Sandbank Veterinary Hospital Cheshire, Connecticut

This place used to be a little overpriced, compared to other veterinary clinics around the area. But the care was worth it. Vets would answer your questions and wouldn't rush you. Now it feels like it is all about the money. I personally had a bad experience with the owner regarding my pets health. I asked him a question during my dog yearly exam. My dog was overweight, so when I asked him what he suggested because I don't give him table scraps nor treats and I take him for daily walks etc. I asked if I should put him on a diet for senior dogs, considering he's 7 To which he stated and I Quote "Do whatever you want". Very unprofessional. Wouldn't recommend.

So happy we found them they have been Godsend!

I just wanted to share about how much I love this vet. I have had pets all my life, dogs & cats, and I could never find a vet that took such good care of my fur babies as Sandbank does. Every time I go in, the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. If I have any questions at all about upcoming care or bills, they will happily give me an estimate and dates for when shots are due. They take very good care of my 90lb pittie and he enjoys going to his vet appointments, as they provide a calming atmosphere for you and your pet. Love the staff and what they provide always a pleasure! Thank you for all you've done for us and Happy Holidays!

Terrible, awful, stay away. Our dogs have been patients for over 10 yrs. We left the practice today because we no longer trust Sandbank. We have 3 dogs and over the last few weeks, Sandbank made numerous mistakes. A few days ago, we brought our 3 boys (Great Dane + 2 labs mixes) in for vaccines they said we needed including a flu vaccine which we needed to board our dogs. They all already had their flu vaccines but were coded under something else. They took a weight of our Dane of 159 then 149 lbs and to Dr. Berringer. Dr. Berringer was clearly annoyed with the tech. The visit before, they forgot to give our Dane his lepto and we were nearly home (30 min drive each way when the admin called and said “haha, our bad. We forgot to do his lepto. Want to come back?” Yesterday, without asking or informing us of the prices, they gave our boys $500+ in vaccines we could’ve waited another month for without our permission. That’s a pretty solid bill 2 weeks before Xmas when we could’ve easily did that in Jan after the holidays. Dr. Chin also sold the practice to Blue River, a large company. Dr. Donnelly left who was our main vet bc we cannot stand Dr. Chin ~ TERRIBLE bed side manner. Nobody communicated his departure and we’ve just lost faith in their ability to do the simple things correctly. If they can’t weigh our dog correctly, can’t communicate our main vet is no longer there (again, we’ve been their cash cow and spend THOUSANDS of dollars per year in well visits), can’t do paper work correctly or remember to give a vaccine on a scheduled visit, how can we now trust them when something does happen. Lastly, we asked for a few, simple receipts from the last few visits and they sent a 31 page report of all 3 dogs which was good, maybe. But…also included our 2 dead dogs. This was the final straw. We asked for a refund for our last visit which was $500 as a courtesy credit given that we’ve been there so long and all these mistakes. We were given a $46 credit for a flu shot. Nothing more. And we made it very clear that it’s the principle ~ several mistakes, lack of transparency, lack of communication, incorrect paperwork, billing us for vaccinations which we didn’t approve, etc., etc. Luckily we have pet insurance and the money to care for our dogs but feel for others who may not. We’d recommend staying FAR away from this Vet as it’s gone down hill in the last year or so. Lots of new staff and lack attention to detail.

This is a very compassionate group of professionals who truly care for the fur babies they treat. I moved two years ago and was lucky that such a wonderful veterinary office was so close by. The staff are very friendly, helpful and patient. The doctors are kind, knowledgeable and always available to discuss pet care as well as provide reasonable options for care. My cat has seen all the providers and they are all wonderful. During a wellness visit they quickly brought a concern to my attention, thereafter, providing all the necessary information for me to be able to make an informed decision. Simply the best group of people!

It was an fast and easy experience and the staff knew what they were doing. They explained to me what procedures would be done for my cat and he came out of it just fine. Would definitely go back if there were any further issues.

Best vets out there! I have one dog and two cats . The staff and vets are very nice and explain everything. Prices are reasonable and the care given is the best. I would recommend them to everyone!

Drs. Doctors and the staff so caring and wonderful . Our little schnauzer they diagnosed with pneumonia recently. They diagnosed and treated her so she is finally healthy and playful again They care so much they call to check on how the pet is doing

Dr. Chin is very passionate about helping animals. He did everthing with in his power to help out cat, who was just 4 years old and started to lose weight. He called us periodically between some visits just for an update on our cat's condition. Unfortunately right after our last visit our cat, Princess, passed away and I wanted his office to let him know what had transpired. A few days later we received a very nice hand written sympathy card from him which was very thoughtful, kind and helpful considering what happened. He did not need to that but, he did the right thing. No cat will ever replace her but, if and when we get another cat, we will always bring the cat back to him for medical help.

Dr. Donnelly, Dr. Chen and everyone at Sandbank are the nicest and most professional vets. The office staff and assistants are wonderful. They all take great care of our cats.

I was having trouble finding a vet online, some reviews of places around me were not very encouraging. Thanks to the reviews on Google about this place, I chose to take my cat here for his first vet visit. So I figured I will leave a review to help others choose just like I did. My experience with this place was amazing. The staff is very professional and the place is very clean and organized. The staff were very very friendly. They interact very well with pets and their owners. My cat was nervous but the vet handled him very gently and the visit went easier than I expected. I'm so glad I found this place and will make this my primary vet for my cat.

We have used Sandbank for close to a decade now. We wouldn't bring our pets anywhere else for regular care. They offer comprehensive services, explain all the options when it comes to care, and respect the wishes of the client. I never feel pressured to make a decision.
