First I have to apologize for not writing anything about our experience that we had at this shelter. We adopted a bunny last year(2020). We had such a GREAT EXPERIENCE with this shelter. Everyone was so kind and so helpful. I would definitely say go to Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter to adopt your fur baby. They were awesome!!!!! Please adopt don't shop!!!!!!

Great people. Great cause. We found a forever friend here. We couldn't be Haley with the experience.

Very friendly staff. They have more than cats and dogs, little critters who need homes are there too (rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters/gerbils).

Well, I could write a best seller novel about this place! CLEAN!! IMPECCABLE STAFF!! WARM, FUZZY and every positive adjective out there!!. They made the process seamless! We are in love with our forever dog! I know the dog chooses you but the staff made this truly a precious moment.. Thanks!

I just visited this animal shelter and I have to say this was my first experience and it was a great and pleasant one. Staff was very kind and nice not only to us but to their animals and they maintain a clean and welcoming atmosphere. Super happy with our time spent there overall.

This place is so much fun and feels very welcoming! The animals are very well taken care of and are happy, they let the cats roam around freely instead of keeping them in cages, so whenever you walk in you can play with all the cats. The staff is very kind!

We are adopting another dog from them today. It’s our third one from them if that tells you just how great they are. Amazing place and amazing people. And they’ve all been the sweetest most loving dogs. So happy!

I have never in my life felt so disrespected, so let me paint a picture. My older sister came up to see us and get a dog and bring it back to her house. We come in and there is one lady who asked if I came in before. I have and I've been around so she tells me to go and look around. I needed help because I did not know what was open and what wasn't. The cat door was closed and I wasn't able to see if she even wanted to have a cat possibly. We see a do and then try to find the lady in order to get some information. She has completely disappeared and I sat there at the front door for at least 10 to 15 minutes. I called out but no one answered. I'm very disappointed and I'm not sure if I'll bring anyone back

I had filled out and handed in an adoption application the day of our visit. We had a good visit and were hopeful and excited. However, we never got a call back. I called a week later to follow up on our application which is when I was told there were a couple things I needed to fix. I fixed all of the things they asked for, and I still never got a call back two weeks later. We are sad for the animal we applied for because they could have been adopted into a great home, but were not because of a simple task of calling a potential adopter. I don't like that the shelter kept us on edge--even if our application was not accepted, it is considerate to let us know so we can move on. We were accepted at another shelter and have adopted an amazing animal into our home. We will not be going back to this shelter for any other potential adoptions.

Not a no kill shelter as the site states. Was told they couldn’t guarantee that the cat I need to surrender wouldn’t be put down. Staff was not helpful and rather insulting.

Beautiful shelter, clean and well maintained with friendly informative staff. We adopted 2 kittens, fourteen yrs ago and are planning to hopefully adopt 2 more since our last kitty passed away recently

They never accept any kitty abandoned suffering, maybe thru friends "connections" or you will be ignored.

A great experience picking out a new family member (dog ) at Dan Cosgrove. Laura was super helpful, and the staff and volunteers very friendly. It was obvious they love the animals in their care.

I rescued a dog from North Carolina who was stuck in the center of the highway with a broken leg. We tried finding the owner but I believe he was dropped off to be abandoned. We made it back to CT and called Dan Cosgrove animal shelter and after explaining the situation they took him in and took care of his leg. Once he was better they reached out to find him a good home and that they found. Thanks Dan Cosgrove.

We just adopted a great dog. They do such a great job socializing the animals getting them ready for their forever home. This is a 4th adoption from this shelter and all have been well socialized and have fit in the existing family. Thank you????
