We didn't adopt our Chip from TSF but they are our go to place for boarding. He is a pitbull mix with special needs (missing his back paws). He also is very reactive towards other dogs and people but does well here. He's happy every time he comes home and seems well rested. The staff here are just wonderful and so knowledgeable. Jane at reception is just great. I feel completely at ease leaving Chip for overnight stays. He is a tough dog. Has a lot of fear aggression towards other dogs and they just handle it so well. We'll be working with their trainer as well to work on some of Chip's behaviors.

Highly disappointing experience. Not responsive. And their adoption criteria for cats is unbelievable. They would rather keep a cat in a cage then let them go to a family with vast experience successfully raising and caring for rescued animals. We have had 10 rescue cats over the past 20 years, always having at least 3. We raise them indoor, never let them outside to wander, feed them high quality expensive food, and take then to the vet whenever needed. Do we take our cats annually for shots? No. Why? because there is no need. They are indoor cats, we have them checked, vaccinated, and they are cared for immediately when ill. Don't tell us we are a bad risk for adoption (RESCUING) an animal from the Simon Foundation simply because you "need us to show that we take our cats for annual shots". You must have a financial interest in a veterinarian. Which of course, you can't even find one in the Hartford area to take pets right now. Unbelievable.

This organization would rather keep an animal for years rather than adopt out to a good family because of their Ridiculous adoption criteria

I adopted my dog Rowdy from the Simon Foundation in 2016. The process was appropriately thorough and it was easy to get into contact as needed. We had 5 wonderful years together and he lived to be a little old man at 11 years old which never would have happened if he wasn't saved from the kill shelter down south. Thank you for saving my best little friend!

Wonderful, caring organization. Staff works hard to ensure the best of care for the animals and to ensure correct placement with adopters. Paula, Jane and Lisa are excellent to work with.

What a great experience adopting my baby Biden. Very friendly staff and most of all they make sure that pets are going to safe home, and that all animals are healthy before putting them for adoption. I will recommend The Simon Foundation to all my friends and family.

I adopted my dog Jackson 3 years ago. The process was clear and easy. The staff was so nice and professional. I had another dog so they made sure they were compatible. They organized a meeting between the 2 of them with their in-house dog trainer. Wonderful job of finding forever homes for abandoned pets instead of killing them, and not encouraging breeding when so many pets are available for adoption and killed every year.

We just tried adopting a dog and they said we wouldn’t be a good fit. My wife and I raised 2 honor students and are very caring parents. I think we are able to settle in a new dog since we had dogs in the past. Sad to see these dogs get put to the side

These effete places do SOME good work, undoubtedly.. but their business model is catered to those who want to do volunteer work & those who want to trumpet their "rescue" for the world to know what good people they are. Do yourself a favor and go right next door and get a great, loving dog for $50 from the Hartford pound. For the most part, dogs are what you make of them. Breeds suck.

I am looking to adopt a dog. The Simon Foundation is very helpful with assisting you in locating a suitable dog. They interview you about your preference in the type of dog your looking to adopt. They are also thoughtful regarding the animals best interest. I would recommend them to others trying to find their best friend. Regards Doris

We adopted out puppy, Penny, from the Simon Foundation and it was the best decision we ever made!! They were so easy to work with and were very helpful. They do a great job matchings dogs to the right forever home. All around a great experience and would recommend anyone looking for a dog. We had some issues with other places because we were first time dog owners but they were very understanding and supportive at the Simon Foundation. They checked out references and gave us a chance. We are so greatful they did!!Penny is apart of our family.

We are still in the process of a very hopeful adoption. From the very first phone call I made I knew this was the place to extend my family. Danielle is easy to talk to, she has a great sense on the dog that will match your situation best she definatley has a passion for what she does and it has shown throughout the whole process. I could not be more happy with my experience with The Simon Foundation.
