I have been taking my fur-babies (a dog and a kitty) to West Denver Veterinary for almost 4 years now and they have always been great to work with, especially when my pup had pancreatitis and wasn't eating. They are knowledgeable and make out-of-the-box suggestions. And, they're a locally-owned business that I feel good about supporting!

We recently moved to the neighborhood and we started taking our pets to West Denver Veterinary Hospital and we are so happy with them! They are very understanding, they explain everything very clearly and have always been transparent about how things will work on their end. They have been very caring and sweet with our cats and dog. They’re very responsive when we have questions for them and very open to explaining how they do things to ensure our pets are safe and well taken care of. We’ll gladly go to them for any needs our pets may have from now on.

I highly recommend avoiding West Denver Vet. I previously took my Portuguese Water Dog puppy to West Denver Vet for ear infection treatments. Their diagnosis was expensive, inconclusive, scattershot, and unjustifiably invasive. After several months of treatments, the only thing that changed was that my dog was head-shy due to aggressive accessing of her ear canal (which complicates at-home cleaning). The ear infections, and bills, continued. After a particularly unprofessional conversation with the vet, which involved gaslighting and proposing surgically-implanted tubes in the 9 month old puppy's ears, I took my pup to a different clinic. It took the new vet one visit to identify the problem: some dogs do best with their ear hair shaved, as plucking irritates them and causes infection. Simple, intuitive, and inexpensive to address. Something West Denver had plenty of opportunity to catch but didn't.

The staff was so nice and professional. I was nervous to take my dog because he is really hard to handle, doesn't like other people and he has a lot of anxiety. Marissa did an amazing job and my dog was happy with her. Thank you to everyone at West Denver Veterinary Hospital!

When I first came to WDVH I had a terrible experience. I filled out the survey they sent after the appointment and was honest with my feedback. The next day Sergio called me and talked through my complaints. They didn't try to cover up or excuse away my concerns. It definitely changed my mind about the vet. So much so that we took our dog back for grooming and could be happier with her new haircut. They were nice and considerate about her needs. Will definitely be back.

I recently started taking my furbaby here and because of COVID times, it is weird handing your baby off and talking with the vet over the phone. Regardless, I think this place is great so far. My kitty is 10yo and was in desperate need of a teeth cleaning and they offered it at an AMAZING price (at least compared to our previous vet). He was groomed that same day. I usually take him to PetSmart to be groomed, but decided to spend $10 more to just knock out grooming and teeth cleaning same day. I took away a star only because I felt that he looks better when he goes to PetSmart and it's cheaper there, but I also can't imagine what it's like trying to groom a cat.

We've been here with our puppy for 5 visits, and each time they were behind and we had to sit and wait in the parking lot for 20-45 minutes. That would have been fine, but the vet was always impatient with our questions and just seemed rushed. Our last visit was when the vet tech came out with our invoice and medications - we asked her twice if she was sure we weren't missing meds to take home and wanted to double check. That night, we get a voicemail saying we didn't get all our pup's meds, and would have to come back to pick them up. Giving 2 stars because we had a good experience with Dr. Claire Vaiden, their relief vet, who actually works at Banfield.

I would like to add something to my first review (see below), because I believe that's only fair. After I posted that review, which I gave one star, Ali the practice manager called. She apologized for my bad experience and explained why everything happened like it happened. She asked for a second chance and suggested that I would also speak to the vet, dr. Gardner and I did. This time both of them really took time for me and answered all my questions. I was able to explain that we already tried two behavior modifications trajectories (before the baby was born, to help him with his fear for other dogs) and that we still using the learned techniques nowadays. So that in our opinion medication seems to be the only option (despite the risks...). After a long talk with the vet and after that with my husband we decided to start with Fluoxetine. I'm nervous about it, but at the same time happy that we had help after all and were able to make a deliberate plan in consultation with the vet. First review: I am so disappointed about our first visit to this vet yesterday. We moved to Colorado a year ago so I had to find a new vet for my dog. I chose this place, because of the positive reviews in taken care of dogs with anxiety. Beforehand, I spoke on the phone with the receptionist and said I wanted to speak with the vet about anxiety medication (the main reason for the visit), clipping his nails and updating his vaccins. The reason for the medication is that my dog is very nervous around my crawling 10 month old baby. I'm afraid he's going to bite her. After a wait of 45 minutes in the parking lot with a crying baby and a nervous dog in the car, somebody (without an introduction) came out of the building and said: "We'll take it from here." I was confused and asked what the plan was. She said that the vet would examine my dog. But I wanted to speak with the vet and explain the problems... The woman said that the vet would call me after the exam. She did, after another wait of 45 minutes. Within a minute the vet said that medication probably wasn't an option, because it could take away the inhibition to bite the baby. Couldn't she have said that beforehand? She advised a behavioral therapist and she said something more, but I couldn't hear here with all the noise from traffic and the still crying baby, so I asked her to repeat what she just said, but she already put me on hold. Then I was transferred to somebody else, again I had no clue who and this woman said that we had to do expensive blood work before we could further discuss starting medication or a therapist. At that moment I was just so stressed and upset, that I said I had to think about it. That was okay, but if we come back for the blood work we have to pay for a new exam again... We are not coming back. In the car on the way home I realised we didn't even speak about his nails and the vaccins. At the moment I just feel defeated, because we have a serious problem and the vet doesn't seem to care at all. No, we are not coming back.

We take our tri-colored Collie, Rascal, to be groomed by Cynthia regularly and he comes home looking fabulous! He gets compliments all the time and Cynthia shows him so much love that he doesn’t even mind going for the grooming session. We’d highly recommend the grooming services offered by Cynthia!

I was in need to have my pup examined before we travelled. My previous vets were a week out if we were to be seen, but West Denver Vet heard my situation, and fit me in their busy schedule. They were life savers for me. They were professional, communicative, responsive, and took care of my puppy's needs. I will be bringing my puppy to them moving forward. We are scheduled to have my puppy's annual visits with them. I trust the staff, the vet, and the overall establishment. Thank you for assisting us when we were most in need

I took my dog Cosmo, an American Eskimo, for a full groom, and he came out looking like a superstar. Cosmo is an extremely nervous dog and Cynthia did a fantastic job and was very professional.

The team at West Denver Veterinary Hospital & Wellness are INCREDIBLE human beings! Our dog Chance has serious anxiety issues and the entire team bent over backwards to help accommodate us and our dog's unique needs. They were caring, professional and truly went above and beyond. If your dog has any special needs that need to be met, or even if they don't, this place is the epitome of top-notch professional care for your pup!

Their groomer is the best. Took our old dog there. She was so gentle. Our beloved dog was happy. And our dog has been the happiest she’s ever been with her hair cut. Not a relationship review. I cold called this place and they delivered!

The care my senior pup got from West Denver his last 6 months was outstanding. This is a weird time and they were flexible with accommodating my school schedule to make sure he was seen each time. If you have ever had a senior pet, you know that things happen suddenly. Every time the staff was sweet and loving to my old boy and sympathetic to me. We put him on a great plan. I will forever be grateful. And when our hearts our healed, we will bring our new pup there as well.

My 8 yr old poodle needed a mass removed from her tail along with a dental cleaning. Given she’s an older dog I was a bit nervous about her getting anesthesia. I’m happy to say everything went as planned! The staff at West Denver did an excellent job at a very reasonable price.

I took our 11/12 year old kitty Walter in for an abscess on his head that would not heal. I was quite specific that I wanted a clip and clean and antibiotics. Well with the first call (as I had to wait in the parking lot) I was presented with a laundry list of treatments and when I declined I got a bit of a (you don't know what's proper for your pet) attitude. I bit latter one of the staff approached me in the parking lot as the doctor wanted to speak with me. More treatment recommend, she said "i tried to call you twice, then a condescending "dose your phone work!' Yes it works. Had she called the mobile number I provided at check in she would have reached me in my car waiting 20' outside the door. I do believe they delivered good care to Walter, Perhaps there's a communication break down between the front desk and the back, If I'm paying the bill I deserve more respect. So sadly we will not be back>

West Denver Vet is great. We've been taking our Berner, Frank, there for vet appts as well as daycare at least three times per week. All of the staff are great and Dr. Gardner has been awesome prescribing a wellness plan for Frank's seizure management. Ali and the team take great care of Frank during daycare too! He comes home a happy, exercised, and tired pup!
