My husband and I went to adopt a cat or two after ours had passed away. The place was really clean, especially for it being the cat room, you couldn’t even smell the litter boxes for as many as they were. They do seem to know their animals very well and treat them great, they were very patient while we looked around at the cats. When we had applied for two cats, the application and home check processes took a little longer than we had liked but that was no problem at all in the end. The two cats we picked out seem very out going and weren’t scared at all when we brought them home, didn’t even freak out in the car! I took that as a good sign of how they treat them at the shelter. They had given us a bag of food to take with us so we could gradually switch them to our choice of food, they also gave us folders of medical records and some other helpful information about getting our cats settled and whatnot. They really do seem to care a lot about where their animals go and whether they’ll be loved and happy where they end up. Also appreciate the other services they provide like vaccinations, we will definitely be taking advantage of their claw trimming service as well! Overall pretty happy with the whole experience, and very happy with our new cats!

Gave 4 stars since are so understaffed, by no fault of their own! VERY clean and organized. Personnel are great. Got us taken care of quickly, efficiently and very professionally. 2nd dog we have adopted from them!

Very disrespectful workers. Every single person was rude to us about everything. I do NOT recommend them. Go somewhere that actually cares about the animals and will be respectful. Absolutely terrible. We loved a dog that was there, but with how they treated us, we decided not to take them home because I will not support a place like this.

Paws does what is best for the animals, even if potential adopters do not agree with the decision. They help the community in countless ways that few people recognize. They are not perfect, of course, but they strive to become better with every mistake. Even when they are severely strapped for money, space, or help, they do everything they can to improve the lives and wellbeing of animals and their family. I've been volunteering in the animal rescue arena for many years, but Paws is a true animal welfare rescue.

My husband and I went to this place this past weekend thinking we were going to find another fur friend, when we did they denied our application because we were going to leave the dog outside while we were gone at work. Come to find out theywant their adoptive dogs to be strictly indoor dogs not outside dogs. My husband and I are deeply upset by the fact that they didn't tell us this right from the start. We had our hearts set on a dog and they tell us that we can't have that dog because we were going to be leaving that dog outside all day. We are deeply hurt by this and for anyone who is going to paws to adot a dog just know that have to be strictly indoors because paws doesn't believe it's okay to leave a dog outside. But again my husband and I are deeply upset.

I think PAWS is a wonderful asset to our community. We adopted a pit mix, Tyson, 4 yrs ago and he is one of the best dogs we've ever owned. He's pretty big and strong and a big ol' nerd, but that's his personality, that's that's what we fell in love him. He let's his Chihuahua sister, Siete, think that she runs things, which is so cute. He lives her. He's very loyal! Enough about him, PAWS is great to find a lost pet, adopt a pet, get emergency food for your cats or dogs, great pricing for nail cuttings and booster shots and rabies, and so much more. I would highly recommend them to anyone and everyone that needs services such as these. Don't forget to donate to there cause. Thank you for everything you do PAWS.

The staff and volunteers were friendly, helpful and answered all our questions. We were looking at adopting a kitten and could tell the kittens were healthy and happy. We did adopt a kitten from Paws for Life.

So, update on my adoption of lab/pitbull mix puppy Niko (aka Dexter). My baby is so darn cute. He's definitely a handful as his foster mom stated, but we'll worth the effort. While I've never had a puppy before (I've always had older dogs), the information PAWS and Lisa provided was spot on. A puppy is just like a toddler and is so much more time consuming, but is SO worth it! My baby is a handful, but is getting better and better as each day passes. Listen to the advice /guidance provided by PAWS and have lots of patience! It's such a great feeling to know providing a great home environment for a pet that was previously abused. Thanks Dee and Lisa! ???? ????

Only takes in smaller dogs and ignores bigger ones. Horrible management. Cleaning protocols are a joke as well. Go to the Humane Society where they have real protocols put into place. Pueblo needs a nice privately owned shelter but this is NOT it.

The staff and manager Kim were incredibly helpful and kind. I Rescued a 12 week old puppy from a chain and a life of hell. They took him in and found the perfect situation for him!!! I love them.

Small, cramped area for the cats. Much unused space. But they are trying to help the animals and need to be supported.

This place is a joke the rudest person running the show. You have to visit the animal twice before you can take them and give you the run around when your there the second time n want you to rearrange your own schedule for them. They say they want the best for the animals but they really don't.

It seems as though Pueblo doesn't care about animal neglect. My neighbor has 4 dogs that are left outside 24/7, no matter the weather. They never pay attention to their dogs. So as long as they have "proper shelter" it's irrelevant that they are neglected in every other way. These are the kinds of people that should not be allowed to own a fur baby. I have to hear them whining all day and night. It absolutely breaks my heart but animal control won't do anything because "according to Colorado state law" blah blah blah.

facility is clean but when I dropped off my two cats I was told that I could come back and check in on them if i wanted but today I was told that I could not see them. I'm not even able to tell if they are doing okay or not. Would be nice to be able to give a review based off of how they are treating a known animal but for all I know at this point is that they could be abusing my cats. Are they 'my' cats anymore ,no...did i have to give them up, yes...it would just be nice if the facility showed some compassion to at least let me look at them to confirm their health and happiness. disappointed!

On 2/26/2021 To my amazement I was disappointed that I was disqualified to adopt a senior dog that has a health issue. I love all dogs, however I thought I would consider this dog because I have 3 small dogs I rescued and have everything they need. They have their vet appointments when needed. Thought I could fit one more. One of them is a senior and needs special care. Financially iam doing great. Iam a young retiree and physically capable of taking care of me and my little dogs. Hope the Manager reconsiders her decision and not too late. Thank you for letting me meet one of your furry critters. On On 2

I was really upset here. It was about to snow, I had to obviously inside family dogs wondering around and I tried to bring them in. And it wasn't until I told them that one of them was a pit bull mix breed (sweet as all hell and turned out to be chipped) that they decided they didnt have any room for either dogs and sent us across town to the other shelter who took them in gladly! I know a lot of people sing your praises but if that's how you want to be then I want nothing to do with you. Not every animal is the same just like no human is the same. Dont judge a book by its cover.

Made it easy to acquire our new family member. Also followed up to make sure everyone was adjusting and doing well. We love Kimber, she fit right into our family.

Here is the long story went to look at a dog and they lied to our faces they said if you don't have a fence we won't adopt to you they knew before we filed the app that we did not have a fence. Then we went to look at aneather dog and he had hip dysplasia and fleas when asked the person about he said I don't see a limp it was so blatend I would not suggest any one adopt or surrender a dog there very unprofessional.
