Coal Mine Animal Hospital is beyond fantastic. We have brought our dog there since she was a puppy and have only had the most wonderful experiences. The team here goes above and beyond to ensure our questions and concerns are addressed. They are understanding, supportive and incredibly kind. We recently moved away from Littleton and we still drive 3 hours (yes, 3 hours!) to have our dog seen here because we adore and trust this team so much. Recently, we brought our pup in who was very anxious and stressed. She was scared and not cooperating. Dr. Llewellyn and the wonderful tech (I believe her name was Sarah) were so patient with my pup. They worked to calm her down and helped me so we could attempt an exam. It was stressful but their kindness and patience was so appreciated in that moment. I felt nothing but support from this amazing team. We highly recommend this vet for all animal needs. Not only are all the vets and techs phenomenal, but the front desk staff is incredibly kind and helpful. We couldn’t recommend Coal Mine Animal Hospital enough!

Dr. Runkle is a wonderful exotic veterinarian who takes the time to listen and has helped our various rabbits with some difficult problems. We're VERY particular about our choice in vets and she is tops in our book! And now she is taking great care of our parrots!

I have 4 sugar gliders (we use to have 5) and I've been to a lot of exotic vets within 2 hours of lakewood. Dr.R is the first vet that doesn't want to empty my wallet. She's very Thorough most vets want to put them under to do blood work for EVERYTHING but not Dr.R she knows that it's extremely hard on thier little bodies to do that all the time (and we don't like putting them under since that's how we lost 1 at another vet) Dr.R is also vet honestly and up front if she's not sure about something she'll figure it out. I've never really met a vet like her honestly (and I worked in a vets office for 10 years) If you have an exotic animal she's the person to go to

We've been taking our dogs here for a year now, but today I had the best experience and had to leave a review. One of our dogs gets very anxious at the vet and won't let anyone touch him to complete the exam. The staff was very kind and patient about it - and we eventually got his exam completed! All of the employees I've come across are super sweet and responsive. Definitely recommend!

The amazing staff was very accommodating for both of my dogs first visit especially my youngest dog who is a bit shy. The vet tech had treats and peanut butter to distract the dogs while getting shots. The veterinarian was very knowledgeable and helpful in explaining things so that I could easily understand. Definitely recommend for any pet owners not just dogs

We really can't speak highly enough about Coal Mine Animal Hospital. The team really cares about the animals and their well being. The doctors are accessible. Thry are patient with all our questions, and if we get home and think of more questions, we can call and always get a call back from the doctor. When we go in for an exam with an issue, they come together as a team and they do not stop until the issue us sorted out. When our old cat was in his last month, Dr.Levy was happy to call us and discuss how we could make him more comfortable. We didn't have to haul him in and pay additional fees. We are certain our dog would not be alive without Dr. Llewellyn's special attention and care. They are compassionate and reasonable in their approach to treatment. We feel so lucky to have found them. We are grateful to have such wonderful care for our furry family.

I would like to start by saying I absolutely love Dr. Brummel and the vet tech staff that assisted her with me in my visit today. She has consistently been very clear with answering any of my questions and displays a great sense of both knowledge and empathy and my dog loves her. In spite of having a happy and healthy dog, I unfortunately walked out of there with a very bitter taste in my mouth. While I generally don't expect much from humans, the front desk staff has been far less than competent or kind. Because I am on a limited budget due to disability, I called in the beginning of the month for a quote for my upcoming vet visit and was given a number of $128. After asking for an email of the quote so I could review it, it jumped to $333, as she had apparently miscalculated it. I'm okay with that people make mistakes, which is why I call ahead, so that I can budget my month as I'm on a very limited income at the moment. when I went to check out today, front desk brings my total up to $380. I explained to her the importance of me getting an accurate quote so that I could budget my month's income and she promptly blamed another employee for mis-quoting me. I explained how 1/8 of my monthly income and 1/2 of my income are very different numbers when she went on with saying she "has a job and still cant afford a dog" or something to that effect. I was not and am not asking for anything for free, I understand that dogs are expensive and Vets went to a lot of expensive schooling to provide the amazing service that they do, and probably have a lot of expenses, but after 2 incidences of incompetence, an incidence of passing the blame, and then comparing myself to her, I found my experience with the front desk employee(s) to be very dissatisfying and rude. A simple apology would have been just fine. Hopefully I will get a more accurate quote and more pleasant front desk experience on my next visit, and I will adjust my review to reflect that.

We've been taking all of our animals to Coal Mine for over 3 years now. Cats and dogs. You can tell the doctors and staff sincerely care about your pet's well-being. Our dogs are always excited to see everyone. It may have something to do with the peanut butter.

My cat, Mr. Tubbs, had a run-in with another neighborhood cat that resulted in an abscess. Our previous vet couldn't get us in for a non-emergency appt for approx one week, and an emergency visit was going to be an extra $250. My roommate had taken a pet to Coal Mine Animal Hospital a few years ago and told me, shrug, give them a try. They got Mr. Tubbs in the next day and took great care of him! Everybody was wonderful! They having social distancing down to a well-oiled machine with curbside drop-off and pick-up. Their fees were extremely fair. So, they have four new patients with my cats, and my roommate's dogs.!!

From the start, the team at Coal Mine offered time and expertise to answer all of our questions and made us confident that our puppy would receive the care she needed. Consulted with the veterinarian, had her spayed and received follow up contact to ensure she was recovering properly. We’ve changed our animal care to Coal Mine as a result of our experience.

We have been taking all our fur babies to Coal Mine Animal Hospital. We have had three different vets at times and they are all excellent . Same goes for the staff,. They are keeping me to our babies and always makes us feel at ease. When our 18 year old Olive passed they sent us a card. I would highly recommend!

Amazing!! My hedgehog they asked me how here temperment was with people and I told them how to go about handling pumpkin since she's very shy and when I got her back I was happy to see her not stressed out at all. I took her to another vet before for a routine check up and the technicians which I assumed never dealt with a hedgehog went up in her face and started touching her and she got so scared to the point when the vet came in she was in a tight ball huffing and puffing she didn't get out of that ball until I got her back home.. :/ I definitely reccomend this place! ????

I have a rather elderly parrot with multiple medical issues and I found Dr. Runkle to be outstanding in her assessments and care. Sometimes the best action is caution and Dr. Runkle recommended against more than one therapy she said was unnecessary or even risky. Unnecessary procedures may be profitable to any clinic, but I was very impressed that Dr. Runkle was very focused on my bird's best interest. Her staff was also professional and caring. I cannot recommend Coal Mine Animal Hospital highly enough.

We have been using Coal mine Animal Hospital for 14 years. This is the third Vet location we have known. The Staff and Doctors are friendly, compassionate and competent. We have moved further away from their location, but will continue to bring our new younger golden doodle Chere, to see them. They are the Best.
