There's a few reasons this place could be better.. several of the animals are not in very good enclosures.. the whole place smells of poorly taken care of reptiles.. the people that work there don't want you there.. they are hard to get info from and you can only be shown reptiles if you are 100% going to buy one... they are unfortunately the closest live rodent store close and I have snakes to feed..I have gone in with the intention of buying multiple snakes but left empty as the employee(s) or owner are extremely rude...

This place is always friendly, everyone is knowledgeable. We lost power this last storm and they housed our snake for us. Thank you so much!

Best place to get my reptile needs. I used to go to petco to get rats and crickets bit scales n tails are way cheaper and staff is more knowledgeable.

Been coming here for 10 years staff is knowledgeable and has a great selection of animals and enclosures!

If I could give Scales ‘N Tails a 0 out of 5 stars I would !!! After walking around Petsmart earlier this evening an associate requested Scales ‘N Tails for the reptile & Habitat I wanted to buy, I decided to check out Scales ‘N Tails on Academy approximately 40 min before their closing. Upon walking into Scales ‘N Tails I asked the employee for assistance on where the Chameleons were located, he was very short and pointed to a tank on the right wall along with the other 30 tanks with no specification to where this tank was. This guy was incredibly lazy! After a little bit of looking I ended up finding the tank with the chameleon in it. Shortly after, I had a few questions and even though I requested assistance first the employee went ahead and helped others that were after me. After standing by the register for awhile I finally got the chance to ask my questions regarding cost and habitat. Instead of educating or even explaining he asked how much is the one you want, I replied it says $130 on the glass, he then says, yeah that’s gonna be over $900.00 for the habitat. I said what about these starter tanks, he then replies….. do you see Chameleon written on the box? I said no, he said then their not for chameleons. I then told him I saw they had reptile tanks that did have a chameleon listed for appropriate use, he said “yeah use that and I guarantee it will die in no more than 6 months”. It was as if this man was doing everything he could to avoid selling this reptile to us. It was very upsetting. I walked out without buying anything just because of this workers attitude alone. Who ever runs this business needs to really check on who they hire! They also need to read some of these other reviews, they are all sounding the same, ie horrible customer service!

Everyone at scales n tails is wonderful ! Very helpful if you have any questions and they're reptiles are outstanding! I would recommend them for anyone wanting to get advice or help with problems you might be having and gorgeous reptiles !

This Is is a wonderful exotic pet shop like pet shop. The animals are very well-cared-for and the staff has a great deal of expertise.

I'm not sure of the person's name or status but whoever I dealt with when I went in here was super cool

My wife is a falconer and occasionally needs to purchase mice for trapping or training. The folks here are always accommodating when they pick out mice for us, as we need them to look a particular way. Thanks guys!

had a FANTASTIC experience. Bought my two Crested Gecko hatchlings there along with a setup to temporarily house them both and I'm getting ready to buy a second setup so Hannibal (the smaller of the two) can catch up in size to Sunny. Had a bit of a hard time getting them to start eating and then when they finally did they took off. 10/10 would purchase there again

My daughter and I had an incident at THIS location that left us feeling uneasy about purchasing a reptile after we had ALREADY made the purchase. ONE of the employees that work at this location is under the impression that he knows everything about reptiles. This employee must like the feeling he gets from scaring customers away from purchasing reptiles. I will DEFINITELY NOT be purchasing anything from this location in the future. Hopefully the East location actually appreciate their customers and be helpful instead of scaring them away because now I'm going to be stuck with store credit. In the future I will absolutely take my business to Petco and PetSmart because at least they're friendly and aren't trying to scare me away...

Great store with great selection of reptiles and very knowledgeable staff.

The only place in town I buy my reptiles and feeders from. They always have healthy animals and a large selection of invertebrate pets.

If you've never been here, go!!! It's like a zoo where you can buy the animals. I've purchased all my critters from here and they come home healthy, and stay that way. The staff rules, they will tell you the truth regardless of if they sell something or not. Highly recommend.

Absolutely awesome. I'm a first time python owner and they helped me with a better enclosure. They offered low budget options as well as really good options for my baby. I have been getting my mice from them for a year and I will continue to for as long as I have reptiles.
