They are very friendly group of professionals and are very knowledgeable of the joint, ligament, paw problems encountered by various dog breeds. So far, they have kept the appointment times agreed upon. No waiting.

This facility is absolutely incredible. I read the reviews and we drove from California to Colorado to have a TPLO performed on our extremely active sport dog. Let me tell you, they EXCEEDED our expectations and were so wonderful to work …

Top notch facility and personnel! I was so apprehensive but they know their stuff and Si “Boy” is walking again and a happy dog! TPLO for torn CCL and meniscus damage repair. I am so glad I went to CCO! Special thanks to the doc, Dr. DeTora!

Edit : this to add. I wish they wouldn't hack my dogs toe nails to the nub. I appreciate the effort but as a licensed groomer of 12+ years I take care of his nails. Now all the quicks are exposed. They clip then use the Dremel to cartorize the quick. Not cool. I'd understand if they were long and were CLEARLY neglected but they are not. Took my 2 year old Chessie in to have his ACL fixed. They were very mindful on the way they explained the procedure to make sure we understood what was going to happen and what to expect for recovery. We've gone in two other times to have x-rays and all is good! 8 weeks later and he's healing fine. Answered every annoying pet parent questions we had. Clean facility and my standoffish Chessie even went into the toy bin and grabbed something to chew.

My 9 mon old rescue needed to have bilateral ulnar osteotomy to correct a growth issue a few months ago. We felt very comfortable as soon as we walked in. Dr Dent took the time to answer all of our questions and addressed our concerns from the pre op appointment all the way through our 6 week post op. They took such great care of Ratchet. I am very happy with the decision to get this surgery done at colorado canine orthopedics and will recommend them to anyone needing orthopedic services.

I took my German Shepherd mix to CCO for his second TPLO surgery. I was on the edge of my seat to have to go through this process a second time a year later. CCO eased my worries and made my experience 10x better. Even after Kona wasn't making the best recovery progress, they jumped in and recommended Shockwave therapy. We have completed two Shockwave sessions and are continuing or road to full recovery. I live 1h30m away and would make the drive any day! I highly recommend CCO for your pets orthopedic needs.

I don’t write reviews, but felt compelled to share my experience with Dr Swainson and the team. Our 7 yo ruptured both ACL’s. She was totally lame and suffering. I was referred to Colorado Canine Orthopedics by Buffalo Mountain Animal Hospital. We got an appointment within a few days. Dr Swainson took the time to explain every aspect of the surgery and discuss options. We opted to have both ACL’s repaired at the same time. She was operated on that day. The team were wonderful, professional and incredibly knowledgable. They kept me informed of progress throughout the day. I was sent home with a detailed and easy to follow manual, tailored to our situation, and all the medication to get through the coming weeks. Dr Swainson followed up that evening, to ensure everything was ok. Our pup was sent home fully harnessed to make my job easier and help her through the first couple of weeks. We are now 8 weeks in, and she is doing wonderfully. We continue to be cautious, but everyday we see our pup of old returning. I cannot say enough about the team and the care they took. We will forever be grateful to them. If I needed ACL treatment, I would hope to get this standard of care.

The doctor has an excellent bedside manner, and the front desk ladies were extremely helpful. They made the best of the situation. If your fur baby is in need of their services this is the place to go.

It breaks my heart to give such a low rating for this place! I first went to Dr. Bauer in 2001 with my then dog's torn ACL. He was AMAZING!! So 'present' , really listening and responding and so caring about my dog. I was able to be with my dog immediately after surgery and Dr. Bauer was impressed with how quickly she came out of the anesthesia with my presence and familiar smells around her. The surgery went really well but Dr. Bauer told me that he was concerned that the screws he used were not the right size. He called the next day and insisted on correcting this with no charge. He was scheduled to fly to Hawaii that day and I remember that he came in after the surgery, luggage and guitar in tow, wearing his Hawaiian shirt--rushing to the airport after fitting in the surgery. I had never met anyone with such dedication!! I have been back 2 more times for TPLO's with Dr. Bauer. I recently took my current dog to CCO. The appointment process was a little awkward since I had not yet been able to get in to my vet confirm my suspicions about the torn CCL (I am out of state and could only make one trip to Colorado for this). But they did get me in pending the diagnosis. They told me the name of the surgeon who would be doing the TPLO and I looked him up on the very impressive website. Looked good. I arrived on the day, and I can only describe the check-in process as "slick" but friendly. Due to COVID, I was not allowed to stay with Sundog (I was not told this beforehand). Returned to the car to meet remotely with the surgeon. Dr. Franklin came on (not the surgeon I was told we would have), appearing extremely rushed and rather curt. Answered my questions but not without an attitude I normally ascribe to surgeons for humans. Went in to complete the check-in and I asked at the desk if I could leave a blanket (for a familiar smell) for Sundog since I could not be with her. I got 10 reasons why they could not do that. SHOCKED, I said OK but then, they took it anyway, since I said that I would not be upset if it were lost (how would it get lost?). It was a Friday afternoon and seemed really obvious that surgeon and staff really wanted to go home early. Surgeon called to tell me surgery was finished and did I have any questions. I went to pick up my dog and staff argued about who would have to do the check-out (good-naturedly, but, to me, it felt bad). Surgeon was gone, so I did not talk to him again. The staff doing the check-out, gave me ROM instructions for a hip replacement (not, TPLO) but I just smiled and took my dog home. She's doing great but I am disappointed. I'm sure Dr. Bauer does not approve of this type of service. I hope he gets some apologies.

I brought Woody dog in for a TPLO. Its been 14 weeks and he’s back to 100%. I’m thrilled to see him running and playing with his sister again — without a hint of limp. I can’t thank the wonderful staff and Dr DeTora enough!!!

Forever grateful for these guys. I brought my 9 year old pup in last year when he tore his knee up. Over a year later and he has fully returned to his former self. He had his yearly checkup today and his vet mentioned this morning how he is unable to tell the difference in his knees. If that's not praise enough for the quality of work these guys do, I dont know what is.

The staff at Colorado Canine Orthopedics was pleasant. I unfortunately cannot say that about Dr. Sam Franklin. He was arrogant. He did not like it when I asked questions about my dogs health and wellbeing after surgery. It seemed like he had one goal and that was to do surgery and get his money. He was rude and inconsiderate of our time. I left the facility more confused than I did when I initially walked in. And to top it off, he told me that his last day was in a few weeks and he was booked solid. So again a COMPLETE waste of time. I will never step foot in this place ever again, WORST EXPERIENCE I have ever had at a Vet clinic. As someone in health care, if I ever treated someone like I was treated I would have been fired. You just do not treat your patients like that.

They helped my lucky dog and can help yours also ! Furbabys deserve to be treated as equal living beings to humans suffering. Though they can't speak they have a voice through our human mouths. Choose Colorado Canine Othropedics. They make your furbaby smile ????.

I’m only giving this place 3 stars because my experience here felt rushed and as if they were too busy to really personalize the experience. I heard excellent things about this place and I’m sure the surgery process would’ve been different. I had X-rays done on my dog and the vet said on two different occasions “Your dog was just too tense we couldn’t really diagnose your dog but most dogs (9/10) have ACL issues”. I felt like they were making assumptions and not giving taking the time to make my dog feel more comfortable so they could provide a better diagnosis.
