Took my dog here in an emergency worried he broke his leg. We were told they were “unexpectedly “ busy and I was happy to wait the 3 hours they told me. After waiting in the room for over 4 hours with no one coming in to check on us we left as the room was extremely hot and my pup was not doing well. I understand triaging and accepting patients based on specific needs but when you are hearing conversations outside your room between the vets and their friends getting in and out within 45 minutes it’s clear if you want quality service here you need to know the owner or someone who works there. Beyond disappointed with this vet and will not be returning or recommending.

Veterinary Specialist of the Rockies in Castle Rock, Co is the absolute best pet hospital I’ve ever experienced. The staff is so caring and respectful to you and your pets. We recently had to put our dog Murphy down and the staff was so kind to us. The vet who put Murphy down talked to him the whole time and told him things like “everything will be okay buddy” and “we all love you so much Murphy”. The compassion that this vet showed made this experience more comfortable for us. He was such an amazing vet, after he checked to see if Murphy passed he spent another minute petting him and telling him that he is safe and no longer in pain. Our family cannot begin to say how much this means to us. They offered us many options on how to receive Murphy’s ashes and all we’re either free or very affordable. We even received a letter in the mail about a week after Murphy passed, all of the staff wrote beautiful notes to us that helped us with our grieving process. Our family wants to thank all the staff at Veterinary Specialist of the Rockies for taking care of our sweet boy Murphy.

Solid Gold!!! That’s how I would describe the folks at VSOR! My cat got into it with a raccoon. I called the folks at VSOR and they were very straight forward with me! I was in a tight spot with my finance so had to inquire about fees. I described my situation and they told me what I could expect which seemed very reasonable considering their services. They also took the time to refer me to a number of alternative low cost/subsidized clinics. One of which panned out had I needed them. Just seemed like they were there to help in anyway they could! I was able the take care of my cat myself this time but can’t Thank the staff at VSOR enough for their concern and regard for my cat and me! Great community resource! Thank you!!!

Last night I had to the one thing you have to do when you own a dog that is the hardest to do. I put my beautiful Charlie down and the people at this clinic were so very nice and helpful during a really hard time. I love how they treated myself my wife and my little boy Charlie!

A complete scam! Brought a severely injured cat here because we didn't know where else to go last minute (severe leg trauma). They took x-rays, did tests and still couldn't figure out what happened other then his leg had to be amputated which would cost $4k-$6minimum in addition to the $2k for emergency fees we had already paid. They then called us in the middle of the night (2am) to tell us they didn't think he was going to make it and we needed to authorize emergency medication or pick him up immediately. We slept through the call to find out he made it fine through the night. An amazing vet in Franktown called us back to see if we had found a place and then told us to get our cat out of there immediately and take him to The Dumb Friends League Surgery Center. We did. They diagnosed him immediately from their x-rays with a gunshot wound (evidently a neighbor shot him). Veterinary Specialists of the Rockies couldn't even diagnose a bullet in his body, clear as day in the x-ray. Dumb Friends league was AMAZING! They did have to amputate his leg and it cost us around $600. NOT $4,000-$6,000. He made a full recovery and is living his best 3-legged life. They even used us in a video piece describing our journey.

My kitty, Ansel, is a patient of internal medicine at Vet Specialists of the Rockies. Since we began treatment, his health has improved significantly! He is chronically ill and has blips in his health, but they’re always willing to take a call and answer the questions I may have. Ansel was recently hospitalized there for a few days. The staff was so incredibly kind and informative. They called twice a day with updates and explained thoroughly any changes or improvements he was experiencing. Grateful to have a team that cares as much about him as I do! Thank you all!

I am a disabled vet and my service dog has a hoke in his check which it looks infected and I needed to get him in asap. The lady at the desk asked me to wear a mask which I have a prescription to not wear one due to my health condition. They let me go back to the room were I sat with my dog and son for an hour. Then when the vet lady came in she asked if I had a mask which I explained again to her I Won't and can't wear one she's you're 1 she then asked me about my dog and laughand left the room about 10 minutes after that she came back in and told me I would have to go wait in the car while they looked at my dog because I would not wear a mask that's when I flipped out And left this is so disrespectful to do to a vet and

We’ve been here a few times now in the 4 years we have lived here. Every time has been great! From one dog eating a ton of chocolate and me freaking out to diarrhea and random illnesses. They’re always nice, when I went in for something I thought was concerning that really ended up not being much of anything, they didn’t even charge me! Helpful to have a vet open late and weekends since my work schedule doesn’t work so well With our primary vets hours for more urgent issues!

Had to take our two dogs in late last night because of two separate issues. The staff were professional and quick to get us into a room and check to ensure neither had any life threatening conditions while they tended to another animal with a more serious condition. After finishing with that, they were able to run tests on ours and give proper treatment. The final bill was very reasonable, especially for late-night emergency care. Will definitely be returning if any of our pets need emergency care in the future.

SHAM PRACTICE!!! Took my animal here for a concern of not eating breakfast. The diagnosis was grave by the description of the technicians and doctor. Before ANY contact with a doctor, they collect $500. After speaking with the physician, the bill is now anticipated to be near $7,000 for a 3 day stay and kidney stone surgery. I decided to move my animal to a different facility and the statements/claims were contradicted. Additionally, after paying my almost $1100, I asked for my records and X-rays to travel with to other vet so that they can review and continue. While they agreed to hand over, they refused to produce immediately. I am having all tests redone. This place feels like it needs money and uses your pet as the emotional avenue to guilt you to paying or dying is the result. Two of the 5 office personnel I interacted with convey genuine compassion in their voice and I liked very much. The remaining are defensive and appear to not seek anything outside of their immediate bubble of understanding. ***Update- 5 hours after I Left this facility, I received a call from the new vet facility surgical physician. The new facility doctor says my pet DOES NOT need surgery and his X-rays show much different conclusion than what I was told by Vet of the Rockies. He said there was a lot of irritation where Vet of the Rockies attempted a catheter (because they claim they were unsuccessful and that is why they HAD to start surgery immediately) but he had no issue administering the catheter himself. X rays were also taken at the new facility which describe and conclude OPPOSITE description of the grave condition that was putting me in a moral dilemma. Conclusion: Shams do happen and Vet of the Rockies is preying on the vulnerable. Still waiting on the doctors notes, chart and X-rays from Vet of the Rockies after being promised I would receive ASAP.

We waited 3 hours here for them to do absolutely nothing for my dog...we left with medicine to "bandaid" his discomfort...left him in back for 3 hours while doing absolutely nothing for him while we sat in the exam room waiting to just get our dog back. It wasn't until my husband started to get upset and urgency was our only way to get our dog back. 3 hours and we walked out with a 200$ bill and not even a real exam..I get that maybe they couldn't do what they needed to do but why keep me there for 3 hours....I'm beyond disappointed that my sick in pain dog sat in a cage for 3 hours for no reason as we could have been with him during the pointless wait.

Saturday at 5am, my best friend was struggling and we knew we had to make one of the hardest decisions a pet owner has to make. Unfortunately, while my wife was on the phone with this vet, Herschel passed away. Even though it was early in the morning and it was too late to help him to the Rainbow Bridge, the compassionate and caring person on the other line helped us set up the intake of his body. We arrived and within seconds they were professionally and respectfully carting off my friend. They asked me if I wanted to see him one last time, shared stories about their own pets passing and truly cared. In our toughest hour, they were professional and beyond compassionate. They truly care! Tonight I picked up my Hersh’s remains and they even returned the blanket we had brought him in with that terrible morning. They made a bad situation the absolute best they could considering the circumstances. I even received a condolence card signed by many of the staff. I can’t thank you all enough for respectfully taking care of my best friend. By the way, they don’t charge you a dime for facilitating with an outside company that cremates your pet. They are the go between and do it for free, all you do is pay for what type of cremation and urn you want. Again, these people are amazing.

This was the worst experience I have had with a vet in my entire life. They nickle and dime you for every little charge they can possibly find. My wife brought one of my dogs in at 11:00 to have them look at a small cut on her back hip and they made her sit there for almost 5 hours before we finally quit and left to try and find a different vet. They are condescending, short, and have no respect for your time. It would have to be a life and death situation for me to ever consider bringing any of my dogs here ever again. I highly recommend taking your animals elsewhere.

I would just like to make it known that if you have an animal that is in serious need, unresponsive, & obviously hurting, don't take them to this animal hospital. My family had the worst experience today with this vet hospital. My brother brought his dog in to get checked out after not eating for a few days & progressed to Charlie (the dog) not being able to stand. They called in advance to see how much it would be for a check-up, was told around $100. My brother went in & the tech refused to let Charlie see the vet right away, because the tech was ASSUMING the vet was going to way way more tests done, totaling an average quote of $300-$400, knowing they didn't have the money right then and there. Keep in mind, my brother is on the ground with his unresponsive dog, getting refused to be seen by the vet. After taking Charlie back home, we figure out the money situation, & take him back to this same vet. They took Charlie back, of course after receiving payment, to find out that it is something to do with his spine. No bloodwork needed. They actually walked out of that vet office paying $140, which my family had at the time and could have easily paid for the FIRST TIME they loaded the poor dog up into the car and drove him to the vet. If the tech would have just got him actually physically checked out, it wouldn't have been such a massive issue & they would have had answers and the pain meds for the dog much, much earlier. Not to mention the unprofessionalism shown by the front staff, talking to each other as if other people weren't there waiting for their pets, gossiping about a new girl & other coworkers right in front of patients. Never seen/heard about a vet clinic caring so little about the patients & their owners.

All the people here are awesome, wonderful, nice and Consider it. My cat died on the way to another vet, before we went to this one. when we got there, they were so nice and made us feel so comfortable. They let us spend as much time as we wanted to with our cat. They didn't rush us out and didn't expect money right away when we walked in. Their prices are reasonable for cremation. I would recommend this vet to anyone. Thank you

Last night we experienced every large dog owners nightmare, our dog experienced Gastric dilatation-volvulus(GDV), commonly known as Bloat. We brought her to VSR and they saved her life! The staff was amazing, they work with hurried purpose and although they were busy with other emergency surgeries, they took the time to explain what was going on and what to expect. I would recommend VSR to anyone experiencing a pet health emergency. Thank you all for saving Maisy's life, we are very grateful to have an emergency service to count on.

I was told by another vet that my dog may have a very aggressive bone cancer based off of X-rays taken. We decided to take our dog to a specialist to confirm, and Veterinary Specialist of the Rockies was able to get her in just 3 days after we heard the news. We obviously wanted to get her in somewhere as soon as possible hearing how aggressively this bone cancer spreads. Other specialists were about 2 weeks out minimum. I walked in, the front staff greeted me right away, and were extremely caring and professional. Shortly after we got in our room, the vet tech, Morgan, asked a bunch of questions INCLUDING how my dogs behavior would be when she took her back. No other vet/animal place has ever asked me, and although my dog has very good manners with others, I feel this question is very important anywhere you go with your pets. After the surgeon was able to examine the X-rays and blood tests from the last vet, and examine my dog, she came back in with different possibilities of why we were seeing a lesion on my dog’s femur bone. She also wanted to redo some X-rays and get different angles, but was very upfront with only charging me for an angle the other vet didn’t take. They also gave me a quote for amputation, because it was highly likely of being this bone cancer from the information she had. From the results of just one different angle of an X-ray, the surgeon has reason to believe now that it is not bone cancer! Our family was having such a terrible and emotional week believing that we didn’t have much time left with our dog, but are so grateful that the wonderful surgeon was able to give us some light at the end of the tunnel with such a simple procedure. They did have my dog there all day, they also squeezed her in for an ultrasound of her liver, which we were grateful they were able to do so. They were upfront that for all these procedures they would need to sedate her, but when we picked her up she was herself and ready to go! Morgan, the vet tech, informed us while our dog was there, Morgan took her outside to go potty and have her some water and a few treats. I’m very pleased with how I was treated, and how our dog was treated there.

Take your money and pet elsewhere these people are horrible. Below is a letter I sent to them with zero response I would give them 0 stars if I could. I am writing this letter to voice my displeasure with the care my pet received on 8/10/21 at your facility. My German Short Hair Pointer was referred by my primary Veterinarian for an ultrasound to determine if he might have Cushings disease. Per the clinics instructions my dog had to be there before 0900. He was delivered to your facility at 0845 and I was informed by the Technician that the ultrasound would not be performed until late afternoon. I expressed my concern as he drinks an excessive amount of water and had not eaten as directed by your clinic. I was told that the traveling Radiologist could come at anytime so it was best to leave him. It was apparent that he was not allowed to urinate during this time which I felt was a very cruel. His ultrasound was started at around 1500 and at approximately 1600 your office contacted me that the procedure was completed and that I could pick him up. I arrived at your facility within 10 minutes, paid my bill and waited in the lobby for him to come out. A Tech brought my dog out and to my shock he was only walking on his front legs and dragging his rear legs. Apparently he was heavily sedated and was desperate to urinate. The Tech informed me that she was not assigned to his case so she had no information for me and they brought him out so I wouldn’t have to wait any longer. I barely got him outside before he urinated all over himself he was barely able to make it to my vehicle, and needed assistance to walk until 0300 the next day. Everything at your clinic seemed stressed and chaotic. The receptionist was pleasant but the Technicians were overly matter of fact and kind of rude. I knew that the staff would not communicate the results of the ultrasound but there was zero communication regarding the use of the sedative, how long it’s effects would last, or how I was to care for my pet after the procedure. It was a lot like here he is we are done, see you later. I know that my primary Vet was upset at this news and I don’t blame him the difference between the care we received from him is night and day compared to your care. I plan to submit a review of your clinic but will hold off until I receive a response from your organization.Guess what crickets from them, not even a courtesy call or apology.

Don’t typically write reviews, but these guys were so great to my little guy and me. Cathy was so kind and helpful, even though I was pretty upset when I called. I had such a rough year with my dogs, so this was just one more thing, and she handled the referral paperwork and calling my vet and was just so willing to do more than she probably had to. The techs that took care of Rico were also very sweet, so it was just as good of an experience as we could have, considering the circumstances. Just wanted to say thank you again, I really appreciated the kindness!

Four days after I moved to the area, my dog needed emergency surgery to remove bladder stones. Stressful! All of the staff were attentive, considerate, and empathetic to my situation. My dog was treated very well and the problem was alleviated after a two night stay and surgery. The veterinarians and surgeon were thorough in their explanations and allowed plenty of time for questions. The office staff and vet techs were also helpful and informative. Communication from all staff at this office was top-notch! Highly recommend!

We have a one year old rescue kitty with a gurgly voice and the primary care vet couldn't identify a problem and referred us to Vet Specialists. We were able to get an appointment in a few days----which is unheard of with internal medicine. The communication was A+ throughout the process. I was given a detailed estimate of the pricing for the scope under anesthesia. When that revealed no obvious cause, the vet called to let me know about some tissue samples she wanted to send out and again I was given a detailed cost estimate. We agreed to everything and are awaiting the results now --- and are very pleased with how everything went. We still want answers for our little guy but I have faith that his lung sounds are good and he's not at dire risk at the moment so we'll let it ride until we get the lab results and pathology/histopathology back. Very happy with this clinic.

Our 16 year old chihuahua fell 10 feet and landed on a hardwood floor in the middle of the night. Through my tears and panic, I called our usual emergency vet and was briskly told that I could come in, but would have to wait awhile as they were short-staffed. I hung up and immediately called the next vet I could find nearby, and fortunately, found these amazing people. The receptionist quickly answered and assured me they’d be waiting and ready for us. True to their word, we entered and they gently whisked my dog away to attend to her. Meanwhile, they made sure my son and I were comfortable waiting in a private room with plenty of tissues! The VA came in soon after and explained the work they’d like to do to assess my pet and told me what the cost would be UP FRONT! Not only was I impressed by the transparency, but the rates were extremely reasonable. To make a long story short, my sweet miracle dog literally walked away with just a bruised lung. The staff there were simply amazing and most of all … COMPASSIONATE! Hopefully, I won’t need to visit in the middle of the night again, but I know absolutely where I would go. ❤️

We had to rush our 2 year old golden retriever in at 4 in the morning. He was showing major signs of distress out of nowhere. They brought him to the back immediately to take x-rays and found out his stomach had flipped and bloated. He needed emergency GDV surgery. They got him prepped and ready for surgery right then and there, and called in the on-call team. They arrived so quickly and got him right into surgery. They saved his life, and still managed to keep me as calm as possible. A few more hours and we would have lost him. I'm so beyond grateful to everyone here. They not only saved our boy, but they made sure his humans were taken care of as well. The updates we received, and the care our boy got while he was there was nothing short of amazing. He's now home and recovering well. I've called a couple times with questions and they've been so quick to answer, and so kind. I am so thankful for everyone here for all they did for us, and for making sure our sweet pup came home happy and healthy.

Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, my dog had a severe allergic reaction and despite her skin looking like a bowl of cottage cheese that was left in the sun for a year , all the staff were incredibly friendly towards her and did a great job comforting her. I ignored the one star reviews and still came into this place thinking maybe they just had a bad day or two. WRONG! Avoid coming here. These people are not realistic with their time frames and after being told my pet would be seen in 1-1.5 hours and then told another 30-40 minutes and then told it would still be at least 2-3 more hours I left. I was offered to have my pet triaged after 2.5 hours of waiting. Triaging is supposed to happen when you first get there. My dog sat waiting and bleeding the whole time. I will never come back here nor would I recommend this place. The receptionist was pleasant but after voicing how ridiculous this situation was and how they should let people know from the beginning how long they would actually be waiting to her and who I am assuming was a vet tech, the vet tech was really rude and tried to claim they were telling people. My whole experience lasted from calling them at 9am and leaving this place at 12:30pm. Don’t waste your time and seek care elsewhere.
