Walkin' The Dog Avon, Colorado

Walkin' The Dog is exceptional!! We've been taking our Golden Retriever Truman for years (since he was a puppy) and they've always given him genuine care and love. Can't recommend this place enough!!

We brought our 8-month old cockapoo to WTD after reading all of the positive recommendations online. We found ownership to be responsive and helpful with our questions, which was extremely important given that it was our first time ever using a service like this. Our pup went for five straight days, morning drop off and late afternoon pick up. He was extremely reluctant at first as he was not used to being separated from his family or being around that many other dogs at once. Yet by the end of the week he was jumping out of the car and running to the WTD's door. It felt like sending him to camp. He clearly enjoyed the socialization with other puppies and older dogs alike. He must have loved the staff too based on his reaction to them at pickup and dropoff (at the door, masked as per covid-safety protocol). We highly recommend them for anyone staying in the Avon/Beaver Creek/Vail area.

Took our dog for the day. It was the perfect solution for allowing us to have a ski/snowboarding day.

They are the best! We have a reactive dog who goes on walks with Merrill with no issues. They understand dogs' personalities and manage all their services unbelievably well.

My absolute favorite place and people!! My dog grew up with Marisa and Merrill and absolutely adores them. I wouldn’t trust her to be with anyone else, she gets the royal treatment. Their boarding set up is comfortable for the dogs and they have a fantastic big yard both at the daycare and their home. If you want your dog to be happy, safe, and have the best experience whether it’s daycare or boarding, this is the place to go! I could go on for hours about how amazing the staff, quality of care, and facility is! I would recommend them a million times over!

We have used Walkin' the dog for several ski seasons to take our dog out while we are skiing all day. They are incredibly reliable and professional. Great value for what they do! Highly recommend them!

I've been taking my dogs here for years. They are the most loving and attentive staff and owners. My GSD's come home from daycare happy and tired from all the play and fun. When you drop them off, they don't even look back to say "bye" - that says it all!! Marissa and Merrill and staff are the best!!

They are rock stars when it comes to dogs. Our Newfie Tara loves to go to the Avon facility they have a 1/4 acre outside area & they play well together. The over night service is great as well. We use it a few times per year. Thanks Jeff

Been taking my dog here regularly but not frequently and I am very impressed. As a former Petsmart store manager, I am very familliar with the range of options out there for dog boarding and sitting and this place is top knotch! A little more expensive than some options out there but not much and its worth what you pay for!

I really like the staff. However, my dog did not like going to their facility. I would visit at different times during the day and all the dogs would be contained in a small room. Don’t think they spent a lot of time outdoors.

Marissa and Merrill are the absolute best. They are so professional and provide the best care for all the pooches in the valley. These guys are the real deal. The valley is lucky to have them.

Walking the Dog in Avon is the absolute best dog daycare available. The staff is amazing and so careful with all the dogs, and I am super fussy with my Border Collie. They don't allow any bad behavior, so I don't need to worry that they are allowing my dog or others to get away with behavior we wouldn't allow at home. They are great working with puppies too and helped Vince socialize when he was a baby.

Marisa, Merrill, and their staff are amazing! We had scheduled a stay in Avon/Vail but the condo didn't allow pets. I called ahead (about 1 month) and spoke with Marisa on the phone to explain the situation. She said that our lab could do daycare during the days and then go home with her and Merrill at night. We were also able to take our lab out on a "field trip" for a few hours one afternoon. I don't think our lab missed us much because she was ready to go back for more playtime after going out with us! Although overnight stays and "field trips" are limited, the Walkin' the Dog staff made it seem simple and easy and helped make our trip more enjoyable!

My dog is my most precious possession and for over 10 years I have entrusted her to Merrill and Marisa, and they have never let me down.

Amazing people. Kind, compassionate, good-humored...and near telepathic with dogs. Our big Dane loves Marissa, but Merrill is hands down her favorite person on the planet. For those of us that love our pets, pet care is a trust business. We have other choices in the valley, one of which is right outside of our door. But we choose Walkin' the Dog...and have done so through 2 malamutes (who we're convinced owed their wonderful temperaments to time spent at WtD), a Great Dane and one very cocky Westie. We TRUST them implicitly.

We brought our two dogs to Walkin The Dog while on a short ski stop on a cross country drive. Before booking with them we called to see what the situation was since all doggie day cares aren't the same. The girl on the phone was informed, knowledgeable, and kind. She told me I would revive a call back and did!!! I spoke to the owners about what the situation was leaving our dogs while we enjoyed the slopes, they said it would't be an issue and our dogs would come home happy and exhausted. And boy did they!!!! Our pups played all day and are currently sleeping in the backseat as we continue our trip across the country. I can't say enough about the team at Walkin the Dog. I wish we lived closer so our pups could go more often.
