Action Grooming & Kennels Arvada, Colorado

We have used Action Kennel for 15 years. They are wonderful.

The staff at Action kennel always takes excellent care of my dogs. I do bring them difficult dogs.

I read the reviews online for grooming and boarding and decided to give them a try. I could hear the groomer inside tell another man how behind he was. Walking in, the woman was very nice however when we approached the groomer he was immediately annoyed and frustrated. He was extremely rude when asking if my puppy had ever been groomed before, how long it had been since he had been neutered, etc. I could tell he didn’t want my business. He asked what kind of cut I wanted for both of them and when I said ‘puppy cut’ he asked what that was. His tone and mannerisms were extremely rude and unprofessional. I was going to hopefully use this business for boarding as well, but I do not feel comfortable leaving my two dogs there. I hope this was just an ‘off day’ for their groomer but they lost my business and it was bad enough that I wanted to express my concern in a review.

I have been using this kennel for over 25 years and I’ve never had a poor experience with them. Are usually board two dogs at a time a Cocker and husky that share a run and have an enjoyable time. They get so excited every time I tell them that they are going to the Puppy Hotel. Always clean

wonderful kennel. Our 2 dogs were happy and healthy after a 10 day stay. We were referred by our Veterinarian and we will definitely use them again in the future!

We show dogs and board here multiple times during the year for nearly 20 years. We appreciate that our dogs come back without being dirty and wet like some kennels. The staff is friendly and many have been at the kennel for years! The lobby area never stinks like a kennel and the whole place looks clean! Our dogs are super happy to see everybody there and the staff really do remember them. We always book playtime for our dogs and don’t worry abt safety. Someone is always watching. If you are looking for a place to leave your dogs for the weekend while guests visit or when you go out of town, this would be a great place for them and leave if mind for you.

Tiara has been doing my dogs for awhile now and I will not let anyone else touch my dogs. She does such a good job and the rest of the staff is just as sweet as her????????????

ABSOLUTE ANIMAL ABUSE & NEGLECT!! I landed a part time job here, and on my orientation day I saw such awful things happening to the dogs that were boarding there. I never went back to work because of this. Your dog will be locked in a concrete cell, with nothing but a plastic bin with a blanket and water. If your dog has shorter hair they will absolutely freeze during cold days! If you pay for additional outdoor time your dog does not receive the whole hour, in fact the workers just rotate dogs in and out of chain link pens outside every 5 minuets. I witnessed a dog bleeding because of self inflicted wounds that would of not happened if the dog wasn’t standing on concrete. All cats are locked in a small room, in little tiny rabbit pens. They receive no attention whatsoever, the workers and owners are dog people and cats are not their highest priority. There’s sewage/drain issues here as well. Not exactly sure what that’s from but if a business that needs as much water as this kennel does and it can’t have properly running water, something isn’t right. You will be way better off going anywhere but here.

HAD one great groomer, Devynn. Shes gone now and I will not be returning with my animals for any services there.

Absolutely awful experience!! We took our 5 month old golden doodle there today. This is only the second time he has been groomed, and the only reason we decided to try Action Kennel is because they are much closer to our home. When I went to drop our dog off this morning, I got a bad feeling as the groomer made a huge deal out of it only being his second time being groomed. She told me they actually have to sedate some of the golden doodles they groom. I should have left right then but didn’t listen to my better judgement. I explained that our breeder had told us to not have him groomed until all his shots were complete and then every 1-2 months after that. We also bathe and brush him at home and he’s never had a problem. When they called to let me know he was ready to be picked up, the groomer told me how awful he was. That he peed everywhere when the clippers were turned on and they couldn’t even get him to cooperate with 3 people holding him down. She then told me we had no other option but to bring him in every 2 weeks if we wanted any hope of having him cooperate with grooming. She also told me this was our fault for not bringing in a “9 month old dog to be groomed more.” I reminded her that he was only 5 months old and that we would definitely not be bringing him back to Action Kennel ever again. I told her I didn’t appreciate the way she treated me and that maybe this just wasn’t a good fit. She then proceeded to tell me how she was the best groomer in the state of Colorado and continued to yell at me about how this was my fault. She then said something about me cussing and hung up on me. I immediately called back and asked to talk to the owner but was told he was gone for the day. The manager told me she could not tolerate me cussing at an employee and I explained that I never cussed, as that’s not how I talk and my 5 year old daughter was sitting next to me. My husband just brought our dog home and it looks like he was barely trimmed. I feel awful that we left our poor dog with them today and would never recommend them to anyone! If they treated me this way, I can’t imagine how they treated my dog!

Yes, my sister, Tiara, is the groomer here. However, I live in Parker, a 45+ minute drive. I was taking my dog to other groomers, way closer to my home. One groomer cut my dog, the other hurt my dog's paw trimming his nails. I decided that i was not going to use any other groomer. So yes, I drive almost an hour to take my dog here because my sister is talented and knows what she is doing. That is why she has been featured in articles as a top groomer. That is why people have followed her for years, no matter where she grooms. She loves animals and is straight forward about what a dog needs. You can think this is a biased review, but it's not. I have tried other groomers but cannot give anyone but Tiara and her staff my 100 percent trust with my fur baby.

Horrible service, unprofessional employees, and poor grooming. I will not be back. Update: This groomer is attempting tarnish my family’s reputation on the Colorado Professional Groomers group on Facebook, suggesting that no groomer should take our puppy while lying about the facts of the situation. I think they’re trying to get back at us for telling the truth on Google and Facebook. The public should know this groomer should not be trusted.

Unprofessional staff, poor grooming services, you name it. They have very rude and argumentative staff there and I promise I will NEVER take my dogs there to be groomed. Shame on you, Action Kennel Services.

Tiara has been doing our dogs for over a year now. She is so sweet and kind not only our dogs but to us as well. Would highly recommend her to anyone!

I will never take my dog to anyone but Devynn! She’s never looked or felt better when coming home from the groomers. Never kenneled there but techs are always very nice and courteous!
