I just recently had to give up our Rozi because she just wouldn't get along with our other 2 small dogs. This was the hardest decision I had to make. The transition was a bit smooth. My only complaint is that the volunteer told me they would give me an update after seeing me breakdown, when I handed Rozi over to them. My text messages went unanswered after a few days since we did the surrender. In the future I encourage anyone who is surrendering their dog to ask all the questions they may have. Also, get the phone number to one of the personel in charge of the rescue so you can continue getting updates until the adoption is finalized. Surrendering our Rozi wasn't easy. I hope she's doing well and to who ever adopts her, consider yourself lucky because she's such an amazing dog! UPDATE: I received a phone call from Barbie with a follow up about Rozi. I'm happy to hear Rozi is doing well and is getting all the attention she needs! I now feel very comfortable with BHRSC! 2nd Update: I received news that Rozi was finally adopted by a family. May she be loved by her new family and may Rozi love them in return! She loves ear rubs and big squeezable hugs. She also loves to play tag, although she could never be tagged because she was so darn fast! To everyone at BHRSC thank you so much for everything you all did for Rozi! A big thank you to Barbie for all the updates and reassuring! To anyone reading this please consider donating to BHRSC! BHRSC is an honest rescue who needs your support!

This is a really great organization that LOVES their hounds. Over the years, i have adopted two Bassets. I can unequivocally state that they are the best dogs i have ever owned. I believe on some level the dogs know how hard it is to be a stray and are eternally grateful for being adopted. If you are considering adopting, go to one of the meet and greets at Mel's Country Cafe. Its something to see all those Basset Hounds in one location.

Bleu was a BHRSC resue. He passed away Dec 7th, 2018. Around 12 years ago, I started out as a foster parent to him for about 1 week. I knew i wasn't going to let him go with anyone else, so i filled out the adoption papers and told him he was home. We were the best of friends forever. He loved to ride in the front seat and look out the windows. People would take double takes when they looked over and saw his head staring back at them. Every day he insisted on walking down the street to visit his friends, and they would give him treats. I miss him every day. BHRSC is a great rescue to work with. They care for the hounds and try to ensure the hounds are a good fit for the humans that want to adopt them.

I have adopted two Basset Hounds from this wonderful rescue. Angus was 10 when he came into my life and was the greatest guy enriching our lives until we lost him at age 12. Fred became part of the family at age 5 over 6 years ago. He is my very best friend and provides love and laughter every day. If you are looking for your next canine friend, I strongly recommend Southern California Basset Rescue as the best source for a healthy, loving pet.
