I called to schedule initial exam for our newly adopted dog from Camarillo Animal Shelter. We adopted him Thursday Jan 30. Voucher says to contact within 3 business days. New Years Day not a business day and for that matter maybe not even New Year’s Eve. The “manager “ said we have to follow protocol of the letter …. First that appointment needed to be within 3 days then that i didn’t call within 3 days! Didn’t even bother to explain anything any further. What a pleasurable experience

If I could add zero stars I would. Treated me and my dog very poorly and just really bad customer service. My dog came in for shots and they didn't warn us about a possible reaction with the shots and hours later my dog couldn't breathe and his face was swollen like a balloon. I spent $190 there and another $250 at another hospital so they could bring down my dogs swelling and I received zero help whats so ever and just really bad customer service. I would never take my dog here again and I would recommend that you do the same because this is not a good place to take your dog.

My first visit was ion April of this year to update vaccinations and returned yesterday for significant dental surgery on both of my doggies. Very professional and caring. We have been going to Dr. Cole for a long time when we lived in Oak Park and reconnected with him through the web. Very impressed with the staff and the facility. My only criticism is that they are rather pricey, but my girls are worth it.

Worst experience ever. Very corporate and it shows. Would never recommend this clinic. No “warm and fuzzy here”. There was a mixup with my appointment time, and they took no responsibility, I had it written down for one time, they insisted it was an hour earlier, we’re not flexible. Had to reschedule. Arrived at the next appointment they were running late. Unfriendly, staff. I do not feel like they care about your pet. You are just another $$$. High prices because they have the Westlake ZIP Code. I would never go back, or recommend. Horrible

We found out about VCA Westlake Village through the SPCA, where we adopted our Husky/Shepherd mix named Brody. Brody is about 1 years old and is extremely active and out of control. He immediately took to the technician that came to the car and seemed very comfortable going with him. The vet called me in my car and explained everything to me. He spent time answering my deluge of questions about my new pet. He was very nice and patient. Although we have been using another veterinarian for our Golden Retriever, Rosie, I plan to keep Brody at VCA Westlake Village.

My dog got hurt here. Do not take your dog here. Read how many bad reviews they have and how many pets have been hurt here. Reviews before I took my dog here. This is not a good facility and they definitely don’t treat you and your pet well. Do not spend your money at this terrible place. There are so many better pet hospitals in the area to choose from. I wish I went elsewhere! My response to VCAs PHONY, scripted reply is: too little too late. Your staff should’ve done something to prevent my dog from ever getting hurt. And then once my dog was hurt your staff should have made sure to take care of my dog and fix the problem that your facility made. Instead your staff was rude unprofessional, lacking complete and total customer service and care. VCA Westlake would not have so many bad reviews if it wasn’t true. The problem with you guys is that you don’t fix the problem with the customer complains at the office but wait until we can plan on a public feed like Google. A simple appointment turned into me having to spend hundreds extra on my dog. That should’ve never happened and 100% is all of your facilities fault.

"Very disappointing experience" Our 3 dogs were treated here for some time. While Im sure most of the staff is trying to do well and attend to all the animals needs, I found it extremely arrogant today that not only was my pet hurt while getting her adequine shot, but having the audacity to decline my request to have her pain medication filled and tell me instead I have to have a vetenerian appointment which I have to wait and of course pay for!! The reason for needing her pain medication is well known and we'll documted in my pets files! I understand when a dog pulls and is not willing to move voluntarily into the Treatingroom, It might trigger something especially with arthritis. Was not upset about that. But having the arrogance I just witnessed, no sorry or how can we help, willingly leaving my dog in pain until there is an opening they can charge me for is animal cruelty! I believe it's important to know the good but also the bad before you place your pet in someone's care!

One of the most painful times ever was recently saying goodbye to my beloved 15 1/2 year old Golden Retriever Maggie. The love and support I received and have continued to receive from staff at Westlake Village Animal Hospital is deeply appreciated. They have been family to me and my pets for years and I cannot thank them enough for truly caring for the health and well being of myself and my pet family! Truly the best ever!

I was told that the front desk people were rude and agenda driven but I had my pet there for vaccinations and it went well. The. When my dogs ear got torn up and was infected I experienced the same as my friend. One minute the dr was there and she was talking to him and the next minute she would say he had gone home and then it was another story. All reasons it sounded as though she didn’t want to stay late because it was an hour before closing.... and it went on. She offered to have me pay an extra 50.00 from their normal fees to have my pet kenneled the next day and they might be able to fit her in. But no guarantee. That was the extent of any empathy. Is it about them or the health of the pet? Wow. I took my dog to Agoura vet hospital and they cleaned out the infection, stapled the ear where needed and put her on needed antibiotics. What a difference when I called and spoke with the front desk who shared my concern over my pet and provided solutions. VCA has a reputation for front desk issues.....often this stems from the way they are treated and managed . Their vets seem great but I doubt I will return.

I brought two of my three senior cats here after I moved. The staff was nice and we had a good experience. Now, during a global crisis, the health of one of my cats is deteriorating. After my personal situation got worse, I got lucky and found a job again. Still, I didn't get paid yet, but wanted to take my cat to the vet as fast as possible and asked if I could pay a bit later. I bought cat food before buying food for myself. I have absolutely no money at all and nothing to eat and they know it, but VCA won't wait for payment. They'd rather let my cat die a miserable death than accepting a payment plan. And that after I had left them hundreds of dollars before. That's what I call money-grubbing. I'm deeply disappointed and upset!

Great people and great service. My wife and I felt very comfortable taking our pet in on an emergency basis and they didn't give us an unreasonable bill for their services.

I have jumped from vet to vet, for 30 years . We (my family and I) could never find somebody that is caring and knowledgeable enough to feel comfortable placing our dear dogs in their care. I have tons of horror stories. FINALLY VCA Westlake Village Animal Hospital checks all the boxes! The staff is friendly, caring, willing to listen, knowledgeable, and thorough. They go through pricing with me and are honest about what is necessary and what isn't. You can call 24 hours a day with your questions, and they do the best to answer, despite how busy they are. They don't use fear tactics to get me to spend more. They are sincerely the best vet I have been to. Dr. Rothman and Gayle at the front desk are a couple of the main reasons this place is so great. Thank you all so very much.

The staff is amazing and take amazing care of my aging crew of pets. Available 7 days a week they have helped us out during numerous pet emergencies taking the best care of my pets. They use care credit which gives you financing options. They always call after appointments to check on pets and will always answer any questions you may have.

I took my dog for her chronic diarrhea in July. They gave her a course of antibiotics and tested her for parasites. $180 charge, no problem. Her problem didn't go away and we took her again in 6 weeks. They repeated the same prescription, not even sure what other test they did. They gave her a special dog food. $480 charge, no problem if her diarrhea had gone away. They said next time we have to do an ultrasound if things don't get better. I was wondering why they didn't ultrasound her during that visit? I spoke to friends about this issue and they advised to add Pumpkin to her diet. The addition of pumpkin to her food solved the problem. I couldn't believe that an animal hospital doesn't tell you this, neither the doctor, nurse, or front desk. I guess it would be hard to justify the charges when a problem could be solved so simple. I wouldn't argue the charges or write this review if someone had mentioned the word pumpkin to us. We changed her clinic immediately!

Dr. Steve and the staff are patient and wonderful. My chihuahua Ruby has a spine injury and they were very professional and compassionate with me and in treating Ruby. Without Dr. Steve, I am not sure Ruby would have recovered to the degree that she did. Thank you Dr. Steve and VCA Westlake Village Animal Hospital for everything you do to keep our animals well. I highly recommend VCA for all your pet needs.

Horrible! I"ve been going there for my dogs for over a decade. Always an "upsell." This time my dog Delilah had an eye infection. One trip for meds and check. $150. Appointment for recheck $40, eye drops $50. Two meds, one eye drop antibiotic and what was told me was going to be an internal antibiotic $60. It wasn't an antibiotic at all, it was pain meds. Finally go to another vet yesterday and after two weeks of pain and meds at $310, pay him $125 and get the eye fixed. It's about the money with these people.

This place deserves a 5+! rating. The staff is very friendly and responsive. Doctors are knowledgable and really care for their patients. You will get a call back regarding any questions or concerns regarding treatment or your pets condition the same day. The hours are very convenient! Service is outstanding. Highly recommend this clinic.

Horrible. Since this place has changed ownership the vets don't know what they are taking about. Make you keep coming back and dont ever fix the problem. I will never come back to this place again. Dr David Namekata is worthless and doesn't know what he is doing. Do not ever go to him. I was telling him what to do based upon a google search. Then he wouldn't even give me the courtesy to come out and explain what was done after the exam. Worthless.
