I was referred to ADC by my dog’s vet to treat his extreme skin allergies & chronic skin infection. Dr. Werner has been “treating” my dog, Glacier, for well over 6 months now. I’ve easily spent thousands of dollars at this clinic and all I got from it was a dead dog. Dr. Werner diagnosed Glacier with an antibiotic resistant staph infection. After trying everything we could, the only leftover solution was an antibiotic called Rifampin (known to cause liver toxicity). I made it very clear that my priority was keeping my dog alive so at the earliest potential sign of liver toxicity, we needed to stop the treatment immediately. The doctor did a liver panel, Glacier’s results came back normal so we began the treatment. Everything was fine until the third week when the results came back abnormal enough to make the doctor want to cut his dosage in half. The liver panel results were NEVER disclosed to me. I had to call the office to ask for them and was only told that the doctor had recommended cutting his dosage down. I asked if his liver panel was elevated and was only met with vague reassurance that everything was okay and that cutting his dosage was merely precautionary. The following days, Glacier stopped eating in the morning. I called the vet and expressed my concern and asked if we should stop the meds. They spoke to Dr. Werner and called me back saying that loss of appetite was a common side-effect associated with Rifampin, not to worry, and insisted I continue giving him the course of antibiotic. He stopped eating entirely that weekend. He was drinking a lot of water, urinating frequently, was very lethargic. I knew something was seriously wrong. That Monday morning, I went to ADC for his liver panel. When the lab tech came out, he didn’t go into details about what the results showed. He just said his liver enzymes were elevated and that we should get him to a doctor. He said he’ll need some support but assured me his enzymes would stabilize in a few weeks. I brought my dog to his vet who was vexed at the way ADC handled everything. She explained in great detail what the liver panels were showing and gave us the horrible news that his liver enzymes were so high, they weren’t even registering. He was hospitalized immediately. The following day, his condition worsened and he was transferred to a specialty hospital. He was diagnosed with acute hepatitis. We kept him there until Saturday morning when he was discharged. The hospital told me there was nothing more they could do—his liver had completely failed, his kidneys started to fail too. They ran so many tests to see if there was something else at the root of this, their final determination was that Rifampin single-handedly was at fault for his liver failure. $15,000 in hospital bills, we carried my weak dog up the stairs to my apartment so that he could at least pass away in the safety and comfort of his own home. Three weeks ago, he was completely healthy. A five year old dog, with so much life left to live. I am not blaming Dr. Werner for giving him the Rifampin. Please understand this. I am blaming him for not being attentive to the red flags that were so CLEARLY waving in his face. I’m blaming them for not disclosing the liver panel results. If I had known his enzymes were even slightly elevated, I would have stopped the treatment and my dog might still be alive. His regular doctor, who has seen him only 4 times, approaches him with such thoughtful care & attention because it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that my dog has a very sensitive system. So when you’re giving him such a harsh antibiotic as Rifampin, I expected his dermatologist who has seen him more times than any other doctor on earth, to approach him with that same level of care. I am devastated. And I have to live with the guilt of his premature death. I wish I could turn back time, I wish I had listened to my gut, but instead I listened to the professionals who kept telling me to continue on.

Place may not look like much from the outside but our vet Dr. Boyle has been amazing at listening and helping us out with our poor Tootsie who is apparently allergic to everyrhing. With the help of our vet. Tootsie is doing much better and has stopped bitting at herself and licking endlessly. Now all she has to worry about is killing the bunny ????

Just had our first appointment, and it went great! I read a couple of 1-star reviews, and the complaints seemed a bit silly. Yes, it was $135 for the consultation, but subsequent visits are $79. The tech and Dr. Boyd spent considerable time, almost an hour, listening to what I've done on my own to help him, and what his current symptoms are. He ended up getting a Cytopoint shot and scheduling him for a skin test. My bill was $253 for the consult, injection, and an attempt to aspirate a little growth on his leg, which was unsuccessful, so when he is sedadted for his skin test they will remove it an get it biopsied. I expected to spend about $400+. I was so surprised by the total that I asked them if they were sure they charged me for everything. They are by far the least expensive dermatology center, but they are very thorough and kind. The front office staff is very welcoming and friendly as well. Yes, I will probably spend about $800 for his next visit, but I have great pet insurance, and I've already spent thousands on various treatments and foods that only made things worse. Another plus for me is they didn't try to lecture me about the dangers of a raw diet. I switched him to raw when every dry food seemed to make him scratch and chew like crazy. He is much better than before, but he still has issues with environmental allergies that need to be addressed, hence the testing. Overall, I was very pleased and look forward to working with them to resolve his issues.

Every time I took my dog to the place last year I was disappointed with the vets. The service of other workers there is good and it is a clean place, but if your dog have the issue they are not sure how to treat it and send you to specialists to other clinics and then you end up paying twice or three times or more. Then you go to specialists and they send you back to the vet to figure it out.

Not good the doctor couldn't diagnosed my dog, $300 and change later, with antibiotics, medicated shampoo, conditioner, spray and anything they could add to your bill, and the poor pup is worse than when I took him. Don't waste your money.

This is the place to go if your regular vet is not curing dermatological problems with your dog. I have dogs and not cats right now so I'm not sure about cats but if they're good with dogs all but they're wonderful with cats as well and I have recommended this place to a number of my friends who have gone and they have solved their problems with both

This place is amazing! The staff is caring and highly knowlegable in their field and beyond. I have a bichon mini poodle mix that was having problems with constant itching. They were able to figure out what was causing it and institute a plan to help and it did. My poor dog would sit around scratching and licking until he would break the skin. I tried many over the counter solutions with no success. After my visit and instituting the proposed plan that Dr. Werner recommended he has been practically itch free and enjoying his life. If you have a pet as a part of your family that is experiencing problems in this area, I would get an appointment scheduled with Dr. Werner and his incredibly capable staff ASAP. They changed my dog's life. Five stars and my hat off to you animal dermatology center.

Good staff, but felt very perfunctory. First visit nothing but 20 minute consult for $135. Follow up would have been over $700. Would not treat my dog for his allergy! What a waste of time and money!! No thanks. DO NOT GO HERE. YOU WILL FEEL CHEATED.

Love the staff and Dr Werner is excellent. Very good clinically and clearly knows his stuff. I highly recommend his practice to anyone who needs it. My German shepherd Harley Quinn doesn't love it there quite as much as I do ????

We've been to Dr. Werner regarding two different problems over the years. In both cases he diagnosed immediately what was wrong. He is great at explanations and answering questions in depth, unlike some vets who seem to want you in and out as fast as possible. It's expensive getting your pet treated there but absolutely worth it. We highly recommend him, and his staff couldn't have been nicer.
