Knowledgeable staff, excellent service felt very safe with our pooch in their care.

Could not be happier with a vet visit!! The staff was fantastic and the veterinarian was unbelievably knowledgeable and helpful.

We had a pet emergency and Dr. Sears was so wonderful. You can tell she has compassion and love for animals. The front staff was amazing as well and very loving. We are not locals, however, we appreciate their time and care they gave us during our visit.

Best vet clinic in Tahoe and honestly the best clinic I have found in California! Friendly staff and reasonable prices! Highly recommend going there for your fur babies medical needs ????????

Took my cat in for x rays and was charged over $500 and reviewed by three different people and told me nothing. No diagnosis. Awful! Cat improved on its own!

I want to give a big shout out to the crew that was there at 3:15pm on 10/25/21. My dog does not like the vet and she was making it known!! Everyone was so kind and patient with her even though she was being crazy and not so nice. I’m thankful to be able to take my dog somewhere safe, reliable, friendly, and professional. We have been going to Blue Lake since we started living in Tahoe and we will definitely continue to go there for as long as we are here! :)

Dr. Ellen was knowledgeable, professional, honest and informative. Easy to talk to and pricing was more fair than I've found elsewhere in South Lake Tahoe. She's our new primary/local veterinarian.

Our dog was bit and needed stitches. Blue Lake was able to squeeze us in and took amazing care of our fur baby! Great service and we felt confident she was in great care. Azula appreciated the gentle care :)

My poor pup has been having a problem with her paw (infection). I'm from out of town and felt she needed to have it looked at asap. I got her in two days after I called, which I feel is amazing. Dr Sears took a look at my pup. She explained the different options (pros and cons) of how we can fix the problem. Dr Sears was awesome and so was the rest of the staff! I wish Blue Lake Vet was closer to home.

My dog injured her hind leg on a Sunday. I sent them a message on their website and I got a call back at 8 am the next day. They were able to see within 30 minutes. Very accommodating and knowledgeable about the injury.

Had to come to get puppy checked out on stay in Tahoe. Really friendly and fairly priced.

We were driving through town while moving between states and had an emergency while on a brief hike with our pup. Unfortunately, going into a holiday weekend, every vet clinic was short staffed or already had too many emergencies. When we called Blue Lake and explained our situation, they were also incredibly busy but said they would like to fit us in and would call back as soon as they chatted with the doctor. They made a space for us and routed us to the clinic right away. Dr. Ellen Sears was informative, thoughtful, and made us and our pup feel comfortable. It was clear she has a genuine concern for the well-being of her patients. We left feeling grateful that we were able to take our girl to this clinic. It couldn’t have gone any better! Thank you to the full team for being there in an unexpected and stressful moment; we are endlessly thankful for you!

Had an emergency with my dog during the Fourth of July weekend. Called every other vet in town, they all had too many cases and were closing so could not fit us in. Blue Lake told us many others were having similar emergencies and they would have to check with the Dr. to see if we could be seen. We were promptly called back and told to bring our dog in. Super friendly staff, Dr. Ellen Sears and her assistant Rachel were very professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and were able to fix our dogs issue and get us back on our road trip. I would suggest Blue Lake and Dr. Sears to anyone in the area, or if like us you have an unexpected issue while traveling. Thank you so much Dr. Sears and all the staff for helping us out!!

I have never seen any dog, let alone my dog, be SO excited to go to the vet. I am so impressed by this vet. My dog has been battling horrible allergies his whole life and other vets tried many things with scary long term effects. This vet is the first to come up with the perfect idea that has changed my pups life and will help him stay itch-free for long-term without all the scary side effects. The staff is incredible. Both me and my pup Hendrix couldn’t be happier! Highly recommend!

Last December I was in Lake Tahoe area with my 17 year old cat who has CKD, the poor boy didn't eat for 3 days, after trying everything I was freaking out and started calling everywhere around the lake to get an appointment. With low capacity during covid, no one could take me or suggested me to the emergency center in Reno. finally, Dr. Powell kindly took my cat in that afternoon, the result of the bloodwork showed my cat was on the edge of dying as his kidney numbers were too high for the machine to read. Dr. Powell didn't give up on him just yet and started trying treatment immediately. He was thorough and patient when explaining the options to us, and also was objective that the hope was low. Thankfully my cat is a fighter and pulled through. Dr. Powell's diagnosis and treatment saved my his life! I am always going to be grateful for him, and I know we are truly lucky to have found him that day. 3 months later, now we are back in NYC. I remain really really thankful for Dr.Powell and his staff. thanks so much!

Super quick, friendly and affordable! I was visiting from the coast and had an emergency. They took my pup in right away and made him feel better :)

Very disappointed. My daughter had an appointment today. She called to let them know she was running a little late. (5-10 minutes at most). It was annual check up and shots however she’s worried because her pupper has been throwing up and diarrhea the last few days. They refused to see her and told her she needed to reschedule. I have never heard of a vet with so little care about an animal! I told her she needs to find one that takes their profession more seriously and not concerned when they punch out. You would think when someone is about to drop about $300-$400 on shots and pills they would care more. Updated: It is very sad when someone losses a pet and right now she is worried about losing hers. She has found another vet.

Gave us a same day appointment and took great care of our elderly dachshund. He had a recurrence of a chronic but very occasional gastro problem while we were on vacation. They listened to what treatment he had successfully had before, prescribed the needed Rx, and didn't even charge us an arm and a leg. Very satisfied.

I cannot say enough great things about Dr Powell and his staff, they saved our dog Tipsy’s life. We recently moved here and she was living the best dog’s life ever until she collided with our 110 lb Corso, she seemed sore so we watched her. We didn’t have a vet yet but had heard great things about Dr Powell so we had a new patient appt set up. Tipsy started acting weird so they got her in sooner, her blood counts were off and we were waiting a few days to see if they came up but then she collapsed. Again she was squeezed in and Dr Powell called immediately saying there was a large mass in her spleen, she needed surgery immediately or she would die. He operated right away and removed her spleen. He did an incredible job and explained things so well, warning us it was possibly cancer. He called us with the pathology report and so compassionately explained it was in fact terminal cancer. He kindly explained our options and said he would be happy to care for her or support our going elsewhere. At this point we would never even consider taking her elsewhere, she is not only comfortable with Dr Powell and his staff but we couldn’t be more confident she is in the best possible hands to care for her for the time she has left.

The staff here is amazing caring and compassionate. Special thank you to Stephanie. She patiently helped me navigate the process of saying goodby to our beloved Spike and got us in the same day so our 17 year old boy didn't have to suffer through a weekend. Things are a little different during a pandemic and this Animal Care Center and staff made the process as comfortable for us and our beloved sweet boy. I cried when a card came in the mail full of genuine words of condolence. I would highly recommend this Veternarian and am so grateful to all of the Blue Lake Animal Care Center.
