Tuolumne Veterinary Hospital Sonora, California

I first fostered and then adopted the oldest dog who had also been at the Front Street Animal Shelter the longest on August 4, 2017. His name is Reshard. He had been confiscated from an abusive home. In May of 2020 he became very, very sick. He hadn't eaten in a week. He was shaky and would throw up bile. I knew he was going to die if I didn't get him help. I called Tuolumne Veterinary Hospital and they got him in that morning. I was told his kidneys were failing. He stayed there at the hospital, on an IV for 2 weeks. Dr. Rubenstein, this man of few words and his wonderful staff encouraged me. Dr. Rubenstein explained to me everything he was doing to try to save Reshard's life. And, I was there everyday (except Sunday) spending hours sitting with Reshard as he was hooked up to his IV. I honestly didn't think he was going to make it - he was that sick. It is now January 3, 2022. Reshard, my Mighty Protector, is in his bed, under his blanket, watching at the window. To this day I don't know what happened. I don't know if it was something in his dry dog food, something in the yard (I lived in Long Barn at the time), or something else. I will never know. What I do know is Dr. Rubenstein, Sarah, Jason and Brian have given me more time with Reshard. Yes, he has good days and he has bad days where all he does is sleep. He's a good boy and he's my best friend. Being disabled myself and being on a fixed income, I was allowed to make payments. And, I would do it all again to be able to spend one more day with him. I also know I would never take him anywhere else.

Very personal service, friendly, fun place for pets and people.

The assistant seemed high on drugs while working on our animal. Kept dropping medications and second guessing himself on dosage and couldn't get the vile open for the vaccine. The old doctor grabbed it and simply flicked it open. The assistant is dangerous and shouldn't be working with animals in his current state. The front desk also lost our file and the doctor had to get a print out for reference. Please be advised before you choose this clinic. They are nice but that is not enough.

Won a free checkup on the local radio station. They found out My 8 year old Rat Terrier is in need of a dental treatment. A word to the wise, Don't take your pet's health for granted. Take them for annual checkups without fail! This is truly a good vet and their manner shows it!

My dog had hurt her left front leg and immediately they decided to take her in and help her and get her better which I was so appreciative for and they gave her the parvo shot and her dewormer I honestly cannot think them enough for helping my dog

Loved the vet and staff. No unpretentious BS...they work on the pet with you right there...no secrets behind closed doors. Most importantly they saved our pet's life when our prior vet (Live Oak Vet) said it couldn't be done!!!

Everyone was so nice to our dog, and me. They took us in when our vet said no because there was only one vet there, but Tuolumne only had one too.We really needed to see a vet, we felt it was an emergency.

When no vet would help me with an abandonned rescue cat, Tuolumne Vet Hospital made time for him. Just a lovely staff of real, down to earth people with hearts of gold; and Doc is a knowledgeable, personable, and direct guy who gives it to you straight. I love this place.

Caring, courteous and efficient staff. Dr. Rubenstein is friendly, professional and willing to explain all procedures and give reasons for everything. They all are great with our dogs.

They did an amazing job with Duke. Got almost a record breaking number of foxtails out of his ears and took very good care of my little buddy. And not to mention they were they only place up here to get me seen when everywhere was a week to two week wait time. Good job TVH!

Horrible experience had to wait 2 hours past our appointment time. The prices were outrageous and after my parents little terrier got his shots the Doctor hurt him so bad he could barely walk for 2 days.

My best friend took her family dog here to get put down. It would be an extra 50$ to get her dog sedated before euthanasia. I find it extremely abnormal that there is an option to do it without sedation. The vet assured her that it would be fine and it doesn’t really make a difference because they couldn’t really afford it. Let me tell you, listening to this story broke my heart. Her dog was SCREAMING! They staff was cold and uncaring, they didn’t even want to let the dog have its blanket to die on. I hate to write a review like this but people need to know the facts. Please please PLEASE save yourself the trauma and do NOT go here.

Dr. Rubenstein is a very good vet. His prices are affordable to help with the care of your pets

Doctor Rubenstein and his staff are very caring and kind towards our pets. They are professional and take a genuine interest in our animals. They do their best at getting us scheduled quickly, especially if is critical. They care for our cats and even my chicken. We have been his client for 15 years. Best in town.

Honestly just a very odd and traumatizing visit for my cat. I called for shots (due to their low prices) and she was extremely nervous, it was obvious. Nobody wears a mask or gloves. They did not close the door in the room. There is only one room so there were multiple dogs outside and a one way run to the street if she were to get out of the assistants hands. Everyone was in her face and she was CLEARLY stressed and uncomfortable for her first time there, she had 2-3 people scratching her and in her face at all times. The male assistant was scratching her bum and stomach and she hissed at him because she was clearly upset, I have never heard her hiss and she has yet to hiss since. They didn't let me hold her for temperature and she literally screamed when getting her temperature taken, Sierra Vet helps her stay comfortable, stays quiet, and lets me hold her. It got to the point to where she did actually get out of the assistants grip and thankfully she didn't want to run out, but she literally jumped in my arms. They also checked her for worms as I requested, did not find any, and then continued to give her dewormer. As much as I would love to leave a good review because they are cheaper, I can't. I will be spending the extra money because I care about her comfort and experience. She has not been the same since, all she does is hide and sleep now. Thanks a lot.

We appreciate the staff for (we can tell) truly caring for our special boy, Huckleberry! And because they recommended the rattlesnake vaccine, we got him one of those. They also board Huck when we need...really appreciate Brian there...I know he makes time to play with Huck! Go see em, you'll like em!
