They saved my beloved mare Poke Along 5 years ago. She had a twisted gut and needed surgery. Their after care was fantastic. I am forever grateful!!

Fist time importing a horse - West Coast Equine made this experience incredibly stressful. I did receive ONE call once my horse arrived at their clinic with a fever. However NO communication after that point. I called to check on the temp status, left messages alas NO return calls - NO return e-mails...but they certainly ran my charge card immediately. Thankfully I was able to arrange quick transport from their clinic. Yes, I am still waiting for a detailed invoice / statement on 'services' they provided.

I have had numerous horses in the care of West Coast Equine and both Dr. Kent Sullivan and Dr. Deborah Kemper for over 15 years. Their professionalism and superb veterinary skills have never ceased to amaze me. From minor injuries/vaccinations/routine care to colic surgeries/MRIs/in depth medical or lameness issues/long term care management/leg surgeries/eye surgeries, they have treated every horse and issue with the utmost of respect, attention, care, dignity, and focus. Their work has saved the careers and lives of so many of my horses. Thank you!!!!!!

In my opinion BE AWARE of this facility and Dr. Kemper, I was very disappointed in the manner in which we were treated and I agree with Whit Ney's review completely. The only considerate person I found was the receptionist. Our horse arrived on Qatar Airways in July 2020 from Belgium with pneumonia and spent almost 2 months at West Coast Equine, exhausting our entire medical insurance and more. Every time we visited, shavings barely covered the solid concrete stall floor. Updates were sporadic and inconclusive. Prior to pickup and transfer to UC Davis, I had called to ask all that would be required prior to the release of our horse and received no response, all payments to date had been coordinated on release from our Equine insurance. On arrival, for the prearranged pickup, I was advised that the outstanding balance had to be settled in full, prior to release of our horse, at which point the stall door was chained, padlocked closed by Dr. Kemper and I was held to the outstanding ransom and treated like a criminal. Had I known that 30 days settlement, was no longer an option, I would have made prior arrangements to settle this exorbitant bill. I hope no one is exposed to the hardships I was, however if you are I would not recommend West Coast Equine.

This place is the worst place ever the dr. Kemper lady is a mean nasty woman who really doesn’t care about your horse she seemed very annoyed that I was even there for my poor horse. The employees are the only saving grace to this place they are great and responsive always willing to help or chat when they see you they help calm my nerves about having my horse here. NOw yes my horse did get better but if you want a dr. That cares and is loving towards your animals take your horse else where there are plenty of other places that will love and care for your horse one star this place needs to be shut down or have dr.s there that actually care would not recommend to my worst enemies

The staff here was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the veterinarian was not put off by the many questions I had. They showed us the ultrasounds of the horse's lungs and explained very clearly and concisely the diagnosis and the plan of treatment. They were very patient when the horse was not cooperating with having his blood drawn and allowed me to walk him through the stocks once before locking him in, despite it taking some more time. When we wanted to take a nap in the truck in the parking lot before starting our very long drive home they offered to let us sleep on the couches and to get coffee before we left. They were incredibly kind, every one of them.

Unfortunately, our horse has been here several times, but I can tell you unequivocally that this staff is extraordinary. They are so helpful, so knowledgeable and incredibly supportive. I hope you never need for your precious ones to be here, but know that if they need medical attention, you couldn't find a better place.
