We lost he 5-8-21 to Bloat. I’m sitting here today missing her

Picked up my new female puppy - black standard schnauzer withvuncropped ears

Sylvia Hammarström and her world renowned Schnauzers are more of a “national treasure” than anything. Her knowledge and passion for the Schnauzers is the best in the world!

I'm 25 and have had two giants from here. First was my childhood dog and Sherman from Inherit the Winds and Skansens French champion contact in 2014. Can't say how amazing they both are. Sherman has developed such a bond with me i don't need a leash to take him into stores or the beach and heels whenever I say. Comes to work with me everyday and is my best friend ever. 4 States, 3 trucks and 4 girlfriends later he's always been the one stable thing in my life. We live in Hawaii now and he loves going to the beach daily. Obviously do not get one of these dogs if you can't exercise and train it daily, but if you can, wouldn't recommend anywhere else to get the next member of the family.

I've had the pleasure of speaking with Sylvia Hammerstrom on several occasions. She's very informative and extremely helpful. You can tell she's very attentive to her puppies that Skansen kennels breeds. It's why I would choose them over the competition

I have a female Giant Schnauzer from this breeder. She will soon be 10 years old. She has always been healthy, & I feed & vitamin her per Ms. Hammarstrom 's protocols. This is a breeder of Great Integrity. Never once have I needed help or information that she hasn't been right there to answer the questions, to offer suggestions, & to keep us on track. I would not hesitate to buy from her again, & I would recommend her to friends. My Skansen Giant even detected cancer in my Mom & this knowledge helped us prepare for what was coming. She is my protector, my companion, & the bodyguard for my tiny Chihuahuas. And for this 80 pound powerhouse, she allows her tiny charges thecallusion that they are boss. They correct her, steal from her yet she can send them running to the house with a bark if there is danger. Sylvia Hammarstrom is a master & few are better at selecting the right puppy for you.

I think I put a down and never heard back from these people. Said they’d notify me but never did. After a year I emailed them, they got back to me but never followed up.

Went to pick up my Giant Schnauzer puppy. He was bath,cut and ready for me. So glad they didn't feed him because the ride home was rough got car sick and threw up at least 7 times. So take a plastic shopping bag and paper towels. To help with clean up. If you watch your pup you can tell when he has to vomit and catch in bag. My puppy is already some what potty trained, he went straight to the potty pitt to do his business when we arrived home.. Her dogs are the best. This is my 2nd puppy I've bought from her and you can tell your getting a great dog. They look gorgeous and are very smart. I Plan on buying a white miniature next.

I adopted my very first Schnauzer a retired mama four years old from Skansens adoption program. It’s been just over a month and Ryot has become my best friend. She adapted to indoor living in about 2 weeks and of course I spoil her rotten. She’s learned to play fetch, is house trained, comes with me to work each day and has taken to talking to me when she wants to play ball. What an incredibly beautiful sweet and intelligent breed. Everyone at the kennel has been amazing, I received a ton of information and dvds on care and the Skansen Line and I can still email with questions. I drove 9 hours to pick her up in person and look at the ranch where she was raised... STUNNING comes to mind... CLEAN and very very well run.. dog parks on the property, groomers and more... I was given a full tour and felt very confident that they love these dogs from day one. I also feel special that I was able to take part in this adoption. I am totally in love and hope to have Ryot(Skansens Opera) in my life for many many years. Thank you ❤️

Skansen Kennels is located on 5179 Blank Rd in Sebastopol, CA 95472. You must follow the road to reach the office. Appointments must be made in order to visit the kennel. The staff members Carrie, Laina are remarkable including Sylvia. You're given a great amount of reliable information and plenty of resources and suggestions prior to either your purchase or adoption. The kennel is well taken care of and will never let you down. The connection and bond built here is incomparable. The addition to my family from Skansens along with my experience here, was so awesome, a friend of mine made an addition to his family as well. The schnauzer is a smart, versatile and hardy breed. Get a schnauzer they said, it'll be fun they said.

I fell in love with Skansen when I met my first Giant Schnauzer. Sylvia is very knowledgeable about all three breeds of Schnauzer. She doesn’t fit the needs of every person who wants a Mini, Standard or Giant. Sylvia doesn’t suffer fools, gladly or otherwise. She can be a bit off-putting, maybe even thorny. She is also very knowledgeable and helpful. If you have a Skansen Schnauzer, you can count on Sylvia to advise you any time you ask for her input. She is not a people person but she knows every dog she has. She is the human Wikipedia, Schnauzer Section. If you write to her about getting a Schnauzer from Skansen she will send you a truckload of information. If you think she is wrong about the raw food diet, her thoughts about vaccinations, or the age she allows her puppies to go to their new homes, you can learn what other knowledgeable people think about her point of view or find a breeder you can see eye-to-eye with. I appreciate having had the benefit of Sylvia’s knowledge and experience. I don’t do everything she recommends. I do find value in many of her practices. It is a good fit for us.

Repeat customer and loyal friends!!! We have had two puppies from Skansen over the last ~20 years -yes, BOTH from Skansen. Both have been a part of our family. We had Pfennig, an all-black Standard Schnauzer, for 15 years (before kids even) and LeeLoo, yes - another black standard, for the last 5 years. They continue to be a member of our family. Our family would not be the same without them and just wanted to say "Thank you!", for the PLEASURE of including both in lives. We will continue to call on them again in another 10+ years.

Have two black stsndard Schnauzers from Sksnsen, they are smart, beautiful one 22 months and one 15 years old ....Simply the best!!!!!!

Our standard girl Sophia will be 5 in December. She has the most gracious disposition and is very social. She is very patient and smart when she greets other dogs. Never any aggression from her. Her best playmate is a small male American pit bull! This is our second black female standard from Skansen. Our first girl Elke gave us almost 12 years of joy. I hope during the horrible fires last week that all are safe at Skansen.

I have a mini schnauzer from Skansen. He is now 1 yrs old and doing very well. He was fetching on the 3rd day! He is healthy and easy to train. The little guy has been a great addition to my home. I have a very friendly dog who wants to meet every person and dog outside! He is a huge hit in the neighborhood and all my neighbors are super jealous that he is so intelligent! The kennel staff have been very helpful along the way and did not over promise or under deliver at all. My dog is everything they promised. I also received a written manual that came with him that explains everything you can think of you would need to know + more. I would recommend Skansen to anyone.

My wife and I have gotten three giants and have been in love with all of them. All three have been almost identical in temperment, full of love and affection and very protective but not overly aggressive about it. Our last one is a retired breeding female and she has been a joy. She has been no trouble and bonded with both my wife and myself as well as our other female giant. The two are inseparable.

I have purchased two schnauzers from Sylvia and my giant passed away last year. My mini will be turning 5 years old in July. I just wanna say thank you for the joy these dogs have brought me.????????

We made a deposit in December 2018 for a puppy born in December. Skansen's communication is minimal, they don't know how to or won't take pictures of puppies, we got 1 picture after much requesting. We waited 16 weeks as we wanted the puppies ears cropped. The day before shipping the puppy they informed us that the puppy had an overbite. No pictures or anything to let us know how bad the over bite was. After calling and requesting pictures all I got was an estimate of a 1inch overbite on a puppy costing $2200.00. Since I couldn't visually see the overbite we looked at pictures on the internet of dog overbites, we decided against purchasing the dog. You would think after 40 years breeding Schnauzers that they would be able to identify an overbite more than a day before shipping. On the other hand we couldn't go see the puppy and it might have been show quality and Skansen's used the overbite as a reason for use to not buy the puppy so they could sell it at a higher price. They did waste time, effort and money on the ear cropping which if the dog had an overbite seems like a waste. So one can assume it was all a sham to get us out of the sale. Broke my kids hearts cost me $50 and wasted alot of time and killed my kids hopes and dreams. I would not recommend doing buisness with Skansen's kennel. Update: I did get my 50$ back after I returned the "book" (a bound compilation of older articles) they sent me.

What a tremendous lady! What a stellar breeder. Our Giant Schnaizer is incredible. He is the perfect amount of professional with a loving and playful temperment with the family. We absolutely adore him. Sylvia sent an incredible amount of resources aswell, and for us this was a life saver. We adhere to her diet guidelines, and our dog couldn't be healthier. I can't say enough positive things about Sylvia and her top notch Schnauzers.

Sylvia, Laina, Terri and all the staff are amazing!! The care and love poured into all their dogs and puppies is amazing! And the support after bringing a new puppy home is fabulous! I can’t mention how many times Sylvia has answered s call, or Laina has emailed on a weekend! If you’re looking for a mini, standard or giant Schnauzer, check them out and visit if you’re able! They truly LOVE their dogs, and we love our new family member????????????

We have one of Slyvia's Giant Schnauzers and she just turned two. She is the daily joy of our lives and has a beautiful,calm, temperament that is amazing, in a strong and very athletic body. She is "regal"and a "doll" as friends describe her. We drove a total of over 3000 miles to get her from the place of her birth and that journey will always be a sweet memory in my mind.

Our Standard Schnauzer that we received in April 2017 from Sylvia is just incredible. She is scary smart and beautiful. My friends enjoy my "story of the week " about Leisel's antics and behavior. Sylvia has been very helpful with my questions as we care for our best dog ever.

We purchased our male a little over 8 months ago. He turrned one today a lot of work but what you put in you will get out of these dogs. Skansen Kennels is a must if you are looking for a standard or a giant. Heathy, HAPPY pups.
