Exotic Pet Clinic of Santa Cruz Scotts Valley, California

I am so thankful that I found this vet and they really helped me with my leopard gecko. I am very happy with my experience at this vet.

This was our 1st visit to the clinic. The doctor is very knowledgeable and caring, takes the time to run tests and to talk to you. Needless to say, she has a lot of experience in the field. I'm glad our primary veterinarian recommended us to the Exotic Pet Clinic and I hope that helps us better support our guinea pigs health.

I appreciated the comprehensive exam and the clarity of instructions afterwards. It was also great to be allowed into the exam room so we could see what was happening. Our concerns were heard and followed up on. We were also called back for a procedure that our rabbit needed to prevent further injury, and it was done the very next day. Our rabbit's care there was professional and compassionate. If we had to choose a single thing to say we appreciated the most, it was identifying and immediately taking care of our rabbit's tooth problem before it could do more damage.

This clinic has wonderful, kind, and knowledgeable staff. I greatly appreciated the fact that they provided me emergency exotic pet care during a busy holiday season. And everything was taken care of in less than half a day, which was great since it was a non-trivial drive to that clinic from South Bay. Thank you!

Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. They made me feel comfortable. More importantly the were so sweet and caring to Ricky. He seemed comfortable with them even after the long(his longest) car ride! I loved how friendly everyone was. I feel like I can ask them questions(even if it might be common knowledge) and they won't judge me. They seemed honest. Not once did they try to push anything on me that I didn't need.

Dr. Stern was very knowledgable about parrots and my parrot's species in particular (Pionus). Really feeling fortunate to have found a good avian vet in the area!

We own a pet rat. She needed a mass removed, but has suffered a lung disease for most of her life. Initially they didn't want to use anesthesia because of the risk, but agreed to do an x-ray and possibly the surgery after, if the doctor felt better about it from the imaging. Glad to report our little love made it through, healed from the 4cm incision, and is back to her moody, hilarious self. Thanks so much, Exotic Pet Clinic of Santa Cruz!

This was our first time taking our rabbit to the vet, and we had a great experience. The Exotic Pet Clinic of Santa Cruz is amazing! Staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating & were willing to answer the million questions we had. They were very knowledgeable about rabbits. Our rabbit Nibbler was incredibly nervous, he hates being carried but they cared for him well, gave him a treat and knew exactly what to do for his matted fur. They even sent a check-in text to us after. Would highly recommend going here than to a generalist vet that may not know much about rabbits. It was worth the drive. They also were incredibly transparent about prices which I really liked, showing us an estimate before treatment. Nibbler is doing much better now thanks to them! We are grateful.

Great customer service and was able to squeeze me in last minute for my sick French lop. Took the time to answer all my questions.

Got a Pacman frog from petsmart that was a little unhealthy so brought it in to see Dr. Deng for a checkup. She took great care in examining and was able to offer some helpful advice and guidance..

The service and care for our unique pets has been amazing. We are so glad Dr. Stern was able to open an exotics only veterinary office. Great service from the moment you enter the office till the end of the appointment.

I highly recommend Exotic Pet Clinic of Santa Cruz. I appreciate their friendliness, compassion, and deep knowledge of exotics.

I scheduled non-urgent wellness checks for two birds, they were able to get us in with back-to-back appointments a couple of days after my call. The facility is brand new, with a comfortable waiting area, and a computerized checkin and reminder system (no paper forms!). Dr Stern had a great manner handling the birds, and I appreciated the choice of observing (or not) the exam. We got bloodwork done for both birds, and I was very impressed at how quickly results came (next morning). She was thorough in answering questions about the conditions discovered- risk to other flock members, treatment plan, and how it had been effecting the birds. This clinic is well worth the drive, even if you are not from in town.

Great experience. Easy to checkin, office was clean and welcoming. Team was lovely! Easy process from start to finish.

May take a while to book an appointment for the RHD vaccine, but we're more than happy to wait! Thanks again for the kind care and helping our bun to stay healthy!

i felt the staff and Dr. Stern really cared, even though the outcome in my case was not good. But I will take any other of my exotics to her in a heartbeat. Gentleness and kindness and caring are top.

Dr. Deng and the vet techs were very gentle and soothing towards my pet rabbit, and I felt like I was treated very well, too. They have very reasonable pricing, thorough expertise, and access to the RHDV vaccine.

I appreciate everything about my experience here. The ability to see my rabbit emergency despite a full schedule was such a relief. I felt as though we were a priority even though it was an unexpected emergency. Caring sweet knowledgeable staff. Able to run labs, take X-rays and do surgery all on site. (I am sure there may be some they can't do). Dr. Stern is a long time rabbit vet.

Dr. Stern and her staff are fantastic. They took excellent care of me and my young chick’s fractured leg. They answered all of my questions—and I had a ton—superb communication and care Their entire operation is very well organized and transparent. No surprises and happy animals. I recommend this clinic to anyone with poultry, fowl, and other exotics. Yes, chickens and ducks are considered exotic pets! I like Dr. Stern's comprehensive approach. I recommend her for bunny owners who need a rabbit specialized vet. The hospital also has a supply of RHDV2 vaccines which is difficult to find.

On 8/12/2021, I spoke with Brianna about the condition of my Bearded Dragon named "T". She was so gracious, compassionate, and warm in this difficulty time which eventually became a time of loss for our family. She was very knowledgeable and knew our pet's condition intimately as if it were her own. I so appreciated her spirit and felt comfortable right away with trusting her with the care of our precious pet and family member. She was a comfort in a time of need.

Dr Stern and her team have all been great. They have been very caring, and willing to work with me and our schedule especially since we live almost an hour away, and I work nearly two hours away. My guinea pig, Mr Bingley, was having difficulty eating and I suspected his molars have become overgrown. They were able to see him fairly quickly all things considered (almost all veterinary hospitals in the Bay Area have been booked out for weeks), and we were able to keep him comfortable until his dental today. His molars, and the rest of his teeth, have been trimmed and he is now happily eating again. Thank you Dr Stern and team!
