PLEASE BEWARE. We were greatly discouraged and disappointed with the care provided at Foothill. I will NEVER take my dog there again. The office was non-responsive to calls, over-prescribed unnecessary medicines and was completely unprofessional when I pushed back on the ridiculouslessness of having to pay additional exam fees after already having a full exam, blood panel and a myriad of other questionable procedures done. It's a SHAME they are allowed to practice medicine in this manner. UNBELIEVABLE.

I have been taking my dog to Foothill Pet Hospital for a few years now, to a wonderful vet, then unfortunately, he retired! Shortly after some new vets moved in and my experience has been ok. I had a scare with my dog swallowing something and the communication was not great. It worked itself out thank goodness. We now have a new kitty that needed a wellness check and saw Dr Overskei. He was so rude I could not believe my ears. They insisted on performing a procedure that had already been done somewhere else and were not listening. I have lost trust in them. There are some good people there but it’s a mixed bag. Including what must have been a new vet technician. So disappointed and was seriously afraid for my kitty.

This is my first experience at FPH, so I am keeping an open mind and giving them a try. So after giving a try so far it's all disappointment! Was sent home with "cough tablet", nails clipped (my request), can't verify anything else as have not talked to vet since Friday, "cough tablets" not helping at all, cough is actually worse...I could go on but it's late at night and I'm tired!

Treated my cat with so much kindness that I wasn't sure he was going to leave with me. Staff was very professional and price was great.

Worse service every time I take my cat. Today they made us wait 30 mins and they never came outside for her. I don't recommend this place.

If you love your pet, don't go here.

Shady business since Dr. R left, staff says one thing and then comes back and says another. They will not give you a refill when you are still within the time frame from your last visitation date, seems like they are trying to squeeze as much money from a situation as possible. Have came here with my pup since he was twelve weeks old, and six years later we will be finding another care provider. Good luck, I would not recommend this provider

The staff of Foothill Pet Hospital are amazing! They have really developed an effective practice working within Covid restrictions. This practice uses naturopathic methods along with conventional veterinary care.

We asked Foothill Pet Hospital to examine (2) rescue dogs that we wanted to adopt. Due to covid we had to make and appt and leave the dogs all day. We got the dogs back but not the results. They continually made promises they did not keep. After almost $1,000 we had to beg for the results for days. Promises for callback were flatley ignored. No written report on the health exam was provided although some blood results were finally emailed with no explanation. extremely disappointed in this establishment and their practices.

Very nice knowledgeable caring staff. They fit my little rat in during the pandemic and were totally overbooked but worked overtime to keep up with the need for services. Even called me back at 639, they close at 5, to answer some of my questions after I got the rat home. And I had only mentioned that my friend whowas taking the rat over and picking him up that it was his birthday and I felt bad to have him running errands for me. They actually came out to the parking lot and wished him happy birthday. Very nice staff and good care. Lots of vets don't treat rats well but they did. And reasonable prices, listened to my input about his issues and took time even when overbooked and working overtime during the pandemic. Really care about your animals♥

Under new ownership. The two new female veterinarians are much more into a holistic approach to pet care.

We have been bringing all of our cats and dogs over the years here for years. The staff seems to have changed here and there but they always are thorough and competent. It's a convenient location with plenty of parking and even a small grassy area in the front if your animal needs go relieve themselves before going inside. (There are other pet hospitals and vets in town that are located in areas with street parking only and no sidewalks only so I see this as a pretty significant perk. I won't name their names here.) I give them four stars because they tend to always be running late. I'm not sure why. I have often been stuck in a room with my dog for up to an hour and that doesn't include sitting in the front waiting room first. This doesn't include reviewing the history with the vet tech and getting the animals weighed. This is waiting to be seen by the vet. For something as simple as renewing flea and tick meds. If this happened once it would be fine but the long wait is the main reason why I am giving them four stars and if I could, 3.5 stars. They are just slow with everything. Like your time doesn't matter to them. It's also the main reason I would consider finding another vet if I got a good recommendation from someone I trusted. Bottom line, they will be attentive to your animals, they are knowledgeable and helpful, and offer a wide variety of services. My animals always feel comfortable there and safe with everyone who works there. But be prepared for them to suck away your morning or afternoon depending on when your appointment is scheduled. It could very well be that there are emergency animals that come in and take priority since it is a hospital and they just don't have a good system down for dealing with scheduled appointments. However, it just seems like everyone that works there moves at a slower pace than the rest of the world. It's my only issue with them.

We took our cat to the vet for a cold/cough. I am very disappointed with the treatment my cat received. The vet prescribed him asthma treatment, despite it not being the issue, and we had to get a follow up prescription to actually help with the cold. He did not cough at the vet (due to stress/adrenaline), but we were not given anything to help that until we called multiple times after getting home and the cough had worsened. The main thing that bothered me was that it took 2 hours for them to do an xray and draw blood, and when they brought him back to us (nothing was done in front of us), there was no information given to us about what's going to happen next or anything we can do at home. My cat had blood on his claws as well. If he was resisting the blood draw or xray that much, tell us, and we can find an alternative rather than continuing to torture my cat. We also opted for blood work due to possible kidney health issues, but they did a full panel that checked things like FIV and leukemia, which is not relevant at all. A renal panel is all he needed. The receptionists and the assistants were friendly, but unfortunately that won't un-traumatize my cat.

TERRIBLE DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE. The exotic animals vet is extremely uneducated and misdiagnosed my rabbit, despite her having a FATAL disease which another vet diagnosed as soon as she walked in the room 2 days later. Ran up a bill for $226 and did not help my bunny at all

Fantastic vet, and fantastic staff. The vet always takes a lot of time with you and explains things well, and the staff always go an extra mile to help you.

Overall I have had excellent service here for my 3 dogs. I have been to other vets in Santa Barbara (since my first dog in 1973) with previous pets and have not been satisfied. I tried Foothill and Dr Rittenberg on recommendation after I got a new dog. I was very happy with the care and prices. He did a serious surgery on one of my "girls" and she pulled thorough fine, healed fast, and the cost was reasonable for what she had done. I expected a bill much higher than it was. I office is clean, friendly, and convenient to Hwy 154.

They are very kind to my dog, despite his rambunctious behavior. I also just like the feeling of the building as well.
