Nothing but good things to say about the Veterinary Emergency Group. It’s a place you never want to go but if you are in that unfortunate situation of looking for a reliable emergency vet clinic, this one is the one to go to. Our puppy had …

Everyone we interacted with was extremely kind and caring, took time to listen to us and explain what they were doing/planning for our puppy. The team was also very efficient, which was a relief for us and our very anxious boy. …

We had a sad experience here these last couple of days. Our old dog, who for her whole life would eat anything and everything she could find, no matter how hard we tried to prevent her, came in after ingesting something that was clearly poisonous (likely a mushroom). Dr. Kevin Baker was wonderful the night we came in - attentive, smart, caring. Guided me through the weirdly convoluted process of trying to identify the mushroom (ASPCA poisons hotline and a Facebook group of volunteers who were wonderful). The vet nurse (Kylie?) was just lovely. Didn't leave my dog's side and comforted her while I was doing what I could to help get the mushroom identified. The initial poisoning was treated successfully thanks to all mentioned above and things looked good last night, but old age and pre-existing conditions caught up with her and while preparing for discharge this morning, she took a turn for the worse and we decided to keep her in for more monitoring. A few hours later, we got a call telling us that new blood tests indicated that she had entered kidney failure. Dr. Melissa Ogg took over care this morning and was equally wonderful - humane, sweet, understanding, patient. Beyond the care we received, once I got over the initial sticker shock of the estimate, I was really pleased to see how they worked to control costs, which came in well under the estimate. One particular detail that stuck with me was as we were preparing to move her to a room where she would be put down, she rolled over and collapsed and her heart stopped on its own. Dr. Ogg explained this and said she would administer the lethal cocktail (which was already prepared) to be sure, which she did promptly (this was within a minute of her collapsing). At this point, the money doesn't matter, but once I got home and I saw that the cost of the lethal injection was crossed out on our bill it just reinforced the feeling that we had been taken care of by people who genuinely cared about us and our pet, felt our pain and were deeply ethical and caring. I don't know if/when we'll get another dog, and even if so, I'd hope to never have to visit an emergency vet again, but I'm glad this place exists, would recommend them to anyone, and would return in a heartbeat if I ever had to.

VEG is the best. Several visits for post op dressing changes after surgery elsewhere, ultimately leading to a 1 week “spa” stay at VEG for IV antibiotics, the care here was exceptional! The staff was amazing and the ONLY hospital that allowed 24/7 visits. Very hard to have my guy be anywhere but home with me, but knowing he was being well taken care of and spoiled by the staff made me feel much better.

Took our pup here a couple of times. It's a bit of a drive out for us but we never had to wait to be seen. Staff is always friendly and welcoming to both human and dog.

I had no idea that taking my dog to the emergency could actually be a pleasant experience! From the moment we walked in, we (and Moose, particularly) we’re made comfortable. I drove the hour to see them bc they were able to take Moose immediately, where our own vet VCA had a WEEK wait to see our dog (even though it was an emergency and we had been a client of theirs for 10+ years) At VEG you’re allowed to stay with your pet and comfort them during their checkups. The waiting room for us (humans and pets) has water, snacks and dog treats. I really could not have asked for a better experience.

We had a very late-night scare on the night before Christmas eve that our kitten, Cooper, had possibly swallowed a stud earring. She had gotten into the jewelry, and we had discovered there was a missing piece from a set and couldn't find it anywhere. After calling, we were able to get all checked in via phone before arriving, and they immediately brought us in to get her weighed and checked upon our arrival. The facility was modern, spotless, and seemed extremely well-equipped. The staff was super nice and helped us feel at ease while they promptly gave our girl an X-ray to check for the earring. To our relief, Cooper had not swallowed anything! The vet was even nice enough to bring us over and show us the X-ray results to comfort us without us asking. And then... THEY DIDN"T EVEN CHARGE US!! They said don't worry about it, and happy holidays! My partner and I almost started crying on the spot. What an incredibly kind gesture from this professional establishment and their excellent staff. We cannot understate how positive this experience was for us. And as a conclusion to the story, we found the missing earring the next day. What a relief! Thank you so much for everything, Veterinary Emergency Group of San Ramon.

VEG was literally the best experience I’ve ever had at a veterinary office even though sadly our cat wasn’t able to pull through. Keanu had a bowel obstruction after ingesting a number of hair ties and a long thread that held them all together. Unfortunately we didn’t know that and waited months too long (we tried diet changes and antibiotics when instead we should’ve had an ultrasound done - our fault for trying to save money and not realizing how urgent the situation was). I wish I could remember our doctor’s name (Dr. Gog?) and buy her a gift because she was truly amazing. Long story short - she went above and beyond to help Keanu through his surgery even though his situation was not good at all. I can’t express how thankful we are for her kindness and efforts. Also, the place is so welcoming - from the front desk to the nurses to the doctors. They really care and pay attention to you. I wish they did primary care! If we ever have a pet emergency again, I’ll be going to VEG.

Have been here twice when our dog had emergencies and by far the best emergency vet experience, even the best vet experience, we have had in the Bay Area. They make sure to get to your pet as soon as possible, even working on the floor or in the lounge to see more patients. Our dog was in a lot of pain before the vet was ready and a tech immediately came and gave him some pain meds and made sure he was stable. They also explained everything super thoroughly and answered all of our questions. They told me everything they were doing and what they were thinking each step of the way. Both times we left feeling such relief - once after we had waited all day at another emergency vet only to be told to come back the next day and wait again. They also helped me carry my dog to the car when they were done treating him, and were generally just super nice. Very kind, caring people. The one thing I would say is that they have kind of an open layout where you can see all of the animals being treated, so if you are squeamish, it is probably best to stay in the waiting room...

Dr. Ogg and her staff were absolutely amazing with our dog. They were thorough and thoughtful. We highly recommend VEG. They weren’t any out rages fees or pressure to do any unnecessary tests.

Brought our bunny here around midnight on Thanksgiving. Staff was amazing, knowledgeable, and willing to speak with me on the phone before I even brought our bun down. Check in and estimate approval all done through my phone. Was in and out in a couple hours with everything we needed to care for our pet. It was quite a drive from where we live but I definitely recommend.

Had to sadly go to the vet at 4am with our rabbit. Having dealt with stasis in rabbits before i knew we had to get him seen ASAP and get him on meds and out of pain. VEG had a rabbit savvy Doctor on staff even at 4am and he brought me up to speed in new treatment plans that are being suggested by the exotics experts. Treated him onsite to get him comfortable, did a full exam and sent home with meds. The vet tech let us stay with Remy the whole time even during the treatments. Remy was back to him self the next day.

I had a small emergency with my puppy post surgery over the weekend. VEG staff was 10 star as was the outcome for my Puppy. Hardly ever leave any type of review online but they deserve it. Friendly. Clear. Direct. Helpful. Effective. Everything you could wish for if the pet in the family needs help. And on a Sunday to boot. Thank you all!

Great people, latest equipment, did everything they could do within reason. We suspect my dog ate something with bad bacteria. He was in a terrible situation. These folks no doubt saved his life.

Excellent 24/7 clinic, caring staff, and provide sound effective care during an emergency. This hospital allows you to see what’s going on and allows you to stay close to your pet during an emergency. I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Alex and I was extremely impressed with his knowledge and fast diagnosis. I will 100% be recommending this clinic for pet emergencies.

ANGELS WORK HERE!! My leopard gecko quickly developed tail rot (a deadly issue for reptiles) and has never had any health problems in the past (so she's never been to a Vet). Scrambling to find a Vet that specialized in reptiles since time was of the essence for my gecko, I was referred to Veterinary Emergency Group through a couple standard Vet offices in the area. My husband and I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER with how the entire experience went! I first took her in to be evaluated by Dr. Kevin Baker who not only diagnosed her, sent us home with antibiotics & pain medications, but was able to determine the best steps to move forward with. He reassured me the whole way through and even spoke with many other reptile Vets that he's connected with to ensure he provided me with the best options for care/treatment. It was clear that her tail had to be removed in order to save her life - and fast. After spending a couple days looking into reptile surgeons, her future was looking very bleak since everyone either didn't perform surgeries on reptiles or, they were completely booked up for 2 months - she'd be long gone before then. Once I told Dr. Kevin Baker at Veterinary Emergency Group this news, he decided to do the surgery for her in order to save her life. He was fully transparent with us and explained that although he had never performed a surgery on a leopard gecko before, he had spent a lot of time researching/learning about it, had consulted with other reptile surgeons on the prep, surgery itself, what to expect, post-care, etc. He was well equipped to perform it and was eager to lend a helping hand! He even worked with us on getting a great price since it was his first time performing a surgery! He was able to perform on her within a couple of days and the surgery was a massive success! He also did an x-ray on her as well to confirm the cause of the tail rot (due to trauma) - she had 5 fractures in her tail cutting off the blood supply! He and his team took us from a nightmare of a situation, to an absolute miracle and we cannot thank them enough! Thanks to Dr. Baker and the team, our leopard gecko is back to her happy, healthy self and we look forward to many more years with her! Big shout out to Dr. Kevin Baker, Jessica, Sandy, Cassie, & Petra!!! We love you and will be sure to keep you in mind for any future needs as they may arise! You are absolute angels performing miracles! :)

First of all. I just wanna say that I don’t usually write reviews ever, but the people who work here were just extremely helpful, caring and overall very very nice that I felt like I had to this time, since I couldn’t thank them enough. my 11 month old puppy had food poisoning in the middle of the night, So I rushed her there from Oakland as all the other ER were backed up, they quickly reassured me and had me go in with her while they were doing the tests. The set up inside is very spacious and practical. They are very responsive on the phone and will take the time to talk and answer questions. The place is Extremely clean!!! Like a 5 star hotel. All in all both of the times I’ve gone there. Literarily everybody working there were just so nice and helpful. I would highly recommend . And as a matter of fact, i will go here everytime even if I have to drive 40 minutes. It is still very worth it ( thank you DR PERKINS for everything you did for Rosie, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts)

We drove down from Napa for after hour emergency care- we could not have ended up in a better place! Everyone was so kind, gave our dog excellent care, and I loved how we were able to be very involved and right with our dog throughout the process. I'm so happy we ended up at VEG in San Ramon! I could not recommend them any more highly!

DO NOT COME HERE FOR BIRDS!! Called the vet early morning and was told that they help birds.. drove from Vallejo just for them to leave us in the room for 1 WHOLE HOUR and then have the doctor tell us he is not a specialist for birds. He automatically saw our bird and stated there has been cases like our bird and said it was critical. Like sir, you just said you're not a specialist for birds... why do you have to say something if you are not 100% certain about what our bird has? Our bird was vomiting and had watery diarrhea and yet the doctor did not take one look at him and then told us to go to UC Davis or try another hospital. Sad to also experience that our poor bird was not feeling well and was even ask to take his picture.. Animals come here to receive help that they need and we have been stressing all day about our bird just to find out that nothing could be done...We tried so hard to look for an avian hospital or at least find a pet hospital that could take a look at our bird. At least mention on the website or tell your clients on the phone that you guys don't see birds.. SIMPLE. sorry for this review but this is what happened. Thanks to the Lord that he ended up getting better once we got home.
