Marin Pet Hospital San Rafael, California

When our former vet sold his business to a large chain owned by NY investors, there was a high personnel turnover and prices skyrocketed. Our new Rough Collie needed to be fixed and the old clinic on D Street made an outrageous estimate. We hunted around, looking at reviews and websites and called several for estimates. Marin Pet Hospital was well-reviewed, professional, polite, and responsive, even in the midst of COVID restrictions. We didn’t necessarily want the cheapest operation — we love and care for our Collie. But we also didn’t want to unnecessarily transfer our money into the pockets of super rich investor who care only about the money and push managers to treat pet care like a factory operation. Turned out to be a great choice. Great personnel, personal service, even follow-up calls to see how he’s doing. We’ve now switched our Bearded Collie over, as well. The only reason we haven’t rated this at five stars is that we’re such new clients, but I have every expectation of raising it to five stars over time.

Thank you Dr. Sholin for your expertise, compassion, excellent communication and understanding of Mer’s health condition and crisis. You were so helpful in your diagnosis and suggestions during and at the end of Mer’s life on Friday 07/16/21. We were so fortunate and very grateful that you were available and newly working at Marin Pet Hospital, prior to his demise. We cannot thank you enough for your excellent care of our beloved cat. I've been going to Marin Pet Hospital for over ten years. They are no nonsense, friendly, and very good at the way they give information. They don't pressure me into anything. They give price point options and have Been the most affordable Vet in Marin. This is where staff from Marin Humane Society brings their personal pets.

Amazing vets who have been there for our 15 year old Tibetan Spaniel for most of her life. Even when we moved (27 times in 13 years) they always faxed all her records to the temp vet (and we had the temporary vet fax their records to Marin so her records were always complete and with them). They always remembered us when we were back in town. Even now that we moved to and bought our hopefully permanent house in Novato, I still bring our dog there because she has kidney failure and they take amazing care of her (and it's worth it to me even though we live next to a new and well-reviewed vet center) to keep her treatment with them. She's had multiple different vets there but I trust them all. And I always enjoy seeing the staff who work at the front desk because they are all just the sweetest people ever. Updated, 1/3/2021: Sanchi is 18 years old now. She's been with this hospital through two (maybe three?) vets, and all staff, old and new, are still excellent. We've since adopted a son and a Bassett hound, both currently 3.5 years old. Sanchi has stage four renal failure, dementia, cloudy cataract eyes, some hearing issues, but has become even more confident and alpha with every passing year. Right before Xmas, these heroes saved her life after squeezing her in for an appointment when they are clearly overworked AF. The coronavirus has made their jobs even harder and more anxious, I'm sure, but they still were able to save her life with emergency surgery and manage to soothe me when I was beyond exhausted, distraught and with a toddler in the backseat. I have moved up north and kept them as her vet. That's how much their care means t o me. And they saved her life when I had no hope. They gave me a Christmas miracle when our family needed it (we had a death we were dealing with and lots of other stressors coinciding that they had no knowledge of, and so we really extra needed her to live for our mental health. Haha.) Thank you for giving us a win.

Excellent veterinary care and compassionate staff; to a person, caring individuals who go the extra mile for you and your pet. When in the midst of an animal crisis, one often neglects the reality of finances. Marin Pet remains notably reasonably priced but, further, the vets will not, as I have experienced elsewhere, recommend tests for the sake of checking off a box - their knowledge and experience, together with the patient and client's circumstances guide their treatment.

I cannot say enough good things about the staff and Dr.Schoengart.After years of bringing my Chihuahua (Henry) in for various emergencies,exams,check-ups,dental work,and monthly nail trimmings I would recommend Marin Pet Hospital to anyone who has a beloved pet.Time and time again they were kind , loving and professional with my little boy. I just want to say thank to Dr.Schoengart for all the times you helped Henry when I didn't have a lot of money.You were very kind and loving with Henry's passing and I am very grateful for your help. 5/1/20- I also want to thank Dr. Hoffman on the excellent job she did with(my dog) Shebas dental work .3 weeks after surgery I can tell that Sheba feels 100% better without a mouth full of decayed teeth and absesses in her mouth.Dr. Hoffman was very compassionate and professional and answered all my questions.I appreciate that.

Dr Lisa Frank is wonderful. Very kind to my dog and good about explaining everything and the options offered. I also feel they are far more reasonable than other vets.

Dr Lisa Franck is an amazing, compassionate vet. We took our sick kitty here for a second opinion after an exploratory surgery recommendation quote of $8-$10K. Dr Lisa Franck was willing to examine and treat kitty for reasonably less. I highly recommend Marin Pet hospital and Dr Franck!

What sets this Vet apart from others. Is the "I can" attitude, beliefs, and suggestions. As opposed to many other Vets giving me a mediocre answer . I have come to believe that the others do not believe in their skills as the Vets and Surgeons do here at the Marin Pet Hospital. My dog Odin is special needs with preexisting health conditions. I highly highly recommend this office to any in the WHOLE BAY area. I have been to the east Bay, North Bay, South Bay and outside of the Bay Area seeking assistance for Odin. The Marin Pet Hospital is the best. The care the staff has for animals is bar none. The experience is more than others or it seems that way because of their belief in themselves and the can-do attitude and positive imagery for the outcome . I do not think anyone would be disappointed with their experience here if they tried them out with one appointment.

Dr. Frank is very kind and helpful, as are all the staff especially Dawn at the front desk. We've boarded our pets there as well, and they came home happy and healthy

Even though our cat was not already a patient they were very good about seeing her quickly and taking care of her dental abscess without removing any teeth. Our cat and we are very happy.

After 20 yrs. of bringing my pets there they were rude and unprofessional. Refusing to cut my dogs nails if he does not have an exam. He is healthy and is having no issues that require an exam. There is no law mandating that an animal needs an exam to cut his nails. Just a way to rack up the vet bills. Numerous people I know have left Marin Pet Hospital because of very poor service.

Over more than 20 years, Marin Pet Hospital has been there for our family, which has included 5 dogs and 4 cats (not all at the same time!). They have kept all of our pets well, immediately responded during emergencies, and treated our pets (and us!) with kindness and empathy when inevitably we've had to make end-of-life care choices. They are as important to us as our kids' pediatrician. Thank you, Marin Pet Hospital!
