Truly a brilliant vet. We started with him when we lived in Pasadena and keep coming back even though we're now a 2 hour drive away (one way). He is really that good. He has saved our dog's life multiple times, and we have the comfort of knowing that when he says it's time to let her go, that we will know without any doubt that it's time (she's 15). He has given us so much more time - and high quality time - with her than we ever would have had otherwise.

Dr. Watanabe is truly one of a kind. A warm, caring, and extremely knowledgeable vet, he took such wonderful care of our labrador, Benji when we lived in San Marino. Our dog knew him by name and got so excited when we mentioned Dr. Watanabe, let alone when we met him during check ups. We will never forget the kindness, compassion, and love he showed our dog during his later years and especially during his last visit before my parents moved to India with Benji. Dr. Watanabe and his staff (especially Mary!) are simply the best and definitely worth going to.

Dr. Watanabe is AWESOME! He is very knowledgeable and extremely good with his patients. You should see all the dogs perk up when they see him because seeing him means treats. He has built up that type of positive rapport with his furry clients as well as their doting "parents ". His staff is very good and professional. The office is immaculate. Couldn't be happier!

I have brought our dogs to Dr. Watanabe since he first started practicing at Glendale Small Animal Hospital over 30 years ago. You can't teach what this doctor knows because he has an inherent brilliance for medicine and a thirst for knowledge and growth. Why I took my dog (megaesophagus diagnosed by Dr. W 10 years ago and now Silicosis from inhaling diatomaceous earth) is beyond me. 2 vets in my area got it wrong, the radiologists got it wrong, and what it boils down to is ignorance and poor communication and listening skills. Lovely human being, consummate professional and brilliant practitioner.

Dr. W. has been our vet for 20+ years and six different cats. He is just the best: a real healer who takes his work enormously seriously, while at the same time having a "bed-side" manner that many physicians should envy. (He also knows the professional literature upside-down and inside-out.) I would trust him with any furry little friend .. . BIG ones, too!

We started coming to the San Marino Veterinary Clinic when we were living in Pasadena and even after we moved to North Hollywood we keep coming back to this great little veterinary clinic. Veterinary doctor Wattabe is extremely knowledgeable and very passionate about the great work that he does. Their staff can be somewhat cold at times and definitely expect to wait about 15-20 minutes past your appointment time but that is because their vets really take the time to talk with you over your concerns and explain everything their doing which is one of the things we really appreciate and really shows us that they care about what they do.

One of the best vets in the state. Dr. Watanabe has been around for decades. It's not like going to another vet, it feels like home. My animals literally pull me over to get inside. He will only recommend what your pet needs, and is able to treat some of the more obscure and difficult diagnoses. Cash/Check only.
