I had a great experience! This is my first time where I have the sole responsibility of a puppy and I was so nervous that I wasn't doing everything right. Everyone there took the time to let me sit down and go through every single question I had written down on my list and thoroughly answered me. They let me know which food would be best for my dog and even gave me a a starter pack so I could transition my puppy right away. I am doing clicker training and the vet was amazing at being on board. The vet did not give my puppy attention or pets until my dog stopped jumping on her and sat like I asked. It was so nice to have someone help me with my training! Another great part of my experience was when one of the employees offered to help carry my puppy when I obviously didn't have enough hands! They even called me the next day to check up on my dog. I'm telling ya, these people really made me feel as though they care. I am so glad I brought my dog to this facility. Everyone was so knowledgable, friendly, and went the extra mile for me. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience. I have peace of mind as a new dog mama now. They even made sure I had the info for a 24/7 urgent care for my puppy. Take your fur babies here!

I brought in my male 10 year old beloved cat Spunky, who was barely urinating for the prior 2 days, on short notice Sunday. Dr. Kaplan was the only vet holding down the fort, the entire day, and I'm pretty sure she was booked solid. When she heard what was happening with my sick boy, she told me to bring him in!! After an exam and discussing his symptoms, Dr Kaplan did some tests, and determined that my boy had cystitis, and was very dehydrated. She made a care plan, and went over the plan and costs. She never pushed anything unnecessary, as she only ever suggests what is best for the pet...ever! She is a wonderful, skilled, caring, honest and ethical professional, so, of course I said go for it. What a blessing she is. My boy is getting better, though it will take a little while to clear up completely. Thanks to Dr. Kaplan, he is on the road to recovery. Also, the techs were awesome...so gentle and caring. Thank you ABC!

We brought in our doggie Molly for serious health issues on a Sunday morning. They diagnosed her with many internal problems, but were able to help her feel so much better with medications and hydration. Molly is part of our family and we love her very much. ABC was able to fit us in last minute and made her feel so much better.

I've brought my 2 dogs here for over 10 years. Their prices have greatly increased and Service decreased. I'm disliking this place even more every time I bring my dogs and plan to change vets.

One of the only places I've been able to get an appointment within 3 days. They have been super helpful explaining what my dog had and what the next steps were, and they were able to perform a minor surgery on my doggie the same day of consultation.

Unfriendly and unprofessional service from technicians. Long waits dripping off dogs for appointments and/or kenneling. Lousy long process to be seen. I asked a technician who picks up dogs at car why the phone to call in to announce that I am here takes so long, and she responded rudely. She told me to take my dogs somewhere else. I will!

Excellent care, thorough, reliable and excellent service and professionalism! Only detractor for me is the cost plans. I never leave an appointment for under $400. Especially given these were for routine services.

ABC VET has taken excellent care of our four different dogs for the past twelve years. Awesome, professional, understanding and knowledgeable staff! Highly recommended.

ABC has excellent veterinarians and staff. They are always helpful and courteous when I go there. My pup loves going to see the vets and staff at ABC as he knows they will take care of him. I was fortunate to have Dr. Neichin, the Chief of Staff, perform knee surgery on Sam, he was/is definitely the best (he recently retired). I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a vet in San Diego. I live in Mira Mesa and travel to San Marcos (25 minutes) for Sam’s care because I really like ABC and how they treat Sam.

I've been going to the ABC vet and Hillcrest since the late '90s. That place took care of my sick kitty for many years before she finally passed. Everybody there treated me and my cat like family and they even have a photo collage or her on the wall now. Since moving to San Marcos and coming to this ABC vet, I've got to say I have mixed feelings. During covid when my other kitty started dying from cancer, the doctors were amazing. They gave a sound advice that we didn't doubt and knew we were doing the right thing. They were extremely compassionate throughout the entire process. Since covid, however, they seem far less compassionate and far less knowledgeable. We have an older cat that goes in for B12 shots once a month. Every time we go there they ask us for the B12 and we tell them they store it there. They asked this every time, and I don't understand why they can't make a note that they keep it there. But what really bugs me, is that we brought our kitten in for a checkup, mind you they scheduled it for us when he turned a year old. When we got there they asked us what was the purpose of the appointment, they said I had to wait around for the doctor to get there to discuss what I want. What? I wanted them to do the check-up they told me to come in for. When I asked for my cat back, the assistant came out strutting and swinging my cat in it's carrier. She throws the cat in my car and says she doesn't care what I have to say. I reached out to the owner via email and phone - never heard back. tl;dr: great doctors, horrible assistants.

Most veterinarians help your dog or cat to stay healthy, I really like ABC because they do that, but also communicate so readily and positively that I also feel better after the experience because I stress out less about the illness to my pet.

I was shopping around for a different vet for my Frenchie. I set up a wellness check and what we thought would be an easy visit turned into a 4 hour visit. They decided to have a midday staff meeting and apparently the vet that saw the dog was unaware of it. As i was waiting to check out, no one called to take payment as i was waiting in the lot for someone to call back. I called back, the receptionist took my payment and said my dog will be out in a “few minutes”. Time passed by, and I was still waiting for my dog to come out. They finally called and notified me of a staff meeting happening and asked to come back in a hour and they would call me to let me know he was done. A hour and a half later, still no call. I showed up back to the vet and still had to wait an additional 20 mins to get my dog back. We were at the vet at 1020am for a 1030 appt for a wellness check and didn’t get our dog back until after 2pm. I don’t understand what their version is of a “few mins” or a hour but it definitely took much longer than it needed to. I understand things are delayed with covid, however, there should be better communication on their end when discussing time frames. If you decide to have a staff meeting in the middle of a business day, maybe finish with your current patients before shutting down the business and phone lines. Or better yet, how about having a staff meeting before or after business hours. Also, before treating our pet, it would have been nice if we were presented pricing for everything before services took place. Not a Great first impression. We decided to stick with our current vet.

We have a kitty which is very special to our family as a companion. Dr Caplan has been his vet and she has taken such good care of him. A year ago he was attack by our neighbors dog and almost lost his tail and Dr Caplan was able to save it. When we are out of time we also board him at ABC.

Called to make an appointment for an international travel health certificate for our cat. Was told when making the appointment that I would get the certificate the same day. Well, during the visit I was told the certificate would be shipped to us. I paid an extra $70 for an overnight shipping label, but to no avail. The day before our flight I called the vet again to ask for help, but all I got was that it was ' out of there hands'. After much talking I was finally able to get at least a domestic travel certificate, however, the airline did not accept it so we had to leave our beloved cat behind. During no point in time the the staff from ABC apologized for misinforming me, they just said the staff that made the appointment didn't know. How about you train your staff properly so people don't have to leave behind their pets when moving to another continent?! I never got the feeling that they cared about my issue either, they never expressed any emotions regarding our difficult situation of facing to have to leave our cat behind. Terrible situation, please don't go here for your international travel health certificate, it's not worth the pain it will cause you! Addition: The response from the owner makes it clear that she didn't even read my review. Who would go back for another visit if they moved to another continent AND had to leave their pet behind due to their fault? I live in Europe and don't have my beloved cat with me. If you truly care about what happened, the least you could do is refund me for the vet visit!

We loved this place until the owner retired and they went corporate. What vet is booked up for a week? I'm not sure what is going on with this place. I receive emails that they are closed for training or meetings. At the same time, if you call for an appointment, don't expect to get your sick dog in to see a vet in less than one week. Sadly, this place has gone downhill very quickly with the retirement of Dr. Neichin.

I am so thankful they got me in on the same day. My little girl was sick with an infection. They got me in, checked out my pup, got a treatment plan and back home we went with meds. They are very loving, patient and took the time to listen to my concerns. I felt like my dog was there dog. I am so appreciative the high quality service I received.

I always have such a great experience here and I love the staff. I always feel like my fur babies are in great hands and well taken care of. They are straight forward with procedures and pricing. I won’t take my fur babies anywhere else. Thank you ABC!!

I know with ABC veterinary I can feel safe and assured taking my little Chihuahua Bella here every time for all her important needs. Bella is happy here and so am I. Yesterday again I had a perfect experience while they gave Bella her 3 year rabie shot while I waited in my car. I am the kind that always wants Bella by my side in a light carry cart until her Vet can see her and after so with Covid restrictions of having to stay outside in my car while they come get her and then bring her back had me worried for nothing as they always handle her the same way as before with great loving care. Bella always comes back to me just fine and happy as if she were never gone. She actually enjoys their loving attention every time she goes there and I get a good report everytime about how they love her sweet cooperative behavior they are always amazed. I will use ABC forever as they always know exactly what she needs which is worth every penney for my piece of mind and Bella's well being. Thank You Dr. Wandrey and others I been referred to there along with your whole Staff.
