Mission Animal Hospital San Luis Obispo, California

Took my pup for vaccination, rabies and microchip. They took her back only to return quickly with the bill and rabies tag. I paid and asked where the microchip information was. The tech went to check and came back telling me the microchip nor the Rabies shot had been done. They took my pup back in to complete the job I already paid for. Unacceptable! I hope my pup truly got what she was supposed to. This place has lost some good people and has truly gone down hill. There was a time I sung their praises, now I’m off to Creekside vet. They also have added a “clinical support charge “ of 9.50 set for company bonuses… absolutely not! Bye.

I would call this highly unethical. Charge me $200 over the quote. Then tell me it’s standard. Then why not be upfront about all these standard injections. This was also excluding other items they tried to Upsell. So done with the wallet gouging. I am so upset.

I have never been treated as horribly in my life. The staff and the one Veterinarian that I spoke to were rude, condescending, and completely unprofessional. I have owned 3 retail stores and worked in retail all of my life. I understand how to deal with the public, I also understand how stressful it can be dealing with the public. This was different.

We split our time between Los Angeles and SLO and we always make sure that when we need to take our dog for a vet appointment It’s when we are in SLO so we can go to Mission Animal Hospital. He is 13 years old and we have seen numerous vets during his lifetime in Los Angeles….Mission Animal Hospital is far superior to the others. Great forward thinking doctors, and friendly office.

I love the staff at Mission Animal Hospital. The whole staff couldn't be more friendly and accommodating. I take my senior lab retriever here for laser therapy and always feel like she's in good hands with this clinic. Thank you for great service and for being friendly and showing concern when we visit, it truly goes a long way!

I’ve been taking Lula there since she was a puppy and they are the best. It’s no wonder they keep growing and expanding. Dr. Ash is so caring and compassionate and our dog loves him!

Always feel like my dog is important to treat by vets who are compassionate and skillful. Always feel it is a safe place to take my dog and get solutions to whatever problem we are dealing with. Highly recommend their services.

The disclaimer for my review is that I have only visited Mission Animal Hospital during COVID. That being said, I have never had a great experience with Mission Animal Hospital. First, they are incredibly difficult to get ahold of. I often would leave messages asking for further information or clarification which would not be returned. To further exacerbate the situation, at least a few times I received a "We tried to get ahold of you email," when I could clearly see that they never actually tried to call me. Second, in my visits to the vet I would specifically ask for advice on issues my cat was having. However, after listening to my questions the vet would give my cat a routine procedure and provide no advice or communication as to if / how they could address my questions. It is incredibly disappointing to be treated so poorly that you feel you need to get a second vet opinion in order for you to have your questions addressed. I understand that every vet in town in busy, but that is not an excuse for treating new customers like they don't matter.

Amazing vet!! Would not take my cats anywhere else. Everytime I have to take them in the staff are amazing!

Mission Animal Hospital got both my new puppy and my middle aged cat in so quickly. I called and they were able to get them in on a non emergency basis within the week. Though I can’t speak on emergency basis, I can only assume they’re as efficient. They offered a “puppy package” for my 8 week old puppy which included everything she needs for the first year vet wise at a great rate but did not make me feel pressured at all to purchase it, just presented it as my choice. As well as all treatment options I was informed and included in the choice on if I thought specific vaccinations were what I wanted when they are not life threatening. Dr. Ash is very straightforward and both my fur babies were calm and non reactive with him. I really appreciate and recommend this vet! Thank you team!

Everyone here is wonderful! Jordan was great at getting my sick 17yr old kitty in for an appointment when they were booked out for a couple weeks. It was such a relief to get her in more quickly. I’ve seen several vets and they all have taken great care in her health. I’m so thankful for them!

I have been taking my dog to Dr. Gabi for several years, and I have recommended her to my friends. She is highly skilled and compassionate, and she never rushes.

I have been taking my many cats to MAH for several years and have always had a good experience with them. They are professional, upbeat, and love animals! Extra perks are the many hours they are open and that it’s easy to park nearby (they share a huge parking lot with Trader Joe’s and Food4Less). Their communications are also efficient- if they get extra busy and you have to leave a voicemail, they are super good about returning the call quickly! They also have their own app! Good experience with texting and emailing also. ???????? Interestingly, they are SO bright and upbeat that when I have to bring in a dying or deceased pet, I didn’t feel I was in the “right place” in a way, so I’ve always taken my hospice kitties to a different vet if they are already deceased or need to be euthanized. That is just me. In all other ways, Mission has been a huge and very reliable help to us. Thank you, MAH!

We are first time pet owners. We scheduled a new patient visit, but had a concern arise before our first appointment. The staff at Mission Animal Hospital went out of their way to help us BEFORE we were even seen as a new patient. They talked us through what we thought was a great concern, directed us over the phone on how to manage the concern and did so in a manner that was not hurried, but was patient and kind. I assume some practices could have simply giggled and said, “uh yeah that’s no big deal “ (which apparently it was not). Some practices could have told us we were not an established patient, and certainly would not have returned our call. Some practices would have said they would address the issue at our upcoming appointment in a few days. That is not what Mission Hospital did. They heard the anxiety in our voice, they realized we needed guidance and they took the time to provide it. I am in awe of the genuine goodness of this facility and every staff member I have encountered. I feel very lucky to have found it. Just wow.

I just moved to the area and needed a new Vet for my dog. The staff at Mission Animal Hospital are caring and gentle with the animals, very compassionate.

I could not be happier with the care my dog received at Mission Animal Hospital. He is a rescue dog and no other vet could get near him, and I feared he would not be able to receive necessary care as the years progressed. At Mission, he felt safe and comfortable enough to have a much needed exam, without sedation. Also, the doctor called me 2 times while he was with them to go over any questions, etc. and we came up with a care plan moving forward. I even received a call the next day to check on him! I am so glad my dog finally has a doctor to look after his needs.

We were in the area from out of town and needed to get our dog some care. They were warm, caring, compassionate, and didn't recommend procedures that would do more to reduce the quality of life for our sweet boy. They were realistic and kind explaining our little guys deteriorating state. Adrian was amazing! What a treasure they have in him!
