My mom has taken her pets to here for years. They are very nice and know exactly who your pet is when you call to make an appointment. And we were just getting her deaf Chihuahua's clipped.

The doctor is completely transparent with his ideas and knowledgeable about the latest treatments. He understands and is experienced with many different animals and people.

The doc is knowledgeable and experienced. The staff is friendly and caring.

This is the clinic that takes care of my dog, Lexi. They did her spay procedure. I was nervous because of the Covid-19 protocols. Drop off and pick up curbside. Lexi didn't know any difference and behaved as normal. I figured it was a great example. At pick up the Vet came out and debriefed me on the procedure and after care.i thought that was a nice personal touch. It was unexpected but so greatly appreciated. Well done Edna Valley!

We can't say enough great things about the Edna Valley staff and Dr. Alwen! Our dog Cedar tore her ACL and after checking vets in Santa Barbara where we live, Edna Valley's prices couldn't be beat and they got her in for surgery within days and it was very comforting knowing she wouldn't need to wait weeks for surgery. After surgery they were very communicative and even when a complication came up after surgery Dr. Alwen made room in his schedule the next day for our dog, Cedar and even answered emails after hours about our concerns. We are so grateful for the awesome staff and Dr. Alwen. We will recommend them to all of our family and friends. Thanks guys! - Allie & Michael

Dr. Alwen is extremely competent in all aspects of veterinary care, from routine visits to complicated surgeries. I know that when my dog is in their care, she will receive the best care from Dr. Alwen and each of his staff. I'm always advised of the choices and risks involved in each procedure, what my dog's quality of life is expected, and an estimate of costs involved. We are truly fortunate to have this veterinary team in our local area.

We drive from Nipomo to their facility. Although I don't believe their doing it right now, we've always appreciated their mobile community outreach clinic with vaccinations! We also use the vet to board one of our ????!

Dr. Alwen performed TPLO surgery on our Labrador that was marginally successful. She was seen at UC Davis for a rehabilitation evaluation six months afterwards. They assured us the surgery was well healed, despite the advancement of her arthritis that the surgery was meant to slow. It was difficult to communicate with Dr. Alwen after the surgery regarding activity limitations and physical therapy. If possible, I would advise going to the orthopedic board certified veterinarians in Ventura. The staff was always friendly and accommodating.

I love how Edna valley employee s really care . Not just for your pet , but for us. Kudos for having a good team! I called a couple of vets and out of all of them Edna valley won my heart. If this is your first time calling make sure to speak to front desk manager Donna. Trust me ,she gives u the red carpet experience . Thank u donna, Brandy and Dr Alwen.

Everyone was very welcoming for both me and my puppy. Had well organized procedures in place for covid. Beautiful calm setting with lots of space. Fair prices.

Over charged by a lot from the original estimate they'd given day before services. Bad communication down to when to give the at home pain pills after surgery. Beautiful place tho!

Incredibly kind staff that helped my kittens hip surgury go very smoothly. They were the perfect mixture of professional and friendly. All of the staff have a genuine love for all animals and it is very apparent. This is my vet until I leave the area. 5 stars.

Offers all options. Non-judgmental. Reasonably priced. Doctor called after hours/weekends to check up on Cooper's progress (sudden symptoms of congestive heart failure; treatments are risky). Admits when not his area of expertise and promptly consults another vet (who knew there's a traveling cardio vet with various offices in California?!). If Cooper doesn't pull thru, it won't be b/c of Dr. Alwen's lack of efforts. Great, knowledgeable staff. Good humor in a difficult time.

The best Vet ever! Dr. Alwen and his staff are the most professional and caring group I have experienced as a lifetime pet owner. We would be without a dog had we not switched. Dr. Alwen diagnosed a rare condition in a day that the old vet could not figure out.

I have a really old dog. We have gone there for years. It seems as though they just want to keep my old dog alive. Her body has been through so much with all of these problems , We are in there mthly now. A bill of $400. each time With new labs and new pills each mth. I guess it Helps makes someone's house payment there. When I ask about putting her down they tell me she can last like this for a few more years.....WHAT ! OH YAEH they have a house payment to make and my dog is part of the mthly plan. So I took my dog to another vet and they told me she did not have to suffer anymore.

I have an older Jack Russell, Elvis, and as he has aged, he has gotten himself in more trouble. One of his back feet got stepped on by a horse and I thought he might lose the foot. Dr. Alwen somehow got that jigsaw puzzle back together and after a few months of recovery, his foot is usable. That is a good thing, because recently Elvis broke his front paw. If Dr. Alwen hadn't saved his back foot, I might have been faced with a tough decision. Because Elvis has 3 usable legs, all Dr. Alwen had to do was set and splint his front paw, and we just have to let it heal for a couple of months.....The staff is excellent.

I brought my cat to Edna Valley Veterinary after a terrible experience at another SLO vet with my other cat's teeth cleaning. Edna Valley Veterinary cleaned my cat's teeth, performed X-rays and extracted a tooth and had my cat back to me at the agreed time and for the agreed upon price...compared to my last experience this was such a relief! My cat is in great shape after receiving top-notch care and I will be bringing my dog there next! Thank you!

Dr. Alwen and all the staff at Edna Valley Veterinary Clinic are simply the best! All of my dogs over the past nearly 20 years have been well loved and cared for by everyone who works there. Dr. Alwen and his team have treated my dogs with incredible expertise and tender loving care. Whether it is diagnosing an illness, a potential surgery, or just a regular checkup, Dr. Alwen has always been knowledgeable and considerate and thoughtful when helping me decide the care needed at the time. He and his team were incredibly compassionate when my first two dogs were at the end of their lives as well. I have also boarded my dogs at Edna Valley Veterinary Clinic on a regular basis over the years and I have always felt confident that every member of his staff has made my pets feel loved and cared for. My dogs are always excited to see everyone there when I drop them off and that warms my heart and lets me know I am leaving them in good hands.I also really like the fact that if they ever needed medical care, Dr. Alwen is right there to help them.
