VCA Crocker Animal Hospital San Jose, California

Came here a while ago, nearly $600 for a basic x-ray and anti-inflammatory meds for 30 days. No call back. Nothing. They're purely a per profit business model towards animal owners.

Expensive and disorganized: I asked for a quote on my puppy’s suspected ear infection, I was told $85 excluding treatment but the actual bill was $160 excluding treatment medicine.They actually quoted $230 and when I asked for a breakdown I learned that they included optional ear cleaning service. The ear cleaning costs $70! On top off the high cost, the doctor said she wasn’t able to see the puppy’s ear drum because he wiggled too much and that they do not have his Rabies vaccine record (after I told them I don’t have it with me because it was not mentioned to me at the appointment time).

My dog had abrasions on her hind legs during hiking. We were worried about her and couldn't schedule a timely vet appointment so I had to make an emergency walk-in here, which costed $300 and the diagnosis was simply minor abrasion and nothing to worry about. It's a small clinic. Upon arrival, I didn't see any other cars parked there, and wondered why I could only make an emergency appointment but not a regular one. The high cost is fine with me as long as my dog is safe and sound. However, her leg was not healed after 1 month while we were keeping her at home most of the time, and worsen after playing outside. When I try to reach out to the clinic, they said they couldn't provide any suggestion from the pictures I sent over. The front desk told me that the doctor said my dog need an appointment and all they could do is to schedule a new appointment for me. I refused yesterday and made an appointment with my regular vet. Today they called me again, I said I would appreciate some advise, but again the front desk said they wouldn't be able to provide any advise and they are just checking if I still need to make an appointment. It's totally not professional and not helpful so I am posting my honest review here and I wouldn't come here if I have other choices.

In all the years going here am told I cannot get an appointment for an emergency case for at least a week. Unbelieveable since family been going there since early 70s. Never will I recommend them. Have had a great experience with Dr. Shen handling my epileptic dog Moose for years so this is a wake-up call and I am now believing the stories I have recently heard of what this place has become. Dr Look was fabulous but unfortunately left. Go anywhere else, even outside of San Jose if you have to.

The service is ok. Just found out they overcharge for medicine and all the treats. They charge me more that $30 for vetriscience bite sized chew when its $14 in petco. So disappointed. lesson learned hard.

I've been to quite a few vets, having been a pet owner for 20 years, and the vets at this hospital are some of the good ones. They explain the diagnosis to the best of their ability, always call back in a timely manner and have just been very friendly overall. My cat recently had to be put on prescription diet, and the vet explained to me why commercial diets wouldn't work based on recent research. He was very passionate about the issue and my husband, who is usually skeptical when being sold to, was in agreement after hearing the vet's explanation as to why commercial foods just wouldn't work for our cat's needs. I've had to take my pets to other hospitals during emergencies when they couldn't fit them in for the day, and we always go back to VCA Crocker.

Been part of the family for 6 years. They are all super nice & love take great care of my pet.

I recently adopted a cat, and VCA is in collaboration with PA's shelter that they give a complementary checkup for pets that are adopted. I took Sapphire here to get a checkup, and they gave me tips on how to better care for her. all the staff here were very passionate about animals, and that was so nice to see. We'll definitely be coming back here for her regularly checkups and vaccines !

We took our English Bulldog for 3 consultations and each time doctor couldn't give her right diagnosed. Just guessing to see what medication was going to work. My poor dog passed away due to negligence, lack of professionalism and of course keep charging per visit. I will never recommend this location.the older female doctor very unprofessional and acting if she cared. After taking her to a different vet in Morgan Hill and in San Carlos Dermatologist for biopsies, it was already too late. She died on my son's arms. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO CROCKER ANIMAL AT JACKSON Street in San Jose. I know my dog will never come back but it was not her time to die. I tried rescheduling appointments with different vets but because she was the vet who saw her first, we weren't allowed to switch to new vet Horrible place and bad customer service. We miss our English Bulldog it's been 2 months she passed away.

On Sept. 11, we boarded our little girl in this VCA. We hesitated on doing so, last time we had a minor issue where we picked her up and noticed she had a scratchy nose. We proceeded because the Technicians at the time acknowledged the issue and provided care and treatment. However, this time upon picking her up, we noticed the Technician that returned her was cutting off our conversation, attempting to rush us. Her Apoquil was not included in her belongings, so they went back in the office to retrieve. In the time they returned back with the Pills, we started examining her. Her chest had fresh scratches, as if she was attacked earlier in the week. We were told that was how she was dropped off, that infuriated us because they were assuming we abused her. I inquired why did they not contact us to notify us of the issue upon dropping off, and were told they assumed we knew. As if we would drop her off in that condition. When we requested to have a veterinarian examine her, they would not even speak to us. They stated they would have to charge us for the fee, after they apparently did not care for her properly. Please take this into account when boarding your loved ones here. This is not right.

Great reliable service we have been bring Jager here for 12 years

I've been taking my dog's there for three years and I took my cat ???? there the last months of his life. They were wonderful in how they handled my cat's passing, and let me sit with him until I was ready to let him go. He was 17 years old and I had raised him and his sister as bottle ???? babies from 2 day's old. They are even great with my 3 year old pitty, who thinks he has to bark to get people to pet him. Then he wants to wrap his paws around the techs and kiss ???? them. And my Australian Cattle Dog ???? Mix who was 25 lbs when I adopted her, is now over weight, they don't bug ???? me about it every time I bring her in. They know she has some issues with eating ???? everything she sees, which we are working on. And she has been on a diet, and is doing better than me. I would trust VCA Crocker with the health care of my pets over most places these days. Great team there.

Almost lost my flight because of their incompetence and lack of ability to provide a complete health certificate . Staff has no consideration for your time.

They take good care of my parents dog Fergie. (my lil sis!) Very friendly and caring.

Twice they have done this. I was verbally quoted over the phone the cost for treatment/service but when the time comes to pay, the charges are more than expected. I don't mind paying for the services but being told one price to get you to come in and then being charged more is dishonest.

Always an easy visit. Or dog is going to be 14 this year and had had all his medical needs done at VCA Jackson in San Jose. The staff is friendly knowledgeable and efficient. Only great things to say about them.

Been a client since 1985, and all my dogs have loved the vets and the vet techs there.

They have walk ins and Appointments, but I never leave under an hour, so for my busy lifestyle, it's hard to organize myself with dr visits
