Good place if you want another family member.

We could not be more pleased with our experience at Family Dog Rescue. Would give 10 stars if we could. The staff was extraordinarily knowledgeable, patient, and supportive, especially Marisa who helped us every step of the way through our adoption process. We will be recommending Family Dog Rescue to all our friends and get excited whenever we meet FDR dogs out on walks. We say we hit the dog jackpot with our sweet girl, but in reality FDR team matched us with exactly what we were hoping for, and for that we’re eternally grateful.

Staff was so friendly and, even though they were incredibly busy, they attentively helped us choose the right match for us, answered our many questions, and gave us important advice. We love our little cutie pie!

They still haven’t reimburse me for my dog to be neutered, nor do they respond to emails. It’s been over 2 months. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

So much better than the pound! They sat us down on a couch in a room and brought us a sweet, adorable puppy that matched what we said we were looking for on our application. They talked to us for a few minutes and then gave us space, checking back every 5 minutes or so. We fell in love with the first one but let them bring us another to help us be sure in our decision. I think they would have continued all day. Outside all the grown dogs are in a yard together so you can watch how they are with their friends, and see if any bond with you over the fence. The staff is awesome. They are kind, patient and knowledgeable. The space is clean and they were cautious to have us sanitize before handling the puppies because they hadnt received their final shots yet. There is parking. We went home the same day with the sweetest little girl. They gave us enough of her meds to finish her worming and kennel cough. She hated the 45 minute drive home but didnt cry. She just hid her head in my wife's armpit. Last night she settled in after some loneliness and slept most of the night. We took the rescue staffs advice (sorry I am awful with names but it started with an M) and she slept in her pen in our bedroom with us. We got up when she had a bad dream and when the sun came up. But she went back to sleep after a little time outside and some comforting. She is a puppy, and she needs attention, but she is soooo worth it. She is sleeping next to me in her bed now. I highly recommend Family Dog Rescue!

I made an online appointment to adopt a dog and could met three dogs in one appointment . Staff was super friendly and provided adequate information. When none of the dogs opened up to me, I was given an option to meet the dogs in the yard. And there I met the sweetest dog. He was shy at first but was okay taking treats from me. Thanks for bringing Duny in my life.

Very friendly staff! An awesome place to give a dog a new home! Recommend an appointment to get a timeslot, walk-ins have to wait. They do a comprehensive job to ensure new owners are qualified and you spend quality time with your new furry friend!!! Highly recommended...

Thank you for saving my new baby Great Pyrenees Luke! I even kept the name you gave him, it's perfect and so is he. Bless you for saving puppies dumped in Wasco Ca...I'm sure he and his sister are alive because of you!!!!

I wrote on my application that I have cats. It wasn't until I showed up that I was told the dogs I was interested in did not do well with cats. We drove from far away. My roommate had to take the day off of work to come with us since they require everyone in the household to be there.

The dog from the shelter had giardia and kennel cough and came home with bloody diarrhea that was not cured with the dewormer they gave. The staff vet said to contact them if the diarrhea persisted, but gave no number with which to contact them, and they didn’t respond to the emails until weeks later. Their spay and neuter appointments are also 6 months backed up.

The majority of their pets have dealt with trauma so they are very timid when you visit with them. I would recommend going to meet the dogs because you never know where you'll find your new four legged family member.

All of the dogs looked sick. The one I actually wanted to see, the woman working said she had a respiratory infection but it was in the kennel with all the other pups.

It's a great place to see what kind of dogs they have. Alot of dogs come in different shapes and sizes. Being able to find your best friend and making that connection and a strong bond. I recommend this place for anyone. Amazing. ????????????

Worth the trip. Got a tricolor blue healer. Many many dogs. Gay family friendly. And the people who work there are dedicated to their mission.

Any rescue has a massive uphill battle in front of them. The good, great prices! They want you to bring the entire family plus pets. All shots and surgeries are covered and the 250 deposit is very smart to male sure people get their pets fixed. 2 staff member & one volunteer were friendly. Unfortunately this leads into the bad, other staff and volunteers wouldn't even talk to us and go out of their way to not make eye contact. My youngest daughter said hi to a young lady and got nothing back. Just as a reminder, we are an important part of this process too. Second complaint no phone number, they do get back on email but being able to talk to someone is nice. Last and certainly not least, my pup has kennel cough. Everything else is covered except that... To me that makes it seem like this is normal. I do like this rescue wish I could give it a 3.5 but the volunteers and hopefully not staff, almost made me leave before we found our newest family member.

MAR/2018 We brought home our dog this week through this shelter. They have a number of dogs, including those with special needs. This is my second time adopting, and I have to say these guys care for their dogs really well. They didn't provide us with coupons, set up leashes, or supplies like my previous experience, but they certainly tend to the animals well, and that's what's most important! ------- Update: 15/Mar/2020 Waited nearly four hours as a walk in to Foster a dog today. I'll say after this experience that the process is a necessary evil. There are a bunch of people expecting to adopt dogs without an appointment and walk ins like us need to be willing to wait. The volunteers are patient and helpful! Original review is still true. The place offers great care for the dogs and they provide a fantastic service to the community. Tl:Dr - good place. Walk-ins be ready to spend the whole day waiting.

Was great! All the dogs seemed very well cared for and loved. Lots of people coming back with their pups for shots. And we came home with our family dog!

Really shocked to see these comments about being "well organized" in the reviews, because my experience was the exact opposite. I emailed the day before my appointment (that I had already booked 3 months earlier) to reiterate which 3 dogs I wanted to see during my appointment the following day (as some that I had originally applied for had been adopted since I applied). I received a response about 15 minutes later verifying that all of the dog foster's that I had listed had been contacted and that they would bring in those specific dogs for me to meet during my appointment at 4pm the following day. Great! I arrive for my appointment the next day at 4pm. After signing in and being told to wait, I take a seat in the waiting area. After about 5 minutes, one of the dog foster's gets there, and I meet 1 dog. I spend about 15 minutes talking to the foster, and realize that I had already been there almost 20 minutes for my 30 minute appointment - I still wanted to meet the other two pups I was interested in before making a decision. The worker/volunteer that was helping me then asks the fosters to leave the room so that I can spend 1:1 time with the pup, which was totally fine. The fosters end up leaving me in the room with the first pup, and the worker/volunteer grabbed the dog's file and we discussed the pup even more. I then mention that I'd like to quickly see the other two pups that I was there for as well, and I'm told "oh. I wish I would've known that you wanted to see other dogs before I told the foster's to go home." What? Why would you tell the fosters to just leave the dog behind when I hadn't even said I was going to adopt them? So I have to awkwardly stumble over why I still wanted to see other dogs, as I realize that this dog was basically left behind and stressed, and soon start to feel like this dog (who was great! don't get me wrong) was basically being pushed on me by the worker/volunteer. I mention that I emailed yesterday and was told that the other dogs who were also in foster were supposed to be here as well, and was told "Neither are here today. They're in foster" "I have an email saying that the fosters had been contacted so that I could meet them during this appointment?" "I didn't look at your file" "uh.. ok" Eventually I find out that neither of the other two dogs that I wanted to see were there/ever even contacted, so I ask her for a recommendation of a dog (that is actually there) for me to see before my appointment ends. She leaves for a few minutes, and I'm still in the room with the first, now-abandoned pup, trying to comfort them as they're getting even more stressed with the confusion. While still waiting, I see a dog out the window who I saw online and was also interested in meeting, and eventually the worker/volunteer comes back into the room. I point out the dog, who was a large pup. She says "I don't think you'll be able to see that dog because you need big-dog experience". "I have over 23 years of big dog experience. I've literally only ever had dogs 135lbs and up." "i didn't read your file" After this I just... gave up. I made sure the fosters had been contacted to come back and get the poor dog that had been left behind, and I just left. I only met 1 dog after 45 minutes, for a 30 minute appointment. I was misled over email that I would be able to see the dogs that I was most interested in, and I felt that one dog was basically being pushed on me. The foster parents that I met were absolutely wonderful, but the rescue workers themselves were SO insanely unorganized and unprofessional that the appointment itself was a train wreck. I waited 3 months, and was so looking forward to this appointment. I feel bad for the pups here - such an unorganized, confusing environment - making it so much harder to get them rescued than it ever needs to be. Be better for the dogs.

I didn't hate this place, was just very disappointed I showed such interest in a dog and they never responded to my multiple emails. That's very hurtful. Especially when adopting dogs out is their service.

I adopted my new pup from them. A very thorough interview, they really cared about my pup. With the fee you pay, they neuter and provide all the shots. They were very protective of their pets to go to a good fit which I appreciate.

This is our second rescue dog we've adopted. Everyone's friendly and really care about the animal's welfare. Thank you again!!

This is a very popular shelter and I can tell why, they take care of the animals very well, the staff is very well trained and informative and very kind both to the animals as well as to prospective adopters. You're required to send in an application first through their website and upon approval you'll be able to set up a scheduled appointment to meet a dog, they are very busy and appointment times are booked all the way to December but if you follow their Instagram they'll let you know if walk-ins are available for a particular day. We got lucky and were able to go during a walk-in and were able to add a new member to our family. Special shout out to Madeline who took the time to answer all of our questions and really made us feel welcomed.
