The Animal Connection San Francisco, California

They offer a great small animal boarding service. We left out two pet rats here for two weeks. When we picked them up they were clean and happy and didn't seem stressed out at all. At $12 a day it is a fantastic deal. The owner also makes awesome rat hammocks by hand. Update: another wonderful stay at Animal Connection. This place is an absolute gem. If you keep small animals this is absolutely the best pet care service in the bay. I recommend it to so many people.

I'm still not used to going to this new location yet. Location was on 31st and Judah. The shop seems overall smaller than the original location. They don't have as many free-ranged animals as they did before. The selection of food that I went to get was not as robust as before. There's just an overall decline of pets and supplies which makes sense because of the pandemic. They no longer offer the little discount cards, but instead they offer an online instant discount for members. You have to sign up for that in the store. Seems wheelchair accessible. There's parking in the front for temporary. I will say that since it's in a less busier part of the sunset now, parking is a little bit easier. Still lower prices than Petco or PetSmart. And it's one of the only places that offers me the reptile supplies I need.

Animal Connection is one of the best local, small businesses in SF. We got our leopard geckos from Animal Connection and their food supply. When one became ill, Animal Connection took them both in and nurtured them back to health. They care so much and are very dedicated and professional. Highly recommend 10/10. We love them!

They are the local pet feed store with bulk options. A happy parrot was perched on the fellow's shoulder. Monarch caterpillars on counter for sale-- plants with Virgin w child hanging ornaments, wingless fruitflies in neat vials make it an interesting and unique-to-SF experience.

Fantastic INDEPENDENT pet supply store. WE DON'T WANT TO LOSE IT TO CORPORATE CHAINS, OR, MUCH WORSE, ON-LINE STORES! Really nice owners. Supplies for exotic animals. Works with a dog-rescue organization and the organization brings dogs there periodically; check sign at store. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!

Great customer service, good selection of products, and we always enjoy seeing the menagerie of adorable dwarf hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, rats, bearded dragons, lizards and birds!

Bugs for reptiles are higher quality here. And they now have dhubias. Birds galore. Only decent feeder supply in town, (insectica & murine). Lots reptiles & small mammals for sale. March/2021: moved to Irving at 34th Ave. Didn't see the birds anymore. Not sure what happening now, till move is complete. Heath boy loves their wax worms.???????? jimmie ???? has their thawed frozen mice.

Gave it 5 stars because I love the mural on the side of the building. Of course the day I finally make a point to stop in they are moving to a new location. Looking forward to seeing the new store <3

They're always friendly and I'm always happy with my experience!

I always find the oddest little toys that I don’t see in other standard pet stores. It is always the oddest ones that really interest my cat! Seems to be one of the few that still stock go cat toys! Wish they also carried rawr cat food or just raw cat food in general so it could be a one stop shop when I go but visiting with all their wonderful birds makes it all worthwhile!

Friendly staff and great service for bird grooming services. We bring our green cheek conure here for grooming and occasionally for boarding. The rates are reasonable and we feel very comfortable leaving our feathered baby with their staff.

Staff is very helpful and gave a much appreciated discount on the supplies we needed for our adorable new leopard gecko!

Horrible customer service. the ppl working there arent very knowledgeable. The building is old, and it smells so bad inside. Unfortunately the didnt have what I was looking for,offered no waiting list for the animal I wanted and didnt even tell me when they will get more in. It was just bad over all

When I got my leopard gecko he was healthy and good looking. The produces were good and did not break down.

The shop is clean and well organized. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I plan to make this shop my go to place for my chicken feed supplies.

The owner Beya, was very knowledgeable on what items to get for my pup who had kidney disease. She was quick to respond view IG message and even offered a sample of a renal specific food block to help my doggie since he has little to no appetite.

Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. My kids love the store owner's pet duck that walks around the store. Clearly the staff loves and cares for the animals. They have a wide range of inventory.

This place is awesome. They carry everything youll ever need. The staff is amazing, friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. i will not shop elsewhere for per food, accessories and toys.

It was Sunday morning when I needed some dog foods for my dogs, and thankfully, the staffs here are very welcoming. They managed to provide me with all the things that I needed, and it was nice because the prices are just within my budget. This pet shop is a great help, and I would be honored to recommend their service to everyone I know!

Very knowledgeable, caring and courteous staff. Great source for nutritious foods and supplies for not just dogs and cats but also for other small mammals as well as fish, reptiles and amphibians. I’ve been shopping here for nearly 20 years... I love these guys!
