My dog has been here twice for two, unrelated issues. He has seen the same vet both times and she was excellent, making sure I knew all of my options and being very communicative both before and after the procedures.

Great staff, very high quality medicine which is why it is more expensive being a dental specialist than going to a general practioner. It is well worth it!

Our cat Jax was diagnosed with Stomatitis, a painful disease that affects the mouth and gums. To combat the symptoms, complete mouth extractions were recommended. Before his surgery, he already had multiple teeth removed by another Vet. So I was disappointed by the final astronomical cost. Regardless, we refused to have our cat suffer a minute longer and immediately moved forward with surgery. I'm only removing 2-stars for the exorbitant amount they charge, not to mention the uncomfortable front desk vibes and the arctic blast coming from the AC. As for Dr. Skinner, he is professional, kind, personable, and more than competent. Our cat Jax has a new lease on life and has been so happily active post-op.; giving plenty of sandpaper kisses now that he's pain-free. Thank you, Dr. Skinner. However, I feel it necessary to warn potential clients of realistic expectations in terms of pricing. Be prepared to pay top-tier surgery costs at this location if your cat requires multiple tooth extractions. Let's just say our trip to Paris cost less. Additionally, as I hinted, the receptionist's vibe was somewhat off-putting. Not to mention the air conditioning was on full blast the entire time; bring gloves and scarf. The waiting room is spacious, but the coffee selection needs improvement. If you're going to charge top dollar, elevate what you offer paying clients. Not a make or break, but this place has multiple opportunities. Overall this place could be 5-stars with talented Doctors like Skinner. However, pricing, support staff, and client services need improvement.

Management mistreats employees, current and former. Company called a former employees new employer to bad mouth them, more like practitioner of slander and defamation.

Our dog needed some extensive oral surgeries and I am very thankful for Dr Fielder, her and the team her took such good care of our boy! They make they difficult process of getting your pet through surgery so much easier and less nerve racking. Dr Fielder took the time to go over all our questions both before and after surgery, and went into detail on what preventative steps we can take to keep our dog’s oral healthy moving forward. I highly recommend this office!

This is the third time Dr. Niemiec has cleaned the teeth of our Standard Poodle. This time he needed to extract a lower canine, because the tooth was dead from a prior injury to the tooth. We trust the very knowledgeable, experienced, and competent Dt. Niemiec to take care of our beloved family member. We would not go anywhere else. Many thanks to Dr. Niemiec and his team! ❤

Poor communication ,hurried and rushed by the office staff misinformation about discounts and costs no follow through on anything they said they would do,(never got my dogs lab or ekg reports and asked 3 times) The added cost which was 2000.00 dollars over the high end of my quote while my dog was already under anesthesia 7100.00 for all teeth removal .had another dog have that was 3000.00 , had a dog hospitalized for 36 hrs and have a major abdominal surgery was less than that. No problem with the vet I liked him but will never go there again

I have used them twice for two separate dogs. Both times I have had exceptional service. Since rules with COVID are finally lifting I was able to go back in the operating room and see the X-rays and go over the final plan for the procedure. The staff and doctors are so friendly and willing to answer any and all questions.

Very helpful and attentive staff. Even during covid restrictions, they are positive and professional. Love Dr Niemiec and his associates are the best in the field of animal dental specialty and San Diego is fortunate to have thier expertise. Dr Niemiec has been invaluable in helping to surgically correct our cleft palate puppy's deformity and has been a too resource for canine dental care.

We paid $450.00 for what? Blood results were not read in a timely manner and office the manager in the Kearny Mesa Office was rude and uncaring and treated me with disrespect when I would call to follow up and find out why no one called to follow up with us. Doctor has good knowledge but too busy to follow up on a blood test after almost a week. Worst experience I have had. Very expensive and you get treated like dirt. AVOID!!!!!

We had a wonderful experience with Dr. Gibbs in Santa Barbara. It is very hard to find a dental specialist in California and I am so thankful we found this place. I called all over the state and this was the place that could get me in the fastest to do a root canal. Dr. Gibbs and Daniel were wonderful and walked us through the process. Although it was expensive it was worth it. Dr. Gibbs did an amazing job completing two root canals and correcting our dog’s enamel hypoplasia. Dr. Gibbs was so kind and you can see that she really cares about her patients and wants to give them the best care. I highly recommend bringing your pet here if you need a dental specialist. Yes, it’s expensive but you can apply for care credit and get up to 6 months no interest for a payment plan. Thank you Dr. Gibbs and team for giving Lexie exceptional care!

I have nothing but positive things to say about Veterinary Dental Specialties. They treated me and my dog extremely well. He had to get a root canal. What I appreciated the most was that there was always transparency and honesty about every aspect of the procedure and even the price of everything. To be frank, it was expensive. But I won't hold it against this place because of the level of quality of the service. I will always be recommending this place going forward because of how well my dog was taken care of and how good of a job was done throughout the process.

Price gouging. Shop around before you give this practice any money. After two visits, I've come to the solid conclusion that they are intentionally charging 4x what they should for nearly everything. A simple routine tooth cleaning on a dog: Nearly $2000. As you can see from Google, the standard price for this procedure ranges from $300 to $700, maximum. My dog had this exact procedure done elsewhere as part of another surgery and the tooth cleaning portion was only an additional $150. If you think sedation explains the remaining $1600 on this bill, you're misinformed. Their prices are offensive. We previously brought my dog here with a problem in one tooth. They claimed he needed nearly seven teeth removed. He was only four years old. The bill? Nearly $6000. As I told them, I recently paid full cash, no insurance, for a full endoscopy and colonoscopy with full anesthesia, and it cost less than they charge for this basic tooth cleaning. If $2000 for a 15 minute tooth cleaning on a dog who doesn't have dirty teeth sounds reasonable to you, I highly recommend this practice. If you have any awareness of fair pricing, I recommend shopping around first. By the way: when I asked for an explanation, these were the gems I was given: "Our Doctor really good. He's board-certified. Prices may have been cheaper in 2019. But prices go up. Your endoscopy and colonoscopy procedure might have been cheaper, but humans and dogs are different beings". Kay....

My cat needs a root canal after a car hit him and broke his fang. The regular vet could only extract the tooth, but she recommended this place if we wanted to keep the tooth. ( We do). Kudos to Ark Animal Hospital also.

Great service, the personal in the front desk is very nice and knowledgeable, the doctor knows what he is talking about and u can see he really cares about your pet. Even in covid times he takes the time to talk with u and explain to you about your pet's dental health. Price is really in the average for a specialty I guess but overall great service and experience.

Friendly staff, my Dogs teeth are really clean. Wish they didn't have to use Morphine in sedation. Bad reactions in my poor pup. Also a little on the expensive side.

This is the only place I will take my dogs to get their teeth taken care of from now on. The level of knowledge they have for dental care is vastly superior to the regular veterinarians. They use minimal anesthesia to make sure the dog has no ill effects from the procedures and treat tye dogs so well. My dog had an issue with the strong anesthesia used at a regular vet during a previous procedure and it cause heart palpitations and they ended up having to breathe for her until the drugs wore off. The Dental pros here, explained their process and made me very comfortable. She ended up having four teeth removed, a growth and an infection cleaned out. These issues were not caught at the regular vet during her recent exam. I highly recommend this location for anyone that truly loves and cares for their animals.

Drs Niemiec and Skinner are tops in this field! I have trusted them for 13 years to provide outstanding dental care to my goldens; we've pulled fractured teeth, had root canals, spacing needs for puppies so the teeth grow in properly, and puppy teeth removed when they malformed in jaw due to a bite from an older dog. Truly, they are the BEST

Dr. Niemic is amazing! He's got a lot of experience, proposed solutions and explained them completely, and did an amazing job. I'm so glad he's within driving distance because I think he's one of the only people that was able to save my dog's four canine teeth rather than pulling them. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Niemic.

If you want your dog to see a real dentist this is the place. The entire staff have the bedside manner of the best doctors hired by the best hospitals. Think Patch Adams for pets.
