This is a wonderful rescue organization! They truly care about finding the best fit for dogs and adopters! Everyone on their team that I worked with was incredibly helpful in guiding me through the adoption process!

This review is way overdue. I adopted my dog at the end of November and I am so happy I found her and the Animal Pad. From start to finish, the entire process ran like a well oiled machine! I met with the foster mom (who was so helpful and responsive as well!) and then a week later my girl was officially adopted. I really appreciated the communication with the team who helped me during the process specifically Shelby and Keren. E-mails were responded to quickly and they moved me through each step of the process so smoothly even I was surprised that I was able to bring her home so fast. I can't recommend this rescue enough. They are doing such amazing work and anybody who follows them on Instagram knows they are incredibly passionate about saving all the dogs they can. I am so glad to be part of the Animal Pad family and so grateful to them for my new family member!

I’ve been to several TAP events throughout the years and have seen this non profit grow. So proud of all the hard work everyone does.

They do great work in getting dogs adopted for their forever home. You can adopt or volunteer to foster dogs.

So many wonderful animals to choose from. If only I had some space to house one.

We adopted our sweet Missy from The Animal Pad and could not be happier. She fits in perfectly with our Schnauzer (and black lab) pack. She's well behaved, lovable, friendly and smiles ALL the time. My Grandmother desperately wanted another pup after losing hers about a year prior. The crew at TAP was extremely helpful in finding us a pup that needed a home as much as we wanted to provide a home for a pup in need.

The Animal Pad is the premiere all breed, all ages dog rescue in San Diego and Southern CA. The volunteers that run this organization are movers and shakers in business, technology, vet medicine, sales, marketing and organizational management. They give their time and skills to this wonderful rescue with all their heart and soul. I am simply in awe of the nonstop work they do, rescuing pregnant mamas & newborn puppies, to severely ill, abused and ailing dogs from the streets of Mexico. They provide full medical care, rehab and training until these beautiful dogs are ready for homes. Their fundraising efforts are legendary, and also neverending. Check out their numerous events and PR activities and you'll get a taste of how competent, caring, effective and fun this amazing organization is. I am in awe of TAP and would highly recommend this as the only place you go if looking for a dog to love foreverafter.

The people with the Animal Pad are amazing and do great work for all of these furkids. They really care about putting the furkids in the right home and seem to also have very nice foster families. Highly recommend.

I started the process of adopting a puppy from The Animal Pad about 5 months ago, after following multiple litters and dogs available for adoption I fell in love with a puppy named Shadow. I immediately applied to adopt and a few weeks later my little Chuy came home with me!! The Animal Pad made the entire process seamless and all of the volunteers are knowledgeable, friendly and profesional. Now 4 months later my puppy is getting neutered and they continue to help me through the process. I highly recommend adopting through The Animal Pad, the stories of the dogs they rescue in Mexico are not only heartwarming but it shows how much they really care. As an all volunteer organization, the work they do is extremely impressive.

This is our first time fostering and the people working/volunteering here have been great. They are clear in their requirements and procedures and provide all necessary information in a clear way. As far as we can tell from this, our first experience, they do a great job at pairing you with a suitable foster

I fell in love when I saw Seamus’s pictures! Because they are foster based the pictures show their personalities and I was able to find out more information from the foster’s experience. This allowed me to find the right pup and connection for me <3. TAP’s process was genuine, professional, thorough, and the pup’s definitely came first. It was a smooth process and I never felt rushed to adopt. They gave me the proper time to connect with Seamus and made sure I’m ready to receive and adopt him.Thank you to everyone on the team for all your hard work!

It's good that they take care of animals that are being abused and have been neglected and left behind; healing their wounds physically, mentally and emotionally.

I'd give 10 stars if I could! After experiencing countless letdowns and 'ball dropping' with every SoCal-based dog rescue organization we tried to adopt from, we discovered The Animal Pad in La Mesa. The entire process was fantastic. Staff and volunteers were friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. The facility is organized and clean, and their adoption process/follow-up is thorough. If you're in the market for a dog adoption in San Diego, we highly recommend The Animal Pad!

We were lucky enough to adopt our dog Walter through The Animal Pad! The foster who was helping our pup was so kind and helpful, and the folks doing the background checks and house checks were so thoughtful as well. These people are truly making a difference in giving these dogs better lives and I feel so lucky that I was able to get my pup through them ❤️

Adopted my pup from here recently! TAP has a very thorough vetting process for adopters to make sure it's a good fit, and are great about answering any questions you may have throughout each step!

We applied to foster in March at the beginning of the pandemic. The entire team was straightforward, responsive and paid incredible attention to detail. We had a smaller chihuahua at home and were concerned about her getting along with fosters. The team was supportive of us finding the right fit and we eventually foster failed. They’re a team of dedicated, caring people who put the needs of their dog’s above all else. The fact that they are completely foster-based speaks volumes to their commitment to getting dogs into warm, loving homes even before they’re adopted. I can’t say enough about this organization.

The Animal Pad has been great to deal with. Sure hope we will get a new member to our family from them. We lost a loved one...heart broken, we need a new cuddle bug pup to love!

We went to see one dog who had major medical issues. We knew going in about the issues and asked a number of questions to their vet team. After meeting the dog, and receiving answers from their vet team as well as doing research on our own, we decided it wasn't something we could handle. There were other dogs we were interested in seeing, but since I sent the email saying the first one was too much, we have not heard anything back. Nothing acknowledging that we couldn't take the dog we were looking at, and nothing to the other 4 emails I have sent asking to meet other dogs. I understand there are other rescues out there, and we will most definitely go those routes, but I just want everyone to know that if you want to work with this rescue, you apparently have to take what they want you to take the first time and if you don't you'll likely need to find another rescue as they will write you off immediately.

DO NOT TRUST THEM. EXTREME NEGLIGENCE! They do not give proper care to their animals and ignore very obvious health issues. Our first vet visit after adoption we found out our dog needed to see a specialist and have a $4k surgery. We contacted TAP and THEY IGNORED US and we had to contact them SEVERAL TIMES before getting a response, which was more of them trying to cover themselves and make excuses for why we were getting ignored. They told us they’re “sorry” that my “personal vet” had a different opinion than their vet... this dog is BLIND and has a cataract, indolent ulcer, luxated lens, and glaucoma. ANYONE with eyes could see this dog needed attention and TAP just passed him off as fine. His foster family also said something and TAP said he’s fine. People on the street would see him and say “oh no he has cataracts, huh?” He was VISIBLY IN PAIN and they IGNORED his health for their OWN benefit. After trying to get help from them, they promised they could have their affiliate hospital do his surgery for 1/4th the price of another quote, and then we found out that price didn’t include half of what was needed!! Initially we were only asking that they help us by sharing our dog’s fundraiser page on social media, which they also refused to do, because they want to HIDE THE FACT THAT THEY TREAT THEIR ANIMALS HORRIBLY!THEY SCAMMED US AND HURT OUR DOG. We sent them his medical records so they could get us a full estimate from their hospital, and then said they MIGHT do it, after they already said they would. They are EXTREMELY DISMISSIVE and STILL have not gotten back to us with an estimate. It has been WEEKS. In the meantime we have gone to several other hospitals and found the best care for our doggo somewhere else because that’s what he deserves. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE, they are incompetent, extremely unprofessional, and worst of all they DO NOT CARE FOR THEIR ANIMALS and ignore things that are obvious concerns. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT DOING THE RIGHT THING WHATSOEVER. I will never recommend them to anyone!!! I wish i could give negative stars!! Nobody should be allowed to treat innocent animals with such NEGLIGENCE.

I have fostered for The Animal Pad (TAP) previously and it was a fantastic experience. I had the opportunity to acclimate a female TAP dog named Honey to living with regular meal and having people around who cared about her! She was amazingly sweet! TAP as an organization is fantastic, they take in as many dogs in need as they can and do amazing things daily! I will always support this local nonprofit! ????????

I really enjoyed my experience with TAP! It’s heart warming to hear they rescue dogs from Mexico to help them live life to their full potential. The whole process was very simple and the staff as well as the foster parents were very timely with their responses to my emails or texts compared to other adoption places. I just brought my fur baby home last week and couldn’t more joyful! I highly recommend TAP!
