Coastal German Shepherd Rescue has been so amazing. I started off as a foster for a pair of pups and wound up with my best bud named George. These volunteers give so much of themselves and their time to help save lives of dogs that would be otherwise in kill “shelters” and pounds. Wonderful experience.

I just submitted an application this weekend to be able to start meeting dogs and see who I may have a good fit with. They failed to contact any of my listed references and instead sent me a condescending declined email two days later (still during the weekend) with the only explanation being that I may not be able to pay for insurance. EDIT: Yikes, I posted this review to the wrong organization. Please avoid Coastal German Shepherd Rescue!

My wife and I adopted a 10-year old GSD and couldn't be happier. We received a prompt response to our application and the screening process went smoothly. We have 3 other dogs and Marcy took care to introduce all dogs individually to ensure compatibility. We are happy to see that SCGSR tends to these seniors.

The phone number on the website it NOT accurate. That is my PERSONAL phone number and I have no idea why it is on this website. I recieve DOZENS of phonecalls from people trying to reach this organization daily. PLEASE TAKE MY PHONE NUMBER OFF THE WEBSITE.

The address provided is a false, it is a pet market store with an employee inside saying multiple people have shown up asking and wondering why the address is to them, as well as no response from multiple phone calls. I have sent an email to even see if I will get a response. Human Society even said they have not heard of this foundation. If you want a german shepherd, go to Human Society. I hope this site is not shady just to get some money donation. That would be very disappointing. AFTER POST: Ok, great, thank you for responding to this in a nice timely manner. I see now the address is for mailing only, I wish the employee there would have told me that so I would not wonder about the organization.

Disappointed. I submitted an application for adopting a dog and they never got back to me for a final answer while the dog is still available on the website. One of their comments about my application is that I work 8 hours a day and could not be a suitable 'parent'. Good luck finding a person who is home full time. I have been rescuing dogs all my life, I am also a trainer and I love dogs more than humans. Whatever you choose to do it would be nice to answer back to people with a final NO. --- Answering here after your answer. You do have my application, of course it's with a different name for privacy. I adopted a dog from Second Chance since you didn't get back to me and you were not polite. I am sure you are doing your best, but you can definitely improve since who is going to hurt here are the dogs. Best regards.

I have adopted three dogs from this organization. Yes, I have gone through significant hoops to be approved, but I can only imagine what the volunteers see on a daily basis in their work and love that they are so dedicated to the work they do and the dogs they save. I especially appreciate their determination to rescue seniors and special needs dogs. Kudos to this rescue and what they accomplish!

I began volunteering with this organization as a foster in 2013 and continue to foster and volunteer to this day because I know the heart and soul SCGSR puts into their work...from rescuing animals, to medical care, and everything in between until their dogs find the perfect forever home. They take care in all they do to make adoptions successful for their rescues as well as the families in which they place. During this time, my husband and I have been lucky enough to have adopted one SCGSR's rescues (Jasmine), who is now a proud family member, spoiled rotten and always has a big smile on her face - a long cry from her shelter photo!
