Rover's Retreat not only was an angel to our now pup, but has truly blessed our lives too! We searched for our "perfect dog" for nearly two years. We sent in application after application to various rescues, sometimes getting a response back of "thank you you're one of hundreds" and sometimes never hearing back. Then we came across Rover's Retreat. Sydney in particular was just an absolute blessing to us. Amongst hundreds of applicants, Sydney took the time to personally encourage us, tell us why we may not have been the right match for particular pups, and give us the hope to keep trying. Sydney put her heart and soul into vetting out the proper home for each individual dog, putting together a very intricate and individual puzzle. We finally found our 6 year old golden retriever from Turkey! Tank is the PERFECT dog, not because he is perfect or we are perfect, but because Sydney went above and beyond to make sure we matched together. She was completely thorough in describing Tank's preferences and aversions, his personality, and his medical history. She could not have possibly been more transparent or prepared us better. When you adopt, you take on that pup for life- the good, the bad, and the in between. Sydney made sure we were prepared for all that and more. While we had so many heartbreaks in our journey to find Tank, Sydney was our angel and finally found our forever family member. Thank you Sydney and Rover's Retreat. You saved Tank, but you really saved us.

We cannot thank Rover's Retreat enough for giving us our sweet dog Winston (formerly Patch)! The team at Rover's was professional, kind and so thorough. Their screening process was incredibly comprehensive which showed us how much they care for and love the animals they are placing into homes. Our appointment with our foster mom and Jennifer from Rover's (who are both AMAZING!), was fantastic and so well organized. Our whole family, including grandparents, were allowed to visit with the dogs and our wonderful foster mom was able to give us insight into personalities which helped us immensely. And when it was time to sign the adoption papers, the team was so professional with all necessary medical documents, micro chip information, etc. And on top of it all they sent us home with an incredible care package full of lovies, toys, treats and even flea, tick and heart worm meds. We are forever grateful to this awesome rescue for giving us our Winston and for taking such good care of him before he became ours:). Thank you Rover's!!!!

Unfortunately I have not had the best experience with Rover’s Retreat. After expressing interest in an adoptable dog there, I was contacted immediately and also was able to schedule a meet and greet. Last minute they cancelled because the dog wasn’t feeling well which is 100% understandable. In my efforts to check in with the dog, I was ignored by the foster parent multiple times and didn’t get any updates as I was genuinely worried about the dog. I was getting really anxious and honestly I understand if they would prefer to go to different owners because at the end of the day, I only want whats the best for the dog and since I haven’t met her yet, I’m sure the foster parents and those who work there know best. However, I feel as though it’s really rude to not communicate (ie ignoring calls/texts) and not reschedule after they cancelled (again, for a legitimate reason though). I don’t think I was given a fair chance to meet the dog or adopt her since they cancelled only my meet and greet apparently as they adopted her out literally the next day of her having vomiting and diarrhea. They also mentioned that they were giving her time to recover but they adopted her out literally the next day of her feeling ill? It doesn’t make sense if you’re genuinely worried about her health. Overall I think it is not professional that they didn’t inform me or reschedule to give me a proper chance and is a hassle to communicate with the individuals. I also don’t think that you would be able to find the most suitable home for her if you don’t give those scheduled meet and greets a chance to meet her. I will not be adopting from rover’s retreat unfortunately. I am very happy she has been adopted despite my feelings (even though she was literally adopted one day after my schedule meet and greet) To owners of the rescue: please feel free to contact me as I have proof of the situation.

Adopting our beautiful fur baby, Coco, from Rover’s retreat has been wonderful experience. I have known many rescues over the years and while most always have the best of intentions- none have been as well run and thorough as Rover’s retreat. My contact was Nancy, who took the time to not only read my application but also to get to to know me and the animals in my home. This was extremely important because I knew she was painstakingly trying to find the best fit, not only for us but for the dogs they rescue. I would follow their Facebook page and ask about every dog that caught my eye. ( There were many) I have a home with dogs and cats ranging in age from very young to very old. While I know that is a challenging scenario- I felt like I had partnered with someone who was committed to finding a dog that would be happy in our home. I was extremely impressed with the due diligence I witnessed- making sure I could provide not only the love but also the care needed for these deserving dogs that had already been through so much. At the end of the journey our dreams came true and were able to adopt the perfect girl for us . When adoption day arrived, I was provided the most complete records you can imagine. A full veterinary report including x-rays and treatments ( our girl had a previously broken femur), shot records, Heartworm treatment flea and tick treatments, personality traits an so on. No expense was spared to make sure our girl was in the best of health. To say that Rover’s Retreat is the best run, most committed rescue that I have ever come in contact with seems like an understatement but the customer experience was just that amazing.

We cannot recommend Rover's Retreat enough for all they do. My family and I have been fortunate enough to not only adopt an incredible golden retriever from Turkey from Rover's, but also to continue to volunteer and foster for this wonderful organization for the past couple of years. They have been nothing but professional, understanding, caring people who do everything they can to help dogs in need and find them the amazing homes they deserve. I would highly recommend this rescue. Our smiley Chloe brought nothing but happiness and love into our family and we are eternally grateful to Rover's Retreat for bringing her into our lives

Thought about using this business, but after interacting with staff and seeing other people interact with the owner, Wayne, my advice is to stay away. They will lie and try to scam you. Some real Cruella de Vil shiz going on here. They put on a show for the public, but this place is all bad. PLEASE, if you love dogs, go take your business somewhere else and help advocate against this awful place.

Rovers Retreat was perfect for our pooch! Each dog has their own run so it was well suited for our dog, who doesn't like other dogs. Clean and basic. Nothing fancy, but our dog was well taken care of and it was extremely affordable.

Rovers Retreat is a horrible rescue. They are unprofessional and unreasonable. They have threatened us. Their contract protects them and only them. Greedy, unreasonable, and selfish. In response to your response: Hi "Wayne"- are you claiming you don't scam people for a living? If so, don't be shy: drop your full name and what you do for a living. Surely this little "nonprofit" sham isn't feeding your money hungry belly.

We have been working with this rescue group for a long time. They do an excellent job in making sure that all their animals have good temperaments and are healthy before they find their forever homes. All of their animals get all required vaccinations, and are tested and treated (if needed) for heart worm disease and internal/external parasites. We have nothing to say but good things about this group.

We adopted our new furry love from Rover’s Retreat 2 weeks ago and I was and remain thoroughly impressed by this organization and its people. I’ve been recommending the organization to anyone I know who is considering getting a dog. They spent time with me on the phone answering questions and took care to place us with a dog that would be a good match for my family - but in a way that was not condescending (ie we have jobs we need to go to, don’t have experience with larger dogs and needed guidance). They set us up for success and we are wholly in love with and having fun with our new family member. Thank you Rover’s Retreat, we are forever grateful. You are performing a remarkable service and are a class act.

I've spent 15 years as a technician so I could have been a great resource for this rescue in many facets. Literally within less than 48 hours of filling out the paperwork, they asked me to take my first foster dog. They assured me this animal was not aggressive and he was a young golden retriever. I was then they almost exclusively adopt Golden Retrievers or some sort of purebred dog from Rescue because that's what the owner likes. I thought that was extremely odd. I meet them at the rescue to pick up the dog who is in fact primarily Shepherd. He's also much older, closer to about 7 years old. It was very obvious they had never even met this animal. No behavioral testing had been done, nothing. They hadn't even seen him before. I was a little bit surprised when they had never even met him but agreed to take him. Within less than 24 hours he is lunging at my dogs and me. I reported this to Nancy and also explained that his gait was very abnormal. In speaking with Nancy, who has no formal veterinary medical experience, she was very reluctant to even allow me to get X-rays done. The x-rays did show significant orthopedic issues, as I stated, and the aggression was getting worse. He was at my house about a week before he actually bit me so hard. That was my last straw. No research was done on this animal and he was eventually euthanized. It was a miserable experience to have to euthanize my first foster dog with this rescue. I have fostered probably well over 200 animals and never experienced this sort of issue. She gave me about another 48 hours before asking me to take another animal. All of this while she's asking me to go to different people's houses to take out sutures, staples, look at incisions, give meds, things like that. She's very much utilizing my technical skills and I really don't remember getting any appreciation for it. I'm doing all of this for free. The second animal had been transported up from San Diego, and Nancy was very proud to tell me they adopt animals from other countries. This one was a very happy purebred cocker spaniel which I thought was unusual to end up at a rescue. When I asked Nancy why this dog was relinquished, she had no idea. She I did not bother to look into the dog's history at all, she knew absolutely nothing about him but wanted me to take him into my home, again. This dog was very happy and very friendly, it was fun to have him in the house. But again, I instantly noticed medical problems. Within 24 hours of being at my home I started to notice this dog, his name was Bishop, would even when sleeping engage in extremely labored breathing. She told me the dog was just anxious. Labored breathing to this extent when a dog is sleeping is very abnormal. I advised Nancy and told her he minimally needs chest x-rays. They were again fighting me and I told her that if she didn't pay for it I would basically just do it myself. I work at an animal hospital and they were kind enough to offer a 30% discount on all specialty procedures to include a Cardiology consult. This was performed and Bishop was diagnosed with an extremely serious congenital heart condition. If you're considering adopting or fostering with this rescue, I would do so very cautiously. They don't seem to listen to common medical reason, they don't do any research whatsoever on any animal they adopt, and you're either going to end up fostering or becoming the owner of an aggressive animal or an animal with significant medical conditions.
