The staff is super friendly and organized, Love both of the doctors. This is our second dog going there and I recommend this practice to all my friends.

I have been bringing my two dogs to see Dr. Maiello now for a few years. The staff there is kind, responsive, and very accommodating. Dr. Maiello helped us through our dogs cancer working alongside with a oncologist, they were able to clear him of his cancer! My other dog has bad allergies and we’ve been working on getting that better which has shown major improvements. Very happy with the knowledge this clinic brings and the comfort knowing your animals are in good hands. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Lovely animal loving people and extremely knowledgeable. My dog has a rare eye problem but Dr. Maiello knew all about how to treat it. My mini-schnauzer has never been so calm in a doctor's office.

Please don't listen to the hateful, negative reviews. This is a kind, caring vet clinic. Been going here 15 years

during the height of the covid-19 pandemic, our elderly dog was not doing well and veterinary practices were backlogged and overwhelmed. They were also challenged with covid-19 protocols, staff becoming ill and having to quarantine. Ironically, when I Googled “veterinarian” an ad came up for Black Mountain Road Pet Clinic, which I figured meant they had some availability. I took Sophia to BMRPC, and immediately realized a few things: 1. They had in place protections for the staff, pet owners and the pets themselves. 2. They were so kind and professional 3. They were competent It’s nearly a 25 minute ride from our home, but despite that, we began to bring all of our dogs to receive such great care. Between dental cleanings, chronic disease management, and routine checkups, they’ve show consistency in the quality and kindness of the care they provide. Dr. Maiello (and even the temp veterinarians they employed from time to time) works so hard to address our pets needs. And they do so in a manner that doesn’t break the bank. I’ve never felt like anything was an upsell, and in fact, they practice in a conservative manner. Big thanks to everyone there, including Karen, the Lead Receptionist who is always quick to respond to requests and works to get our dogs in quickly when they have a need. They are a model for the industry.

Best Vet I've been too hands down, they take the cake. They took my baby as a walk in at 8 am when we had an appointment elsewhere and Dr called out. They treated us like family, reassured me and made me feel at ease. They treat all pets like Thier own. I'm so happy I found a vet for life!! ????????????

The staff at first was very friendly, they took my puppy inside right away once we checked in. He was well taken care the first time we were there, he was very ill so he had to be sent to the emergency hospital, he was diagnosed with Distemper, there is no cure for it and most of the time it's fatal, after few days he was getting better and I was informed to take him back to the vet to get a follow up and to see what were my options. I tried calling to get a follow up, I called 3 times, the first time I was told to see the ER vet to where at the ER I was informed to take him to the local vet and that is what I wanted to do, take him back to this vet because I was very pleased with the care at first, the second time I called I was supposed to get a call back so I could talk to the vet myself and not an assistant, never got a call back and I decided to call again, this time a "vet" if I'm not mistaking talked to me she informed me that there was nothing we could do and to just literally put my dog to sleep or let him die, she continued to inform me that there is few chances of survival but in the vet they couldn't do anything for him, that there was no need to bring him in, it was pointless. I'm very upset that people like that lady get to work with animals at all! I wish I would of written down her name. And just in case, my dog actually survived but not thanks to this vet! He got treated for the infections and pneumonia at another vet who actually cares about animals. now, he is very playful like a "normal" puppy. He has distemper of course but with the right treatment he is able to stay alive! I wish I could give this place a 0, they literally turn away animals who the believe don't have a chance.

Black Mountain Pet Hospital is like getting the VIP treatment at a 5 star hotel. This is a FAMILY owned business who treats your pets like their own. My little Nikki (teacup Yorkie) is SO nervous going to the vet but because most of the staff has been there since day one (Sara, Rob) her ears fly back as if she’s being greeted by a family member. Too many hospitals are run by corporations who’s goal is to see as many clients as possible. I love supporting my local family-owned vet hospital. I personally know the owner and have experience with a lot of animal hospitals throughout San Diego County, and the bedside manner and treatment of ur animals is amazing here at Black Mountain Pet. Give them a try!!!!

We visited the clinic to have routine check for our dog, and take vaccination. The staff were very friendly, patient to answer all our questions. They really care about the health of our dog, and took really good care of our dog in this stressful environment for it.

WORST VET IN SAN DIEGO!!!! Beware, they are nice to calm animals and NOT nice to animals who get anxiety going to the vet! They are disconnected emotionally from pets and their owners!

Our golden-doodle Mochi was having trouble pooping so we took her to Black Mountain Road Pet Clinic to get examined. After the examination they called and told us she has Parvo within 30 mins of seeing her and that she needs to be admitted to the Emergency Room. She had no symptoms of Parvo but per their diagnosis and recommendation we rushed her to VCA Emergency hospital at Hotel Circle. Our dog was at the VCA for two days being treated for Parvo per the diagnosis provided by Black Mountain Road Pet Clinic, however it was discovered that our dog did not have Parvo. VCA diagnosed Mochi with a UTI infection. We ended up paying thousands of dollars in hospital bills. We called Black Mountain Road Pet Clinic to let them know they made a wrong diagnosis and the office Manager Allie practically yelled at us saying they are not responsible for the diagnosis. As first time pet owners, we never expected to have to go through such a traumatic experience. Our poor dog had been kept in isolation and put on IV for a false diagnosis. We can’t imagine the trauma the poor pup has from the experience. If you’re thinking of considering visiting this place for your pup, think again. And read the bad reviews. They are there for a reason!

Staff members we’re not only competent in their work they were also compassionate and friendly. I take my dachshund puppy there where she is treated like a princess. The personalities of the staff members are important to me. just like my puppy I am treated with respect and dignity. The doctors are extremely informative and take the time that’s necessary to make sure all of the detailed information they give me, I fully understand. I have read some of the other posts and in regards to state and federal law I’m very happy that the staff an Black Mountian Pet Clinic follow those laws regardless of the sheer incompetency and flat out rude behavior of the public. Keep up the good work guys!

Today on 6/15/21 (the end of the mask mandate) after a year plus of serving me outside through their plexi-glass covered door/window (I didn't always wear a mask) they said I needed to wear a mask to talk to anyone through the window, and they wouldn't do it over the phone either. Steer clear of this place if you value the freedom to breathe, and common sense out of the people who are tasked with looking after your fur babies. Shameful.

Today was the first time that I brought my kitty Tara in to meet these wonderful professionals and I was very impressed with each of them and their well-run operation. They did a great job with my cat's teeth cleaning and whoever administered the anesthesia has a skilled hand, because little Tara was not nearly as whacked out as she has been after procedures at other vets, so thank you for that. I plan to return soon to get travel shots for Tara because we are close to going on a permanent vacation.

I am always able to connect with them and make appointments within 1-3 days. They are so good with my two dogs. I have a 70lb lab mix who gets rowdy when anyone goes near his ears and I have had Banfield try to charge me for extra people to hold him down for ear cleanings. Black Mtn. Road pet clinic has NEVER had an issue with this. They never said he is too rowdy or they need help holding him. In fact, they only tell me nice things about my dogs and how much they enjoy having them as patients. This is a great vet!!!! Also they don't pressure me to buy extra things and always explain the pricing to me before they do anything.

We have been taken our dog to Black Mountain Road Pet Clinic for a long time and every time we took her in, they took a really good care of her to make sure she's happy and that we are happy. They also give us advice when it is time to make a medical decision with no pressure. We can tell that they really care for our pet well-being and only want the best for their patients.

The day we got our puppy we brought her here for a check up. The staff was amazing- very personable, patient with all of our questions, and gave her so much love and attention. The doctor called us during the appointment to ask permission on giving certain tests, explained everything being done and the purpose for each, and gave us great recommendations. We were so satisfied with our visit the we purchased the vaccination package and know she's in good hands!

Black Mountain Rd. Pet Clinic is my favorite place to take all of my animals. They have new veterinarians, who are younger and full of great new ideas. I have experienced both of them. Dr. Maiello is female and Dr. Junco is male. I haven't had vets that were so kind and loving to my animals. While at the same time having great ideas to help your pet. They do not push you to do extra procedures that can be very costly. I must admit that I was almost ready to look for another vet, but I love the techs and office staff! I was so happy to not to change and meet these great new vets. I highly recommend this Black Mountain Rd Pet Clinic.

Definitely won't go back! My small dog who has a heart murmur had to have a dental, and while she was under anaesthesia they called and demanded we pay $1000 over the phone before they could proceed with the dental, even after we discussed payment prior to the procedure. They even told us the longer we waited to pay the more stress on her heart. Not to mention when everything was said and done the quote was probably half of what the actual cost was, but she was already under when they did this, and I didn't want her to be put under for nothing.

I recently had to have one of my cats put down. The employees at the clinic counselled me and were very sensitive to the situation. They arranged to have his remains taken care of. Today, I received a nice card with very nice condolences from the employees. They all made a difficult experience more tolerable.

This place is very hit and miss. One minute they are great and the next they are not. If you have an urgent issue with your pet it's very likely not a good idea to come here. After several issues with appointments and care I decided this place was not worth the money and effort. Idk if it's new ownership of the place but it's really gone downhill in terms of service.

Brought my cat here a few years ago for a dental and he died a few days later. Preface: My cat was having issues already so idk how much of what happened was due to the procedure or not. I made the appointment and was early. I ended up waiting for over an hour for the doctor to even show up to the office (did she sleep through her alarm clock?=unprofessional). She was nice. Did the initial exam and said she wasn’t sure if the dental was the right thing to do for the problem (cat sneezing blood and puffed up eye). I had taken him to vsh where they told me he needed a $2k Ct scan of his face but I had just gotten hit by a truck and couldn’t afford that due to having to pay my own medical bills. Because he had dental disease, I thought perhaps that was the cause. He needed a dental anyways because of gingivitis etc. I went ahead with it. My mistake. During the procedure the dr called and said that the dental was done and was not the cause of my cat sneezing blood. The puffed up place under his eye was still there and she suggested aspirating/opening it up to see what it was. I said yes, mistake 2-was this just to get money? Idk. There was nothing there once cut open. I got my cat back and he looked like the scarecrow stitched together (poor quality on the stitching-I’m a vet tech). He was so drunk on the pain pills that he couldn’t walk which I get. I called the office three times before I actually got someone on the phone who would help instead of just relaying back and forth and back and forth between dr and receptionist over two days. I lowered his dose like the dr office suggested but then he’d just lay down and yell. He would lay on the ground laboring for breath and i didn’t know what to do. I called them back and got no help. I’m crying even now...years later. His paws started to get cold and his gums started to turn blue. He was dying in my arms. This little buddy of mine who helped me after the first few months of being bed ridden (broken from being hit by that truck) and he helped me get through very dark times and he was now in so much pain and I couldn’t do anything to help or to preserve his life. I brought him to Dr. Boord at animal dermatology clinic, where I was just fired from not being able to work due to being hit by that truck (awkwardly saying ‘hi’ to the people who just helped ruin me as I limped by carrying my dying cat) and she helped me put my cat down. During this he fought it, he started to push away like he didn’t want to go and I am still struggling to this day about it. In fact currently sobbing. Dr. Boord said I did what I could and beyond for him but the guilt still looms. I went to the Humane Society for their pet loss group which was nice. The “maybes” creep in- maybe if I had continued to give him the pain meds, he’d feel okay enough to breathe? or maybe if I wouldn’t have done the dental at all (ended up being over 1k after everything anyways)? or or or...the end result was my cat dying and the hospital didn’t give me any portion of the money back (shouldn’t expect it but damn.). I know he would’ve still been sneezing blood (probably cancer). I had a dream about him last night. Him and my other cat reunited and hugged and played and snuggled. I woke up in tears. Now my other cat needs a dental and I’m so afraid. Idk where to take her, maybe vca?

We brought in our cat susu today for suspected ringworm we aren't sure if he has it but are leaning towards him not having it but we did get medication to treat his spots on his ears. This place is great so far and they offer 5% military discount. And our first visit was only $19.95.
