Dr. Roberto is an amazing doctor and really understands our dogs' needs. The staff are accommodating to our dog that has anxiety and allows him to be with his sister which helps him be more cooperative. Prices are also very competitive, and they've made room for us last minute multiple times which has prevented us from having to visit the emergency vet. Highly recommended to all to our family and friends with pets.

Went to this office, which is pretty far from me, to get PennHip evaluation on my miniature poodle. Very professional, easy to deal with, great communication. We'll be back for sure.

Definitely a positive experience. Dr Abrams was highly recommended by my neighbor. I have also seen Dr Rica Roberto, D.V.M. Since I was not allowed to enter the first visit due to Covid restrictions & waiting in the parking lot my adopted pet was nervous. Both that visit & the second went well. I highly recommend their caring front office staff & excellent care from the doctors.

Not sure why this vet gets such high reviews. I was referred to them when my cat started to have seizures. The doctor herself was great, she was kind and listened. They had me do all these tests, which I expected but two of which they couldn't do so they had me prepay (one was some kind of bladder test and another fecal). When I got home he had another seizure and they confirmed that all his labs looked normal. I requested to just have him put on meds as discussed and the vet agreed. They said I SHOULD go to a neurologist just to be thorough but it wasn't required. I pay the full price of the meds, only to be told that they don't have 20 of them so I have to come back to get the rest. WHY are they asking people to pay for things they don't even offer at the time of service? When I had followed up about getting his meds called in the a pharmacy they said they could. Today, I called and they said they would do it, only for them to call me back and say they won't refill the medicine until he sees a specialist and get more labs. You can't demand I pay for a specialist, especially since when I first took him to the vet she said his labs are normal, and she had no problem having him start seizure medicine that ALL ANIMALS WILL SEIZURES use to control them. He hasn't had ANY seizures on the meds, yet I HAVE to take him to a specialist in order for them to continue to do their job? I don't think so. I lost it, and I will admit that I lost my temper on them and probably used language I shouldn't have, but that's just ridiculous. Don't tell me you won't treat my pet after I had already paid you to do just that and went through the options only for you to tell me something different when I need more medication. This place is so expensive, and they only care about money. Save yourself the time. Made an appointment with a different vet and even they were confused on why they required me to see a specialist when this is something your regular vet PCP can treat. Will never recommend this place, nor go there again. Two stars only because the vet was nice at the time, otherwise it would be one. Pros: The vet I saw was nice. Cons: They make you pre-pay for services even when they are unable to do them at the time of your visit. They're expensive. They give you conditions and ultimatums in order to continue to treat your pet.

I would like to thank the staff at the Benardo Heights Veterinary Hospital in the on going care they have taken on my English Bulldog during & post operation for her left PTLO & Knee cap surgery. I am looking to have them perform the PTLO surgery on her right knee. I have made several over 200 miles round trips to have my dog examined for her knee operation and seizures. It is worth the 3 hour drive each way.

Bernardo Heights Vet Hospital is great! They are always so friendly and accommodating as much as they can. We have been taking our dog there for 7 years and even at their busiest, they do their best to see our dog on a same day appointment. I trust they will take care of my dog.

I am beyond thankful for the entire staff at Bernardo Heights Veterinary Hospital. My dog needed TPLO surgery and I'm so glad I brought him here - I was very happy about the total cost & again, everyone who helped me was an absolute joy to work with! It's been about 1 year now and he's doing great!

Since moving back to the Poway area four years ago I was looking for a veterinarian practice that fits my dog and my needs. I made the round the first year I was here, visiting about six different vets for different reasons ranging from simple vaccinations and as serious as my dog having anaphylactic shock from a bee sting, and even though they all were good, the doctors at Bernardo Heights Veterinary Hospital have been the very best and won me over. I have continued to take my dog Freddie there for all his care now. They have performed TPLO surgery on his right leg, and were so attentive and professional to all his needs. They always do a follow up call to see if your dog is doing okay for small and bigger procedures, and I always appreciate that. Every vet there is easy to communicate with regarding your pets conditions and explain all treatments very professionally. The nurses are all kind and warm and experienced in all aspects of veterinary medicine. It’s been a 100% positive experience each time I have had my boy in their office.

I've been with Bernardo Heights Vet for nearly 7 years now, since my shelter kitten came home with worms and a respiratory infection. They've never failed to get an appointment time for me and gave extremely good care for my cat. She's never really came back traumatized (compared to visiting another vet in a different town during a trip) by the doctor and techs, and they've always explained the procedures well. I have since moved much, much further from this location but I continue to take the long drive for their services. Switching to new vets is hard, but finding good ones that works with you is harder. (Also not sure if they're still doing this post-pandemic, but they used to have a Wednesday cats only sort of day, which was very thoughtful imo.)

They were very nice but the nail clip was really poor quality - left the edges ragged.

They have taken care of my dog Buddy since I adopted him about 3 years ago. Dr Anderson has done a great job getting Buddy’s seizures under control and is open to discuss treatment options. All in all a great vet hospital with a very good staff/team.

I am so happy that I switched over to Bernardo Heights! One of my dogs needed TPLO surgery and the staff and all of the doctors have been amazing . Dr Frankel performed the surgery and Belle is like a new dog on that leg. I’ve taken my other two dogs in also and we are so impressed with the staff and the doctors. Dr. Anderson really explains everything thoroughly and we couldn’t be happier.

Drove 70 miles one way to have tplo surgery on both legs of my dog here. They had everyone beat on price, service was great and surgeries were a success. My dog is running and jumping again like nothing happened. Had lots of follow up consultations with the doctor after surgery. It seemed like they really cared about my dogs well being. If it wasn't so far from my house this would be my regular vet.

I had a great experience at Bernardo Heights and really appreciated how careful they are with limiting contact during visits. This was my first vet in San Diego and would highly recommend it!

Dr Anderson is the best! He's was able to diagnose my doggo after about 5 other vets couldn't. He cares about the well-being of the dog and the family as a whole. Seriously a blessing!! I take all my dogs here as I've been seeing him for about 10 years

We have taken multiple dogs to Bernardo Heights Veterinary Hospital over a period of maybe 10 years now! It started with Annabelle, a foster who Leslie-the lead Veterinary Technician ended up adopting!!! Annabelle broke her leg playing with our resident dogs! We felt terrible. Our usual vet would not see her so my husband carried her into this great place!!! And so it began! Residents dogs and maybe 8 fosters. Emergencies, hip surgeries, dehydration visits, dentals-you name it-they are terrific and always here for us! Price compare if you like. Numbers will be close and you cannot beat the compassion, the caring, the education, the availability. For some time we did vaccines on 4 dogs at Petco. It is NOT cheaper. So I love doing all the vaccines, heartworm, flea and tick/preventative with my veterinarian. We are old fashioned-we do dog physicals every year. We like having a working relationship with Dr. Anderson and Dr. Abrams and their wonderful staff. They are always so good to us. Thank you for doing so much more than expected at every visit. We really appreciate your care and expertise.

Dr Roberto is amazing!! I took my puppy there to have her spayed and she did a great job. She wasn’t stressed, the staff was friendly and informative. My puppy was clean, happy and comfortable when I picked her up. Thank you for a great experience

I really appreciate the communication from the veterinary hospital if a pet is due for an exam or vaccination. I receive an email which lists the necessary test and the date it is due. I also receive a phone call from the staff the day following surgery to ask how my pet is doing. The veterinarian is very good at returning phone calls if I have a question or concern. It is all these details that keep me returning to Bernardo Heights Veterinary Hospital for many years.

My dog Max broke his toe, playing with our other dog. They doctors their took very good care of him. April 2, 2021, Max got neutered no issues. They are the best in my opinion. Will not, go anywhere else.

Buddy, my toy Aussie Shepherd is going on three years. BHVH has been our vet since he was an unruly puppy. I still recall one of the vets would come out early to get him, because he was raising such a ruckus in the waiting area. Dr. Andersen and the others cared for him through a broken leg when he was 6 mos. old and continue with excellent care. Everyone, including vets and staff has always been caring, professional, and attentive.

Fiona is a 12 year old Chihuahua -- she has been attended to by Bernardo Heights Veterinary Hospital since she was 4 months old! She is being treated for some chronic health conditions now in her elder years - all under the supervision of Dr. Anderson and his clinical staff. The office staff is excellent - especially during this Covid 19 outbreak; they are efficient communicators with the veterinarians and clinical staff. This is important because my pet is on several medications and at times I have missed the "please call 48 hours ahead for refillls" deadline. Fiona has never missed a dose because the staff is willing to go the extra step to make sure we receive the medications on time. Fiona has the very best veterinarian care and your pet will too. I called regarding their dental for my dog with some loose teeth. They offered to examine him free to give a firm estimate. I got in the following day and they did a thorough job. Because of COVID I couldn't be in the exam and see with him how my dogs teeth looked, but he called me and was very easy to understand, seemed very caring, answered all my questions. I was impressed.

I've been going here for the past 30 years; yes, you read this correctly! This facility is a very caring group and they have always taken care of my cats in the very best way. They are convenient to my home, but I use them because of their excellent care and compassion for me and my fur babies! I used another group once and came running back, because they really do it so much better. The analysis of health issues is above and beyond. The entire staff is exceptional and I highly recommend them.
