ABC Veterinary Hospital - Uptown San Diego, California

Lovely office and very kind and considerate personnel. My kitty was a new patient but I was able to get a same-day appointment; highly unusual in these uncertain times. Dr. Romero was very thorough and informative. His diagnosis was spot on. I was sent home with meds for my baby. Today, one day following his appt, he is already doing much better. I absolutely recommend this practice for your fur baby needs. You will not be disappointed.

Fried referral. Great neighborhood location. Then read Bio on website. Was intrigued by Juan Pablo Ramirez background. Needed a vet check appointment for my new 3month old puppies. Got in quickly. Very thorough and personable. Good suggestions. Very happy with results.

Dr. Juan Pablo Romero is the best. He takes time to make my pets comfortable and calm. He gets on the floor and interacts with my dogs. He has been both my dogs vet for over 7 years. My dogs just love coming to see him. I have referred everyone I know with a fur baby to him. I have so much confidence with Dr. Romero I don't have to question anything because I know he is doing the best for my animal. Mack Truck and Teddy D love him.

Just got back from the place in Normal Street They were extremely busy, but they still made time to help take care of my dog who was bleeding. Dr. Juan Pablo Romero was there to answer my questions and explained to me what was going on in a clear, concise manner. Great place, great service, great people. Would recommend to everyone.

Prices are kinda high compared to a different vet I used in my old neighborhood. But, in an urgent matter with my pup, one of the doctors actually came out of his own pocket to help me,even though he didn't say so. I walked the 1.5 miles home in disbelief of his altruism. That's NEVER happened for me in my experiences with the veterinary field. I've always thought it was a racket, but ABC Uptown always always always works things out with me. The quality of care with my pets is above and beyond. Unless I move, I will bring my pets here as and have already recommended them to other friends.

I’m a physician. One particular receptionist has atrocious bed side manner. Will avoid simply due to that. Medical care seemed adequate.

Jeff is the absolute best vet in all of San Diego, and beyond. He was wonderful with my cat Cleo, who was truly not feeling well when they were able to squeeze me in. Jeff had a great bedside manner with humor easing the tension and all the staff was wonderful. I can’t rave enough - our pets are our babies and they treated her as if she was their own. Thank you!

I highly recommend ABC vet on Normal street. ALL of the staff are caring and wonderful. I have seen Dr. Ohm on 2 occasions now and I am extremely satisfied with his care. He is knowledgeable, caring, gentle and truly an animal lover. This is more than a career for him. You can tell he loves his job and goes above and beyond. Your animals are in great hands when you allow ABC vet to care for them.

Both of my cats were cared for by ABC. My last cat was a rescue that came from the shelter with an undiagnosed health problem that remained pretty much a mystery until her death, but greatly resembled Crohn's disease in humans. I know this because my youngest son has Crohn's disease. She was 11 when she was adopted, and only lived with us 5 years, but she was well cared for and ABC gave great attention to her medical needs. ABC was willing to try a couple of different treatments that, in the end, gave her a little extra time; but I think her advanced age when her illness was discovered contributed to her inability to respond to treatment as she might have had she been younger. ABC cares a great deal about the pets entrusted to their care. I took my last cat to another vet briefly because that's who the humane society referred me to when I called them a week into my cat's adoption after she got horribly sick. I was not impressed with the level of care they extended to her and neither was my cat. I don't know if I will get another pet in the near future. However, I can say with great certainty that if I remain in San Diego, and if I get another pet, I will be taking him or her to ABC. I was very comfortable there, and it would seem that my cats were more at ease there than anywhere else. I highly recommend ABC.

Dr. Loken and the staff at ABC Uptown are fantastic. Due to covid I didn’t get to meet Dr. Loken face-to-face but I could tell just from our phone contact how compassionate she was. I had to change vets for geographic reasons but her staff continues to support me and my cat with claims and information. They are all professionals and really care about their patients, both two-legged and four-legged. Highly recommend.

The people at ABC Uptown have taken care of all 5 of my dogs, spanning over 20 years. I've never been disappointed with their treatment plans, pricing, or customer service. The staff genuinely care about the animals in their care and they work hard to provide the best service possible. They give guidance during complex situations without trying to oversell treatments or medications and the pricing is reasonable and fair. As long as I have dogs I'll be going to this clinic.

You can really tell all staff here care deeply about the animals. They are always so friendly and I feel safe leaving my pup in their care. As I’m on a tight budget I appreciate that they are honest about what is really needed and what can wait on the care plan so I can tailor how much I can spend on necessary treatment. My dog has several health problems and have been to both the pacific beach and uptown locations and they have both been so helpful and great experiences every time. Could not recommend them enough!

Really like the staff here. They’re amazing and responsive. My dog absolutely loves the girls here. Every experience is quick and a breeze. My dogs never nervous to leave me with a team member for all her shots so far. Really appreciate this team!

Genuinely caring veterinarians. All the staff is great, I am moving 2.5 hours away and I plan on driving 2.5 back to San Diego too the University Heights location to continue our vet appointments.

My family and I have been coming to ABC for years and we are so happy with them. We’ve seen some of the best veterinarians here. They’re always so patient with us (the humans) and our fur babies and they’re always so informative. The staff has always been friendly and personable. They make it a point to know our names and the names of our pets. This veterinary office has seen our family through many fur babies, tears of sadness when it was time for our babes to cross rainbow bridge and also in times of triumph when we’ve all worked tirelessly to get one of our babies well again. I am so thankful for this place. We’ve gotten to know the owner, Patty and her family and she holds such a high standard, I don’t know that there is any other place that I would ever trust my dogs with. Thank you, ABC for allowing us to be your clients and making us feel like family every time we call or walk through your door!

Have always taken great care of our cat.

We moved to Pacific Beach 5 years ago and looking for a good Veterinarian. We read reviews after reviews and found ABC Vet to be our best choice for our two little dogs (dachshund and a min-pin). We have a new shelter dog Jack Russell and loves the staff. The staff and doctor are so kind and they always remember our dog’s name and us. I have been bringing my 2 dogs and 3 cats here over the course of 8 years. Dr. Christensen and Dr. Z are very friendly, caring and knowledgeable. And the front desk staff is amazing and friendly, we love Charla and Peggy. Even when it was time to put my older dog down Dr. Z and Charla were very accommodating to my dog and my Husband and I at this heartbreaking time. We continue to come here and always receive the best of care!
