DO NOT GO HERE. I am moving away from this place as soon as my care club contract expires next month. I have to call them multiple times to follow up on procedures, to get clarity on next-steps, and to ask for test results that are many days overdue. Each time I am assured by the person on the call that it will get done. Then nothing gets done and I have to call again and it's a different person each time and they give fake assurances. I have been moved to tears multiple times by their rudeness and because I feel so helpless about my dogs undiagnosed condition.

Expect a 3-4 week wait time no matter when you call, even for something like an ear infection. They've taken on so many new clients that they can't accommodate their current clients who have been with them since before the pandemic. I have another vet that will take my dog in even though he's busy because he's concerned about his well being. You won't find that type of accommodation or concern at VCA. You're just another number and dollar sign.

I appreciate Dr Yick for accommodating Duke today. No words to express my gratitude to her. Thank you for taking care of my babies.

I don’t recommend this animal hospital: 1) Doctors were not able to solve my dog’s health problem during one year of treatment but charged a lot $$$ 2) Every time I have to wait about half an hour outside the clinic after my appointment time, they are never on time 3) today they tried to double-charge me for my dog’s medicine, and even didn’t apologized when I discovered that! So this place is fine only for basic things like regular vacations. But don’t expect any good treatment, and always double-check your bills!

I have been going to Holly Street Pet Hospital since 1989 and unfortunately, I am now moving to a non-VCA Vet. Just recently, they notified me that I would have to get my dog's prescriptions from them at prices that are outrageous. Case in point, VCA $3.51 PER PILL (so 10 were $35.10) vs. less than $24 for 180 pills (.13 per pill) from an online pet pharmacy in Hayward! This alone is a $607 markup for the same 90 day supply.) My dog is on 4 different medicines for het chronic conditions so the cost will increase exponentially with VCA. I hate to leave but can't afford medications at VCA Note: I just got a call back from the office manager who clarified that apparently they will continue to write paper prescriptions, they just will not do them for online or faxed prescriptions.

BUYER BEWARE: was charged $30 for “misc. professional service” first visit. assumed it was a fluke. at follow up visit for ear cleaning rinse, charged $30 AGAIN. plus $32 for an eye test test I did NOT authorize, condition is already managed by meds. check with staff on prices before services rendered. or review bill prior to paying. ...learned my $350 lesson the hard way!

My first visit: courteous staff; Dr. Cat was pleasant on our consult call -- all communication is by phone. Your pet is taken in parking lot and you can pick up meds while in car. Pay with credit card via phone. Open 7 days a week

Took my puppy in because he started sneezing a lot. I wasn’t sure if it was allergies or a cold. I asked for a nail trim and they charged me for that service. I’ve always thought it was a free service since other VCA locations I’ve been to always offered it for free. I was just surprised to see about $20 fee for a nail trim on my vet bill. I wish I had known about the cost beforehand.

VCA Holly Street is the best vet in the area, bar none. Our Miniature Schnauzer, Günter, is always at ease with the vets and they have provide great care for him.

The doc and nurse are nice... My pup had his first checkup and he felt a little scared but they were extremely patient with him and me...

I brought my dog in Saturday morning concerned about some leg weakness, appetite loss, fatigue., and unusual behavior. After a short external exam we left with a diagnosis of Osteoarthritis. Dr Cat prescribed an anti-inflammatory and glucosamene tablets. Teddy collapsed during that night and died at SAGE Emergency Hospital in RWC of a ruptured tumor on his spleen. I opted to have it removed surgically but Teddy did not make it to surgery. In my opinion the misdiagnosis on Dr Cat's part was huge, with a dire result. (SAGE saw the tumor within minutes by doing a simple Ultrasound.) At no time did DR Cat suggest doing blood work, ultrasound, or other internal investigation. We live in a technological state of the art area, I expected high level care at VCA Holly Street Animal Hospital and we did not receive it. It took the medical director 4 days to return my calls and discuss my dog's appointment, diagnosis, and ultimate death. **I had to give at least 1 star in order to write this review.

The vets are pretty darn good and fast. They are really good at communicating. The front desk however, is pretty slow... Calling kinda sucks. Sometimes, I've been given the wrong medication/amounts of medication.

OMG!!! This place is great. The vets love animals and make visits stress-free events. Our last visit was for a scratched eye on our boy cat. They did a thorough exam, confirmed a scratch and made a serum out of our cat's own blood to promote healing!!! That's some sci-fi stuff right there! Staff is patient and just a pleasure to interact with. ????????????

I have never had a bad experience at VCA Holly Street. Each person I've ever encountered there has been kind and respectful. I've had to wait from time to time, but nothing out of control. Although I appreciate each of the vets, Dr. Yick was my favorite. She was always honest, kind, sweet with my Gracie, and never tried to push services that were not truly necessary. I always appreciated that about her. The pricing at VCA is very fair. I've been to other pet hospitals in the area long ago and felt gauged big-time. I never felt that way at VCA. When it recently came time to put down my dog, I was so relieved to learn that they were open on Sunday. We were in dire times. Each person working that day was especially kind. They were ready for us when we arrived. I was taken into one of the rooms to handle the paperwork so I didn't have to do it while crying in the main lobby. They gave us all the time we needed to say our goodbyes, and offered more time to just be with her when it was done. I can't thank them enough for their expertise in what they do. When reading bad reviews about VCA, it seems like I'm reading about a completely different place. I have never even come close to having those kinds of negative experiences. Thank you, VCA Holly Street for all you did for our Gracie.

This place is very disorganized, slow, and not capable of delivering quality medical care to a dog with health problems. I have to pick up new prescriptions 4 times/year for my dog, and they are always, yes, always wrong. I usually end up going 2 and sometimes 3-4 times for the same prescriptions, which don't change and will be needed for the rest of my dog's life. Sometimes they just can't find them. Sometimes they are written on the wrong form, and Walgreens can't fill them. Sometimes they are on the right form but written for the wrong dose or duration. I have to take my dog in twice/year for a check up to make sure that her spine abnormality is still there and to make sure her trachea is still collapsed - these things don't spontaneously heal. Today I stood there for 45 minutes waiting to see if a competent vet could see her. I made an appointment several weeks ago at a time I could take them in, and they called me a couple days ago to say that the vet could not see me then and I needed to reschedule. Of course, there was almost nothing available. So, I took off work and came at dinner time on a holiday, and there was no competent vet who can write prescriptions there who could see me. They actually asked me to pay to see a vet who could not write prescriptions and then come back another day to see a different vet who could. Also, the records they keep on my various pet's visits are inaccurate, and I sometimes have to show them the documents they gave me when I was there so that they can update their own records. These are all management issues that put my poor dog's health at risk and take a lot of my time. It shouldn't be this way. I'm requesting their medical records and moving on to another pet clinic.

Had a confirmed appointment by email for my sick pet. Went to the clinic on the day of and was told it was cancelled. Wasn't given a reason why it was cancelled or who cancelled it, but I'm sure their system has an audit trial and they know. They then said they could not do anything and did not have another appointment until 4 days later. Overall seemed not to care my pet was sick. If they really cared they would of made the effort to see my pet at the appointment time.
