Squeezed in an exam an treatment immediately for our injured kitty, when other clinics, even emergency care, could not. Provided very professional and courteous service. Thanks.

I want to alert all animal lovers to never ever take your pet to this vet.Took my dog in 2 weeks ago and she was not feeling well and stopped eating. Blood work revealed elevated liver enzymes which they ignored. My dog should have been put on IV fluids, but because they “could not help her” they said nothing could be done! She died in 4 days. Took my other 2 dogs to another vet and they stated she should have been put on IV fluids. They killed my dog and I trusted them.

Dr Dominquez squeezed in my new puppy who was sick on a Monday when he was very busy. She is ok and I am grateful to have a caring vet

It’s disappointing that since the new take over, this vet clinic is no longer the sensitive and family setting. Dr Dominguez is definitely not Dr Ponder and is more interesting in scamming you into treatments that are unnecessary and that were declined over the phone. You feel you are cornered and pressured into services. Romie Lane Pet Hospital was our first experience with vet care when we moved to the area, and our confidence in both our pet’s care and services were immediately secured. Once the new ownership took place, the gradual feeling of being over charged and serviced set in.

Seems like they’re in it for money, not the care of your pet. Walk-ins aren’t accepted and good luck making an appointment for the week of. Overall they do there job after charging you $55 per examination. In this day and age you’d think a simple video consultation would be feasible. The clinic doesn’t offer much besides wellness checks and if they do find something you’ll get sent to some nearby emergency vet cause they offer little to no services in building. The staffs nice in person but over the phone they’re quick to dismiss or rush you off the line . Its just work to them, no passion :( The internet is more helpful Edit: No phone call on my part is necessary, the review says everything you need to know . Do better ????‍♂️

Hands down the best Vet. Dr. Ponder is very respectful and knowledgeable. All the ladies that work there as well are very sweet and helpful. I drive 45 mins just to get to the vet. Totally worth it.

Love Dr. Ponder and his third and fourth hand, Juan (I think? Possibly Jose?) This vet is a little expensive but you get what you pay for, right?

Good place to bring your pets. The staff is professional. However, I was was used to professional and friendly when it was under the leadership of their previous main doctor. Their prices are high and yet comparable to other veterinarians.

Romie Lane is the best vet in Salinas. Dr. Ponder is amazing (I haven't worked with the new Dr. yet) and the staff work very hard to go above and beyond with their service, they are very knowledgeable and answer my all my many questions easily. My baby Bella is so happy to go inside even without me because of Covid and she NEVER likes being without me. Thank you Romie Lane!

Dr. Ponder has treated my beloved dog who is now 13 years old. Dr. Ponder is a credit to his profession. He is professional, hard working and, most important, he CARES!! and I appreciate him so much:-))

This place needs office reform. They provide poor quality service and the staff sounds miserable to be there. Hold times are far beyond tolerable. STAY AWAY IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET.

Take your pets anywhere but here. The doctors here should be ashamed of themselves for the poor quality work they do.

My little fur grandchild has had banfield pet insurance since he was little pup. It's unfortunate that Romie Lane pet hospital does not accepted a pet insurance. The services that I have received for my fur babies at, Romie lane pet hospital in the pass has been THE BEST! The Dr. and the staff have always attended to us with their exceptionally caring ways. I had to take my services elsewhere do to the banfield insurance of my grandfur baby. I wish I could have taken him to Romie lane Pet hospital. You guys ROCK!!

My dog Jackson had been displaying anxious behaviors since I had returned to work. I contacted Romie Lane Pet Hospital to schedule him an appointment. Their front office staff informed me that I had 3 options. I could schedule him an appointment for Sunday, I could drop him off for the day and they would get to him when they had the chance, or I could bring him in between a certain time frame for a work in. I chose the work in option, and the conversation ended there. We happily waited over an hour for him to be seen (as expected). I received a call from the vet, which to my surprise wasn't Dr. Ponder. Instead it was Dr. Heart Dominguez. He asked if Jackson stayed in a Kennel because his teeth showed signs similar to those of dogs who chew on their cages. I Informed him that his cage door is never shut, and that he has free range. He stated that his teeth showed otherwise. I let him know that Jackson chews on almost everything, except for his kennel. He responded with "yes all dogs do." I continued to try and brainstorm what Jackson could have been chewing on since I knew it wasn't the kennel. Dr. Dominguez insisted that it was the kennel and moved on. I finally reminded him of the main reason we were there (anxiety concerns). He quickly answered that my dog needed to take obedience classes.... funny because if you know my dog he is one of the most obedient dogs you will ever meet. He takes command well from everyone. I tried to inform the vet of this, but he didn't seem interested. He insisted that I needed to take him to get obedience training. I wasn't sure how that would improve his anxiety and didn't receive those answers from the vet either. I ended that call extremely confused. Finally, the vet handed me back over to the front office staff where I was informed that my visit would be $135. I kindly asked for an explanation because typically my visits cost about $60. She said that it was an Emergency visit. I told her that I wasn't made aware that it was an emergency visit. She stated that in their office a work in and emergency visit are the same thing. I let her know that I was misinformed because they had never previously referred to a work in as an emergency visit. She put me on a brief hold and then came back to tell me that the knows the receptionist I had spoken to (Brittani Balza) told me that it was an emergency visit and that she made it clear of the $135 fee, which she hadn't. I asked to speak to Dr. Ponder, and that was when I learned that Dr. Ponder had sold his business to the new veterinarian. I calmly expressed my concern to Dr. Dominguez (the owner). He was quick to tell me that he believed his front office staff and that he knows they told me about the emergency fee. I was caught off guard at the fact that this business owner was calling me a liar. At this point I was so upset that I said I would pay the emergency fee and take my business elsewhere. Once I made that statement he got extremely agitated and said "don't cut me off, if you would listen then you would know that I am giving you what you want. They will only be charging you $60 for the visit." At this point I am absolutely appalled at the lack of customer service and the way I am being talked to. I told him that that I was not comfortable or happy with him and his staff and that I would still be taking my business elsewhere. He continued to state that he didn't understand why I was upset because he gave me what I wanted. I told him that what I want is decent customer service. I eventually turned on my preschool teacher mode and told him that I needed space and time to reflect on the situation and that maybe I would be able to discuss this further at a later time. He said okay and hung up on me. I called back and was hung up on two more times before being able to pay. I have never been so disappointed in a business. Not only did my dog receive sub par care, but the treatment I received was disgraceful. I didn't appreciate being called a liar, and I certainly didn't appreciate being badgered once I decided to take my business elsewhere.

This is NOT an emergency services vet; called for a consult and schedule an emergency visit and they started they are booked until Wednesday. When I asked for an alternate emergency vet their feedback was "In Monterey." This is not an opinion on their quality of service, but rather a factuallity regarding their availability.
