I have never written a review but feel the need to do so this time. I almost didn't go in today due to the bad reviews. That being said, I had the opposite experience. Went in to get our puppy his vaccine shot. I had the times wrong for the clinic and actually arrived 3 hours before it started. They helped me anyways and I was in and out within 10 minutes. The front staff was friendly and got me squared away quickly. I was happy with the service Thank you!

Avoid this place! Staff lacks urgency, empathy, and professionalism. My entire experience at the office has been an absolute nightmare. I scheduled an appointment on 11/1 at 12:00pm and was not actually helped by the front desk receptionist until 12:30pm. By the time we were called in it was 2:10pm- whats the appointment of setting up an appointment? The purpose of my visit was to have an exam on my boxer as her health was deteriorating and needed to know what medication or surgery was needed. The doc recommended X-rays to be done to further diagnose what is happening. I waited TWO weeks on someone to follow up and received NOTHING. I finally called and ask what was taking so long and they mentioned the doctor had been out of the office. I called week 3, again, the doctor was out and they assured me that the doctor would call me the next day… Still received no call. Week 4 i called fed up and request a refund. By this time my Boxers health had gotten worst and was left having to start all over again at a different hospital. This place does NOT care. Avoid them and save yourself some time.

*DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED TO GO HERE FOR ANY PET MEDICAL NEEDS* >SLOW RESPONSE >RUDE STAFF We went here for urgent care on Thursday, Sept 19 because our cat was having tapeworms and were told to collect stool sample to check for any further infections. We were also worried about our cat peeing outside the litter so they told us to have urine sample to rule out UTI. We were told they will call us back when they get the results. But, we didn't get any call back so the following week, Friday, Sept 24 I called them for follow up and I was told they'll call me back. We didn't get any so I had to wait til Monday Sept 27. Called them and got the same response. Still no call back. We called again today and was told the same thing. When I called them out that this was the third time, the staff was rude and told us to just come in to find out the results. We called them again later that day and finally got a hold of the vet. It took TWO WEEKS for them to tell us that our cat had a small infection on her bladder. Now they want us to go back for her antibiotic AFTER TWO WEEKS of collecting the sample. Definitely won't come back here.

As a Disabled Army Veteran who has been to Iraq and Afghanistan, I strongly recommend that this place be visited for routine vaccines and shots. I do not recommend to go there for anything else not even in an emergency. I could write down everything I have experienced here that justifies my poor review but I rather you read something short and Google another place. Again, do not go here for anything else other than routine shots and if your pet has a bad reaction to the routine shots then don't even go back. Good luck and I wish your pet the best of health.

HORRIBLE service! Just called to ask for an estimated pricing for my chihuahua who needs a specific kind of surgery. Lady who answered said she will need to be seen by one of their doctors first before they can provide an estimate. I then informed her that my dog was already seen by a different vet but they did not offer surgery services so they advised us to reach out a place that does. I asked if it would suffice to provide a written diagnosis from the vet that my dog was just seen by. Lady discarded my question and rudely repeated herself. If the front desk service is like this, why in the heck would I TRUST the VETS that work here too?!

Please do NOT take your pets here!! I brought my dog in yesterday (8/19) for a surgical procedure. While dropping off I witnessed a customer come in as a walk in for an emergency and was turned away stating “they don’t take walk ins” when it’s clearly stated on their front door that walk ins and emergency’s are welcome.. apparently not?? The girl up front was very rude and had no compassion, just an attitude. Then after they left proceeded to tell me “see what I have to deal with?!” The drop of time was 10am, I was told surgeries start at 1pm and she was there first so her surgery would be first. I call at 2:30 for an update. They haven’t started her surgery and have no idea when they will be starting it, mind you I drove 2 hours so I’m there just waiting in town. 4:45 rolls around and they had just finished her surgery stating I can pick her up in 1 hour. I get there at 5:45, wait for 40 minutes before I’m able to get someone to go check on her. They state “she was moving around a lot so she was bleeding a lot and they are cleaning her up and wrapping her stomach.” (How was she able/allowed to move around so much? Seems like bs to me..) I wait another 40 minutes and she finally comes out. They give me her meds with very little after care information or anything and send us on our way. The next morning I wake up to my dog bleeding heavily to where it had saturated the bandage, her bed, and was dripping. I call immediately and was told “oh sorry the vet isn’t in until noon. But you could email us come pictures for him to look at” I did not have 4 hours to wait or my dog would have lost too much blood. I ended up taking her to a local vet for evaluation. I was told that they could not find anything closing up the outside of her incision, so she received staples and was luckily ok after the bleeding was stopped. I called back once I got home to ask what was used to close her incision, the girl asked the vet came back and told me “2.0 pbs” or something, so I asked what it was, and again with her attitude said “you’re at a vet, ask them” wwoooowww. This could have been so much worse if I wasn’t able to get help. I saw no compassion from their staff, just attitude to everyone. They either need to find new staff or train them somehow. This was such a horrible experience luckily ending with a good outcome. Take your money elsewhere!

I can’t remember the doctors name but they were all so sweet to my old little granny kitty. She’s passed on but I’ll never forget the compassion they had for her. She was the sweetest kitty but also shy, and they were so gentle, respectful and mindful of that.

First off they say they open at 7 am but don't arrive til 8 am, customer service is garbage, and rarely answer the phones, and most likely you'll be put on hold price is way to expensive for their service, they didn't cut his nails while he was sedated and resulted in his nails being infected due to how they wrapped it, they have no compassion for your pet so if you care for your animal keep it far from here. Considering a lawsuit to get my $500 back, had to spend more money fixing what they did to my baby. This place is the worst vet in Sacramento hands down.

Lets talk appointments. The first appointment i set up for my new shelter cat, wasn’t on the schedule. They did schedule me for the same day but then made us sit outside for 2 hours while letting people that had appointments after us in first. Then upon his symptoms not getting any better after his initial visit. I made a follow up that was rescheduled by them for various reasons like the vat not being in at that time and emergency surgeries, twice before i had to move the visit due to being out of town the week of, and would you believe it, it was on the schedule again. When my first visit was done, the vet told us to call in to pay and get meds and treatments, i was on hold twice with the first person having no clue why i was calling and the second person, who i could literally see doing something on the computer with the phone off the hook, finally letting us in to pay and get the flea treatments we needed. This place is definitely not meant to be a vet, more like a pet ER. If you are looking for reliable service and decent care, dont look here. If you want fast, cheap, and unfulfilled needs? This is your place.

We adopted a cat a few months ago that came to the shelter with fleas and flea allergy dermatitis. He was really snotty and congested and had a chronic cough, and he was so skinny he was just skin and bone. The first time we called and set up an appointment, and called back a few days later to confirm the time and they told us that they never put his appointment in their system so we had to change it to a later date. The day of that appointment they called us and told us they had to reschedule because the vet had an emergency surgery, which honestly isn’t bad; I get it, things like that happen. When we finally brought him in we had to wait for an hour after the scheduled time for them to even take him back to check him out, and when they did all they told us was that he had fleas and they sold us some flea treatment. On the receipt paper they gave us they listed his weight as 10 lbs which is not right at all, our other cat is 10 lbs and she’s a little plump and, like I said, he was just skin and bone. So they didn’t even weight him, or seem to notice how skinny he was? Anyway we applied the flea treatment and that seemed to help a little bit but he’s still really snotty and congested, and still has coughing fits a couple times a day. So after a couple weeks of monitoring his symptoms we decided that it wasn’t just the flea allergy and he probably has something else going on. So we called back to make another appointment. The day before that appointment they called and told us we need to reschedule because the vet has a family emergency. (I guess they only have one vet working there?) So we waited a few more days. The day before the rescheduled appointment they called and told us we need to switch times with another patient because their pet needed to be seen sooner for whatever reason. The day they switched us to conflicted with other plans we had that day, so we had to call back and reschedule AGAIN. Finally today was supposed to be our appointment so we called to confirm and they told us they never even put it in the system again! Needless to say we will not be making another appointment and are switching vets. I definitely would not recommend this place if you care about the well-being of your pet, especially if you don’t want to wait weeks to even be seen.

This place is absolutly aweful. I took my dog in to get the 3 month flea and tick pill, first of all, they dont even let you inside. They just take your pet back wherever and you dont even get to see whats going on. I know covid is the reason, but ive been to other vets that arent being that unprofessional. Second, the pill didnt even work! I found another tick on my dog and the lump is signigicant and worrisome but, they didnt even care. They didnt offer to have him come back in for a free checkup to make sure nothing was infected. All they did was tell me to call the manufacturer of the pill. Finally, they were incredibly rude. I was hungup on and didnt even get a call back. Then they kept putting me on hold, everytime i asked anything i was put on hold. If someone isnt knowledgable about something then they should be immediatly handing the phone to someone who is. I have zero confidence in this place. The supervisor Sherri, told me i was yelling at her, when i was talking calmly the entire time. I was obviously irritated that no one was even interested in offering options. Instead they treated me like i was to blame because i was dissapointed with how they were dealing with the situation. I was told mixed information, treated like was of no importance, and to top it off; they can't even get me an appointment to check my dog until next week(which by the way, basically had to beg for them to give me that small courtesy). Completely unprofessional. Waste of time and money.

This is the perfect example of experiencing something for yourself before evaluating or judging. I must admit seeing some of the negative reviews I was a little bit nervous but I decided to give it a shot. My vet was completely booked and the closest emergency vet was in South Sacramento. When I called they were able to get me in so I was appreciative. They were right on time and the place was very clean. Everyone was very friendly and courteous. The doctor was very responsive and concerned so I was happy about that. And probably the best part was how inexpensive they were. I was expecting a much bigger bill so that was a very pleasant surprise. Plus the doctor wanted to recheck my dog next week at no charge. I definitely am surprised by the negative reviews but everyone has a different experience. Mine was very pleasant. I would definitely recommend.

My husband sent me to our vet office because our dog was having problems. The vet couldn’t handle a 47 pound dog that was scared and they wouldn’t let me calm her down they were over charging double of the normal prices from the last time we were there with our dog the veterinarian wouldn’t even come out he would send other people out to collect forms of payments they seem more concerned about money than the canine my husband and I will be looking for another veterinarian place .

I recently got my pet neutered here and everything was handled unprofessionally when I got there on the day of the survey and moving forward. The lady that talked to me was unprofessional, loud and rude after I politely tried to ask her about the procedure and when I can see the doctor to talk about the surgery and at home treatment. She said I can’t speak to the vet because he’s going to be in and out of surgery and I asked if he can call after and I got the same answer. Not only did I not get consulted after the treatment regarding the treatment process for my pet but they never advised that I’d have a consultation before the surgery itself to see if the surgery is even needed. They just did the surgery without advising me anything before doing the surgery. The cone that my pet has was very small after the procedure which caused him to reach the surgical site and cause bleeding, had to rush him to ER 1 in the morning due to his pain. Not only this, after I tried to contact them regarding the care for my pet I spoke to Sherri whose the manager and she was extremely rude. The behaviour was extremely childish and she was loud and not letting me explain my side of the story. Overall, the place is not conducting business professionally and cannot advice patients after their surgery. They tried to call the cops on me after I tried to approach them about my issues. The treatment is rude and childish and people are not that caring. I would not recommend this place at all, AT ALL.

OMG the worst experience ever by a vet. $800 later we can't get meds or even have our medical records, blood tests and xrays emailed to another vet. They won't answer the phone and when they do you are rushed off or put on hold for an hour. Please don't ever go here and waste your money or possibly your dog's life.

My dog was taken care of really well, and everyone was really nice. They just need to give better instructions before and after surgery; some people might not know what to do.

I contacted this place to assist me with breeding my dog and they were very helpful and answered all my questions and concerns. They are a very busy place and I give them a good rating because of the way they handled all my calls and questions. My dog was well taken care of while in their care. I will definitely recommend coming here for assistance with breeding your dog's!

I am deeply disgusted in their lack of urgency, compassion and customer service. I have been calling for 5 days trying to get refill authorization for seizure medication for my dog. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get through and the one time I did, I was promised a call back the same day letting me know the medication was authorized. I also sent in NUMEROUS requests via their website Contact Us Form and still nothing from them. It has been five days and my dog is having several seizures a day due to the NEGLIGENCE of this medical center and not authorizing the seizure medication for my dog. In the meantime, if my dog dies, I will hold Veterinary Medical Center solely responsible for her death. I will NEVER go back to this place again. I am so disappointed and distraught that they are not taking a couple of minutes to call, or email, or fax my pharmacy to authorize a medication that can save my dog's life. This is cruel, unethical and irresponsible behavior on their part. I give this place ZERO Stars for lack of urgency, empathy and customer service.

My last visit to VMC was a complete scam. I made an appointment to get my dogs shots but instead I left with him not getting his shots and a $75 bill! I was told that they weren't giving shots that day even though they specifically made me an appointment for shots, but instead they did an exam without my consent and charged me for that. When I asked what the doctor found from the exam they had nothing to record. Do not bring your animals here!

Ever since this pandemic started their quality of care has drastically gone down. My dog was supposed to get her right knee x-rayed for lameness but I was given her back with a shaved back left legged and then was told there was nothing wrong. No da, the leg that should of been x-rayed was not. It's been 3 months and she is lame still. Also, I have requested numerous of time for my dog medical records for the day to give to my dog insurance company and for 3 months they still are unable to do so because the vet wont approve of them. Was my dog even exam correctly??? When I got my dog back that day my dog was still under sedation and it took her more then 24hr to fully recover. Based on my understanding, they not supose to give you your animal back until they wake up for sedation. Furthermore the receptionist are rude and need more customer service and dog handling training.

I scheduled an appointment only to show up to a locked door and no one answering the posted phone number. I also placed a Rx refill order with 1-800-petmeds and they still haven’t approved the prescription for over a week (despite repeated phone calls). Although they charge high prices (significantly above market rates) they do not provide the expected customer service. It’s best to stay away from this Vet if you expect decent or any form of customer service.
