Will recommend this place without any reservations. We had a scare with our cat, Kissy. She stopped eating but was very hungry. We've tried all types of food - dry, wet. Nothing. She was slowly wining off on her reserve. After being able to squeeze 1 meal a day, we couldn't take in longer. The next day I started calling all vets in the area only to learn that either they weren't taking new patients (our cat was adopted not so long ago from Texas) or they were booked for at least 2-3 weeks ahead. Did extensive research online for emergency clinics in our area only to get so stressed out with the reviews. I had a feeling taking her there would mean a death sentence for our Kissy. She was fine and healthy otherwise, just not eating - which made us lose our desire to eat too. On a third day, we had been recommended to look into VCA - and I am so glad I did! We took Kissy to ER. We were very nervous because she is a sweet, shy cat who gets very nervous around strangers. Let me say, despite curbside care, which made us even more nervous, the entire team was great. We had to wait for a while before we got diagnosed, but that was a lesser torture than watching her unable to eat while being so hungry. Dr. Mary was amazing. She was very calm and patient. She answered all of our questions. Despite being an ER clinician, she didn't make us feel like we were being rushed. She didn't see anything but an upset stomach, but suggested an XRay of the tummy and a full panel of bloodwork to rule out any anomalies with Kissy. We didn't want to take any chances and went for both. Yes, I agree with other people, ER care isn't cheap, but Kissy really needed help, and we were getting desperate with worry. We would have done this for any other family member. Thankfully Kissy was fine with just an upset stomach and we ended up going home with anti-nausea meds. She wasn't traumatized at all with the whole experience, as we feared - which tells us that she was well taken care of - and is doing much better. We were pleasantly surprised by a phone call the next morning by Dr. Mary herself asking how Kissy is doing and giving us a report from the radiologist confirming her findings. That's what I call an excellent care! Thank you so much!

I’ve been taking my pets here for several years. Dr Wong and Dr Arnold have always been incredible. I unexpectedly lost my sweet rescue kitty right before Christmas 2021 and Dr Arnold and Lexi were wonderful. Thank you!

I can't say enough about how awesome Dr. New, Kevin and the entire staff were during my cat Red's treatment! After a horrible experience at Del Paso Clinic I took my cat there for testing and care and thank God I did! At the initial appointment he was given an anti nausea medicine, which helped tremendously, until he could receive a ultrasound. There were times when his new veterinary clinic wasn't able to be reached to get refills and VCA Sacramento didn't hesitate to go above and beyond to make sure Red's refills were available. Sadly my Red was diagnosed with large cell lymphoma and a tumor on his kidney. After discussion with Dr. New we determined that because of the severity of his condition and his age (15) chemotherapy would not have provided him with a good or lengthy quality of life so my son and I made the heart wrenching and humane decision to allow him to transition in peace, alleviating his suffering. In addition to being distraught about what was about to happen I didn't have the money for the euthanasia. I was completing a promissory agreement and before I finished Kevin came in the room and said all the charges were waived! He and Dr. New allowed us time to say goodbye to Red without the additional stress of financial uncertainty. After a week or so of Red's transition the staff sent me the most beautiful sympathy card. I have never experienced this level of compassion! I HIGHLY recommend VCA Sacramento to anyone needing any care of their precious animal(s). I'm not saying they'll waive any fees but I guarantee you will not disappointed with the treatment. God bless you VCA!

We brought our dog Toki in as she had become very ill. The doctor spoke with us, gave us all the information from observation and tests, and was very easy to speak with. She made things very clear. Unfortunately we had to make the hardest decision possible, but everyone was beyond kind. They understood how hard it was. This all came at a terrible time already, with our finances almost completely depleted. But they worked with us and made everything possible. I cannot thank everyone here enough. On every level they were beyond expectation and made such a sad time as easy as possible. Thank you.

My wife and I were heartbroken when we received a second opinion that our beloved pup had cancer. Dr. Parr was helpful and always answered our calls when we weren’t sure what to do. She is the most compassionate veterinarian we’ve had the pleasure to meet. We’ll miss our Marley girl forever!

This was Late December 2014. Our two dogs had gotten out of the yard in the evening, and both were hit by a vehicle on a 55 MPH road. VCA got them in as soon as we arrived and determined the extent of injuries. One dog was gravely injured, paralyzed and blind and was put down. The other suffered a fractured skull, concussion, fractured jaw, left ear nearly torn off, and her left front paw broken and was de-gloved at the wrist. They saved her, and fortunately, her personality had not changed given the brain trauma. She came home about a week later, though she would need bandage changes on her leg for the next three months. Twice a week we brought her in for bandage changes, and she was so excited, she would literally pull her leash dragging me up to the entry door and into the reception area--then paws up on the counter to greet the staff. It was a very stressful time, but the Doctors and Techs were all fabulous as were the staff at the front counter. The VCA staff might remember our dog "Olivia". The paw requires massaging still today, but she still runs, plays and swims. Thank you VCA!

I waited 4 hrs and paid $800for them to diagnos my puppy with gas. One would think that the $200 exam fee would be reduced or waved or include more than me having to repeat my concerns 5 times within the first 3 hours of being there.

I was very impressed with how efficient this clinic is. My dog had an allergic reaction to something, probably a bug bite. They took my boy back right away. Told me pricing upfront and got my baby boy Ace feeling better in under 2 hours. They kept me updated throughout the time they had him which I really appreciate. Overall a great experience and I would highly recommend.

I’ve had to go to VCA a couple of times. Once for my cat who had an eye infection and once for my beloved dog who unfortunately passed away. Dr. Ellen (I hope I got her name right) was incredible, kind, and she truly did everything she could to save our pet. She was empathetic and transparent and made the process of losing our puppy as painless as possible. They gave us a private area to hold her after she passed and say goodbye, which was so kind and needed. I’m grateful that Lily was in their hands and that her life ended in good care. Thank you to VCA.

I rescued a kitten not long ago and her left eye was infected and we thought it was missing. Took her in to get checked out and taken care of. They were very quick and polite about handling everything, they answered every question I had and I feel confident with the information they gave me and the treatment they gave Frankie. Absolutely recommend their emergency services.

We took our dog Penny for a emergency visit over the weekend. It was a long day but Dr O'Connor was our savior, she was so responsive, helpful, understanding. We don't know what we would have done without her that day. Our dog Penny is doing excellent and is being spoiled at home as usual. Highly recommended

We arrive for appointment but test was done in the car found out puppy had a parvovirus , doctor didn’t see our puppy physically but discussed treatment in the phone suggested hospitalisation $5500 in addition that we just pay $310. We ask for outpatient treatment take meds home he declined only recommendation inpatient Or nothing else. Poor quality care only $$$ don’t care about a dog so unethical. We contacted them in the morning spoke with office manager Chris regarding outpatient treatment with they clinic he says he had an emergency will call back but never did. Our dog it’s emergency also. We going to different animal hospital never again here

My puppy was having a bad allergic reaction and they got him in immediately! Absolutely wonderful staff from the first person who answers, assistants and Dr! I was anticipating a long wait and a much higher bill. They were affordable and didn’t make us wait at all! Thank you for putting us at ease and taking such good care of us! My pup is feeling much better now. Thank you so much! ????~ Rocky and his Mom Ashley

Up near Sacramento on vacation when my 1 yr old chocolate lab Rhett fell ill- vomiting, coughing labored breathing and itching. After calling 10 local vets in the area with no one accepting new patients (even for an emergency) I drove an hour to VCA Sacramento , since they were the only clinic who would see him. Upon arrival I was greeted by Allison who took intake on my pup and said he was stable enough to stay and wait in the car with me, which I thought was super nice! Dr Wong came outside and treated my baby curbside- he was so awesome and funny ???? was able to diagnose my boy with no need to admit him for unnecessary testing. I was hesitant to bring my dog here from all the poor reviews I did read and was expecting to have to pay an arm and a leg to get him better. I was pleasantly surprised by how nice all the staff was and how straight up Dr Wong was. I would highly recommend this clinic if you are in a bind like I was. Thank you everyone at VCA Sacramento!

My Dog unfortunately sniffed a foxtail into her nose. I tried to get it out to no avail. The Doctors at VCA are life savers. If not for them she would have died a horrible death. These grass seeds migrate ever forward ‘til they reach the brain & cause infection with excruciating pain. Thank you so much for saving my pup! Well worth the money.

In the past I had to bring in one of my cats here for medical treatment, the staff was helpful and professional and saved my cat. Recently, I brought a stray kitten in for some medical treatment. I cannot say enough about the staff and Dr. Wong. While this was a difficult experience, the kind words, professionalism, and understanding, went above and beyond. While we all hope that we never need to take our loved ones in for emergency care, I’m grateful knowing that they are always there to help.

Dr. Casaneda was very informative about Lunas procedure and everything involved. We knew exactly what to expect going into it and what to expect taking her home. The staff was responsive to calls before, during, and after surgery. All information about Lunas surgery and findings were shared with us so we could forward to our regular vet. We were particularly needy too so we appreciated the extra care and patience the staff took with us. The only thing that wasn't positive is that we were quoted an estimate over the phone and then the day before surgery we were given a price nearly double what we were quoted. In the end, we paid only about $600 more than we expected so it wasn't too awful. I feel like the surgical coordinator could have clarified costs better so we could have been more prepared.

Can’t be bothered to check to see what is wrong with your animals unless they are bloody and then say you should put them down. I have taken three animals here cats and a dog and they do nothing to help lessen your pets pain. Would not recommend this facility unless there is no other choice!!!!!!

But nothing! They sent me home with pain medication!! Now my cat cant walk anymore and I don’t know what to do:( so sad they only care for money!

Had to give one star because there’s no option to give zero. My little dog suffered from congestive heart failure and was on four types of medication. When he showed obvious signs of coming to the end, I was not able to get him into his veterinarian. They referred me to the VCA emergency clinic. This was two days ago and I went there with the sad intention of having my dog put down. After they looked at him, I received a call from the vet there basically saying that my dog still had pep and that I should keep my scheduled appointment with his vet. Pep? It didn’t matter that I told them he was dealing with diarrhea, vomiting, loss of appetite, huge increase in intake of water, loss of balance and sleeping way more than normal. I brought him there because I see him all the time and know that it was the best thing. Evidently, they don’t take into consideration any pertinent information that the owners provide so they did nothing but take my money. Now it’s two days later and I’m taking my dog into his vet to be put down. To the vet that saw him that day...thanks for being absolutely no help to my dog. I’m sure they do some things right but it was all wrong for a sweet little dog. Having my daughter and I go through the gamut of emotions twice in two days it’s not something I would wish on anybody UPDATE- My dog’s vet put him down today as she listened to what I said was going on and knew it was the humane thing to do. I don’t know if my dog suffered or was uncomfortable the past couple of days after this place did nothing but I definitely hope not. What they showed me is that the dollar is more important than the animal.

I think the place gives excellent service and great people working there. They handled me and my loss really, really well. I just have an issue with the policy where they take your pet and you are not allowed in while they examine. And I was concerned that last night with my pet, it was nervewracking waiting for them. I have heard more than a few stories where where the pet died while the owner sat in the waiting room. One was a personal friend. Sorry but I would be furious over that. That policy is not good the animal or the owner.

DO NOT GO HERE THIS PLACE IS A HEARTLESS SCAM. Took our ultra healthy athletic 3yo akc golden retriever here after he was throwing up for a day and not retaining water , left him for observation and they sent him home. The next day they said the only way to figure out what was wrong is a surgery ($7k) we said ok what about an ultrasound they -gaslighted that suggestion. After the surgery and 2 days “observation” at the hospital we took him home only to see him get worse still not eating or drinking we brought him and again for “observation” only to have them recommend another costly surgery ( with no diagnosis or recovery rate) or to put him down. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM WITH UNETHICAL STAFF AND THEY ONLY WANT YOUR MONEY. I cannot imagine the service they give to people who can’t afford their astronomical prices. We lost our beloved pup and still have no answers as to why there was no diagnosis OR why a perfectly healthy pup died under their care within 4 days. Save yourself the heartache, and money. After reading their reviews and Reddit I now know what I wish I knew a week ago.

Our dog wasn't eating or drinking and then he started vomiting, so, we took him to VCA , they took him in and started running blood tests, xrays and an ultrasound, the doctor said it was a blockage and needed surgery, for close to $8000, we accepted it with the condition that if when he was opened and he was in very bad condition to be put to sleep. After the surgery the doctor said he was doing very well, we took him home and after a while he started vomiting again, we took him back , got some more tests and were told that the doctor could only find out what the problem was with another surgery for another $8000+-. We feel that we were taken advantage of becuse when your pet is sick you are emmotionally weak and accept anything in order to save your beloved dog. They don't think in your pet well being, but in how much they can get from you.

Took in my cat, Jack. Had no idea what was wrong... described symptoms, left him in their care. They called me and said he's ready... They supposedly did X-rays and a thorough exam sent him home with pain medicine. The following morning we noticed a giant abscess that they obviously missed. Brought him back they simply shaved the spot and gave him antibiotics. The wound was not cleaned out, their supposed x-rays found nothing, they ran various blood tests and found nothing. All of which we paid for...and their diagnosis was simple and unrevealing. My cat is still experiencing an amount of drainage and pain, and the wound was obviously not taken care of correctly. My wife and I spent over $1,200 to come home and nurse our cat by ourselves.I would not recommend them to anyone else. I believe they were in it for the money and not for the care of animals.

Service could be a lot better. Seems as if you don’t go through them for treatment they don’t want to give other alternatives to see if symptoms get better. They are just quick to take your money. Seems it’s more about business and dollars than about caring and treating the animals.

My dog had unfortunately swallowed fox tails and the staff here were wonderful from the very start. I was a hot mess and they talked me through everything from the sedation to the possibility of further testing if needed. They were up front and honest which is so helpful in emergencies with your beloved pet. Highly recommend for saving my Rosies life today. I can’t thank you enough. Also, the prices for an ER visit are way more affordable than I thought it was going to be and they tell you the costs of everything they suggest which is such a nice courtesy so you aren’t blind sided at the end of the visit.
