I've had to visit VCA Mueller twice now, for weekend emergencies with my dogs. I'd like to note that both times the doctors and staff were friendly, knowledgeable and kind. I'm glad to know I can count on emergency services here when Covid is making access to care frequently difficult.

Pretty much pointless calling them unless you have a non emergency and are willing to wait in excess of 8 hours to have your pet seen.

Though I received extremely devastating news about my cat, Dr. liang was extremely helpful with providing the details and arrangements for the hard times that we will be having, we are great full to have such a good Dr and team working at this location.

Nothing good to share about this place. I have the upmost respect for Dr. Goldie but the staff are not friendly at all and YES I called one of their vets inept after saying our dog didn't have a limp which was total BS. It was the reason for the visit to begin with. The only thing they did right was comping a visit and x-rays after two months of lab work ($$$$) that resulted in telling us nothing. This last weekend we called Saturday night for an emergency with one of our dogs and was told it would be a 5 hour wait and to come in the next morning at 10 AM. When I called at 10am they were still trying to decide if they were going to see any animals that day. Seems things have gone downhill since they moved into their fancy building.

The staff here are beyond exceptional!! Definitely trust them with your pet’s life and you will not be disappointed. They are honest, compassionate, affordable, genuine, transparent with all costs/tests, and highly professional. The hospital is very large, absolutely beautiful, and clean! It looks like a regular people-hospital. They saved our K9 fur baby’s life. K9 Zuti is a working dog who became severely ill and would not have survived the night if it wasn’t for the interventions made by VCA Mueller’s ER treatment team. Prior to coming to this ER we took K9 Zuti to a different ER and were told that we had to pay a $6,600 deposit immediately for diagnostics or euthanize him. We decided to get a second opinion at VCA Mueller and are so glad we did! They have a very reasonable and affordable ER visit rate and they even met us outside with a stretcher. They showed extreme compassion from the first phone call we made to them. Our Zuti bonded with the staff during his 4-night stay, which was noted by his fierce tail wagging when they entered the room! They have beautiful and clean visiting rooms where you can see them anytime, day or night. We even went at 2am once; they were very accommodating and welcoming. They will love your pet just as much as you do! You will have peace of mind if you have to leave your fur baby in their care over night or for extended treatment. Thank you VCA Mueller for your professionalism and compassion that you demonstrated towards my family and K9 Zuti!!! We are forever in your debt!

I have had the unlucky circumstance to take 2 of my animals here for emergency pet care. But I was fortunate to have received some of the BEST care at VCA Mueller. I appreciate that Covid has upended very care for a lot of people and facilities, so emergency clinics have become their default care providers. My own situations were no exception as they happened during after hours or when my primary vet couldn't see my fuzzy. My first great experience with VCAM was when my dog was attacked at day care and had her throat punctured. They saw her immediately based on what we described had happened. I appreciated that they kept us in touch with the costs of exams, treatment plans and what to expect for her and for us in terms of post care. My pup came home tired and emotionally exhausted but feeling better within hours. My visit today was similar. I called with what I termed a "faumergency" because my cat is 20 years old, has kidney failure and was clearly showing signs of a weird mouth infection. Nothing life threatening, but her issue made me concerned enough to want it to be seen. A couple of other places told me they would not take her because it wasn't life threatening and that I should wait until Monday and call my vet. But VCAM said they would see her, and if I came now it would be a wait but they would see her. I hustled over there and was able to call in the parking lot and check in easily. Its great that they offer online payment and health questionnaire options because it makes it easier to handle immediately rather than wait to do paperwork. The vet called after they took her in and asked me a lot of questions to eliminate potential issues, and then went over her exam findings and her treatment plan. I really really appreciate how much time and detail she shared because it not only assuaged my fears but also gave me the confidence that I had done the right thing in bringing her in, and that while it wasn't life threatening it was critical to get her seen as soon as possible. Thank you to the staff at VCA Mueller for the great emergency care they’ve provided to our fuzzy family members.

They turned us away and my cat was dead less than 7 hours later. NOT AN EMERGENCY HOSPITAL like it says on their building. Took my 12 year old cat here at 8:15pm. Per Covid rules, pulled into the parking space and called them. Was told they were going through a shift change and try calling back in 10 minutes, as the doctor coming on wasn't sure if they were going to be accepting new patients. 7 minutes later a vet tech came out to our car with a list of other emergency places we could go, as they weren't taking any new patients. We called ever place on the list and the wait to get seen was 3 hours or more, if they could see you at all. My wife is an ER doc and we took our cat back home and she administered fluids via IV., and we tried keeping our cat alive and comfortable till our regular vet opened at 7:30am. At 2am we got up to give our cat more IV fluids and it was obvious that she had taken a turn for the worse, and so we called VCA Mueller Pet Medical Center on the phone and explained that if we couldn't get in, we were afraid that our cat wasn't going to live to see the morning. They said to come on in, pull into a space and call. So we did. We got there at 2:15am and called, and they asked us if we had an account. We said that we did not, and they proceeded to require us to provide billing information and asked us questions on whether the cat was neutered, medical history, etc. Meanwhile our cat is actively dying in the back seat. A vet tech came out to get her and she was dead 10 minutes later. There is no sense of urgency when it comes to an actual pet emergency, and I've never heard of someone being turned away from a vet when their pet is actively dying. They didn't even try.

ok care, ok prices.. but 3 month wait for appointments is frustrating, its like they only have a few a day so you HAVE to pay for an emergency fee to get a pet seen for something that is JUST routine care.

We’ve been bringing our two dogs to Mueller’s since they were puppies. Expensive but good and reliable, until now. One of our dogs had an emergency. We called and were told to come in . When we arrived, we were told no doctors were available at all and to go somewhere else. That’s the last of Mueller’s for us.

Terrible place and super predatory behavior, stay away from here if you care about your pets wellbeing.

This place is terrible. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE. They hold on to your pet for hours so that they can charge you for more time. They also don't come close to honoring the original price they quote you. They don't care at all and just want to get as much money as they can out of you.

If you want your pet seen, don’t go here! They will tell you their Dr. is busy and your pet is not important. I have an 8 week old puppy with open wounds and the lady on the phone said “go to Vista our Dr is busy. “. And don’t go to vista either, they will judge you and say you can’t afford them. None of these “24/7 pet emergency” places actually care about your pets……

Saturday night my partner and I rushed our four year old cat to VCA Mueller Pet Medical Center in Sacramento. "Ratatouille" had managed to escape our "catopia", outdoor cat enclosure that evening and went off exploring for a couple of hours. We found him hiding in the chicken coop, after suffering a severe predator attack of some sort. We knew he was in a lot of pain from his intense crying, and the visible puncture wounds. After xrays and assessments, we became aware how poor of shape he was in. Though it seemed grim, we felt our little guy was trying to hold on. The staff was amazing, (and always has been the past 8 years that we've been going there with multiple pets). Everyone from the front desk, to the techs, office staff and vets share a passion for the well being of the animals that they treat. Dr. Reget is our primary, and we were lucky enough to have him lead the care that saved Ratatouille's life this week. We didn't know what the outcome would be, but we knew from previous experiences with Dr. Reget, that our cat was in incredible hands, and therefore he really did have a fighting chance. Dr. Reget never gave up hope, nor gave us false hope, but we never doubted his efforts in attempting to help our cat pull through. It took a great deal of team work from the hospital staff including a blood transfusion, feeding tube and leg amputation. After 5 nights in critical care, Ratatouille was finally able to come home last night. He is absolutely thriving! We cannot predict what or when we may find ourselves with one of our beloved pets needing urgent care, but we are fortunate enough to know of Mueller. I've recommended this animal hospital to friends and family over the years and I couldn't imagine chancing a pet emergency anywhere else. Thank you so much Mueller and the entire Mueller team.

My puppy was dying of Parvo and I was given horrible treatment and he was treated like an object. I was waiting in the car and when I called the front desk he told me to go elsewhere if I was in a rush.

Our dog suddenly was unable to walk and we believe he had a stroke. After calling many different vets and clinics we were referred to VCA Mueller and they told us they could see our pet today. We drove from carmichael 25 minutes to this clinic. We were asked to call when we arrived which we did from the parking lot only to be told that they couldn't see us because they had only one doctor who was in an emergency surgery. They wouldn't provide us a wait time and only could refer us to yet another clinic on bradshaw, another 25 minute drive. Customer service was cold, unhelpful and very unsympathetic to our situation.

I always loved coming here to take my pets. Unfortunately, this clinic has changed alot. Everytime I call to make an appointment they are booking out over a month. Even worse, there emergency room is always at capacity per the staff, so they won't see my dogs for any acute issues. They are no longer a reliable vet clinic.

Had an emergency visit and the staff were very professional and made me feel at ease. They took care of my pet immediately even though it was 3AM. I am thankful for their help. They saved my pet. Thank you.

We have been taking our dogs to Mueller Pet Medical Center for over 16 years with no complaints until now. We brought our snickers in today and was informed the emergency hospital was not opened could not help. No empathy from the Lady at the front counter she asked us "do you have an account here"? Seriously. Mueller should work on their hospitality skills and compassion for people who walk in with sick pets. We went to VISTA VETERINARY, who helped us right away and the Staff was Kind and loving while we said goodbye to our Snickers of 16 years.

my dog got ear infection and started having symptoms at 1:00am. i called to check if i can get an appointment or walk-in for this type of symptom. i was told by receptionist to come in at 8am "as it will be cheaper and I don't need an appointment even if it's not emergency" we arrived at 8am, they made us wait 1.5 hours only to tell us they haven't seen my dog yet and by 10:30am the bill was $300. i paid the invoice but they didn't give me a breakdown of the charges. i had a bad feeling about the charges and had to email them for a copy and sure enough, we were charged $122 for "emergency consult" i called to question this and the receptionist now says it's cheaper charged at 9am and not 8am!!! If I had known this, I could’ve arrived at 10:30am and not be charged $122 for something that is “not an emergency”. it is such a SHADY AND INCONSISTENT information. i can not help but feel taken advantaged of.

This Vet actually cares. My dog Snow had closed pyometra and needed the immediate surgery. Even though everything went smoothly she passed away 5 days later most likely due to a blood clot. The surgery was not cheap but VCA Mueller understands what it's like to have a huge financial burden without your pet being there with you and did everything possible to help us out. I can't thank them enough for the 5 extra days we got to spend with our fur baby. ❤️

They definitely have the state of the art equipment but they overcharge. I spent $1000 for my cat to feel better and they did not even follow up and call the next day. We need another option in Sacramento.

Dog ate something that had the potential to cause intestinal blockage. After she vomited and no sign of the item, I brought her in and I requested they induce vomiting to try to prevent that possibility. They just held her for hours and hours and saw other dogs until the wee hours of the night. I finally just took my dog home since they never got around to seeing her. Just keeping my fingers crossed she will be ok and watching her for the next 24 hours.

I have a pitbull who is aggressive towards strangers. It's always been difficult to bring her to the vet, especially now with masks. The staff was very good with her. She had pyometra surgery in November and then needed her leg amputated in January due to a massive tumor. Both surgeries went amazing. The cost of the amputation came out way less than quoted too which was a relief. She is 11 years old and has adapted quickly to missing a front leg. Thanks everyone at VCA

Felica and Carolyn seem to do what they want without supervisors around after hours. They said there is no one else to speak to. I called to request 3 lasix tabs for my Chihuahua with CHF until the morning refill at Costco. I was told that i needed to wait 24-48 hrs for a response by Carolyn or I could come for an emergency visit. I called later and Felicia told me she was overwhelmed with emergencies and was too busy to fill my 3 lasix tabs to get him through the night. She said she would have them ready in the morning. In the last year staff have been pretty good about extending a couple of tabs costing me the sum of a Costco refill but worth it. I started coming here when my Brown Chihuahua developed CHF and close to euthanizing but they pulled him through. They gave him a year and he is still with us. I only come here because they are a 24hr hospital but with staff like this i will have to find another hospital when I get a new puppy even if i have to drive to the next town. During this Covid pandemic it's totaly unnecessary to be this way to a pet customer. This behavior shows they don't care!

I brought my dog here. He was ok but panting. They kept him for two days and i appreciate the tests, but they quoted me $509 dollars and when I went to pick him up (for home hospice care) it was $1850. They told me he had a week, a month. Well I had to wait nearly two hours to pay and pick him up. When I finally got him, he was still panting. I took him home and he died at 10pm and he suffered. THere was no where to take him. If a dog is in a bad way when you discharge him, at least give some meds, like tranquilizers or something! to help him pass without suffering. I hate these people. There was no reason for this. There was no reason for my dog to suffer like that. THey are incompetent and cruel.

This place is a total rip off. The veterinary staff here are salesmen of the worst kind praying on people’s emotional vulnerability. This animal hospital charges 169 dollars to cremate a 25lb dog and then can’t put the dog in an Urn for you. These people are in this solely for the money, no compassion, heartless greed.

He had to bring our cat Schoochums because of an emergency. Couldn’t believe how fast they admitted her. They were so kind and Dr Charn had the best bedside (telephone) manner. It’s been a long time since we have Had such good service by a veterinarian. We were so happy with his kindness and informative conversation about her. Plus he did not seem to try to sell me more than she needed. She is going to be released to us soon but we were so impressed that I had to give them a thumbs up and also the young woman that dealt with us in person!! Thank you so much Mueller’s.
