Not only can you not get your dog in for an emergency (you'll be told you can come in about for months) but they are rude about it. I'm not one to take offense easily, but they are curt. I wouldn't mind so much if we didn't live in Ridgecrest, where there are only a couple options. At least be understanding of people's situation and see how it is stressful when you're one of the only businesses that provide this service in like an hours radius. Also they will tell you that they'll call you back on a certain day to give you information, and they definitely won't, you'll have to bug them multiple times. If this business wants to reply to this comment, don't bother. Spend your time working on making your business better please, I don't need a fake apology.

My Buddy passed away June 25th . Crestwood refused to see him until August. Canyon said July. I called Palmdale Animal hospital . I lost him next day in their hospital. Crestwood has let me down. I have been going there for years. I wasn't one of their special patients..the care club. My Buddy is gone. He was only 5 years old.

TL/DR: This is a business clinic, a money hunting vet corporation and nothing more. They'll send you home with a "new customer" to go bag so you think your getting the 5 star treatment but then come off as snarky when you call in asking to schedule an urgent check in or request recommendations/guidance when you tell them you cant wait 2+ months to see the vet... I get it -- we are ALL busy out here. Bottom line, I agree with the other 1/2 star reviews here for VCA. There was a complete lack of care or empathy over the phone. I called in regarding newborn kittens I had rescued that needed urgent care (severe eye infection). VCA was apparently booked for the next 2+ months -- which is fine -- but were very rude when I asked a follow up question. Did they have any other places they recommended for care? Yeah. google apparently. I received a very sarcastic response of "no... you can try google?" Uh, ok. I did and got yawl as the first pop up so, thanks! The woman was just plane rude and impatient from the start. I could almost hear her eyes roll back into her head at my inquiry. I ended up calling Canyon vet clinic in Ridgcrest and they told me i could walk in same day, and let me tell you -- they were BUSY when i got there! So, NO -- I don't want none of VCA's rude, "we're booked out.." guff. What I think: I recommend reaching out to Canyon vet in Ridgcrest if you can. They are local and a very kind, generous team. They genuinely wanted to help and let me come in the same day when i called. I was expecting to pay their walk-in fee as discussed over the phone, which was no biggie.. money wasn't a concern at this point. I just wanted the kittens to make it! They ended up charging me next to nothing for the care the newborn kittens received and honestly went above and beyond what I could have hoped for. The Vet doc came into the exam room after making time for the kittens and WHAM, BAM.. done in ten! Good2Go. That's what you look for in a good business, and good people.

I'm sorry they just aren't reliable. It's so sad that we have illness concerns for our pets and cannot get treatment till months later. We now have to go out of town in order to get appointments. I don't want to wait months if the illness ends up being serious. However, if you pay for there premium wellness plans you will receive UNLIMITED exams and as stated can "visit whenever you’re concerned about your pet’s health". I don't think I should pay a premium just to be seen! Appears those with plans are getting priority over us. This vet is for those who are weathy enough and clearly they want to make a profit off you. This company clear doesn't support low income. I already pay for insurance and whatever isn't covered. I will add they are hard to get a hold of. Phones are always busy.

My 6yo found a bat in our backyard. It was acting strangely & we brought it in. As the day went on, I started to become concerned about it's behavior. I called & spoke to Sincere. She refused to give me any information about the animal. I became more & more agitated by her lack of helpful information on the sick animal or what steps we could even take to make sure my 6yo & pets would be safe as rabies is a real concern. I was worried about my child & upset. She was hostile & sarcastic. Eventually she relented & supposedly asked a supervisor. I was told to call Animal Control. This turned out to be misleading information. Animal Control was shocked they & informed me they should have instructed me to contact Public Health. After speaking with the right people, I called back to let VCA know, as I believed she made an honest mistake. I spoke with Jennifer this time. She was curt & completely blew me off. I'm blown away by the sheer lack of consideration & tact one expects from a professional in a position to care for others & their pets.

They have taken care of all my pets, my sister's, plus the rest of my family. Very friendly service and very passionate for fur babies of all kinds. A little pricey but worth it and they will work with insurance and payment plans.

I was here one time, in June 1996, with an employee from Victor Medical also from here in Bakersfield, CA., U.S.A.. We arrived here from #1 9th Street Edwards Air Force Base, and the nearby Shopette/Payette. While there in Ridgecrest at this particular business, there was an attendantive tomcat there named RATCHET, a calm natured black and white tomcat. I remember him well. Glad to know this place is still there, a useful place, and, maybe someday, it shall be expanded, then and there.

We had to put our dog Selma down today. They were there for us when our local veterinarians wouldn't make the time. Drove an hour to get there. My husband said they were compassionate and friendly. Highly recommend! Worth the trip. Thank you for making her final moments peaceful. RIP Selma

Their appointment management is horrible. Made an appointment for a wellness check and waited a month. When I come in they confused my appointment for the wrong pet and wrong appointment and then they said now I have to wait another 2 months.

Working super slowly. If you will not confirm the appointment you will loose it. They don't have here anything to take care of your pets

Staff is always very friendly and helpful! Very kind & gentle with my pets. They take time to do everything they can to take care of any problems my pets have had. Used to avoid going here because of hearing their prices were really expensive....but have found the costs of their services similar to other vets I’ve used! Decided I really love these vets and their staff! Highly recommended!!

Called for emergency visit. I was told they can get me in 2 days. Don't think that would be considered an emergency visit.

Took my dog to get vaccinated and it took less than 10 minutes for the entire process. They even called following up to make sure my dog tolerated the vaccines. Staff was very friendly and approachable. Will take my dog here again in the future.

Despite pandemic restrictions on entry, good communication by phone, text, and with techs at car. We are trying their care plan with monthly payments this first year for our Puppy Corgi. Nuetering, shots, many labs & some medicine are included. Looks like a good deal for us! Thanks Dr Decker.

Tried to get my dog scene by a "local" vet. One they were rude, second no empathy for my concern. Didn't answer the calls nor messages left. I was wise and took my dog to Lancaster and got fantastic service, great same day service and True concern over my dogs health issue. Poor service, poor turn around and not worth staying in town to get help. It's worth your time to drive a hour and a half to get the service your beloved pet needs.

Charges way too much and give poor quality care. They charged me $550 to tell me my cat had ring worm on his leg, which it what had said I thought he had when I brought him in. They told my friend his cat had sprained his leg and it would get better in a couple of weeks. Fast forward 2 weeks the cats leg had swelled to over twice the size. The cat had an abscess not a sprained leg. They misdiagnosed this poor cat and almost killed him.

Although it was roadside service due to Covid19, I felt like my cat was safe and in good hands having to leave him overnight. I give them a 5 star rating
