The doctor seems to have good instincts about the animals. I come in thinking one thing and he has a hunch it's something else (and he's right). IDEX blood testing is done onsite with results in minutes, although very expensive. Actual appointment cost is very reasonable. They have decent appointment availability. If you can't find street parking, use the lot for the bank.

They charge Extra $60 for any clinic visit, including food prescription approval. My cat is totally fine but still need to pay $60 for approval. I decided to switch.

Very unpleasant and unwelcoming experience for a new or potential client. I've had pets my entire life and not once did I have to prepay for services that was until I called Richmond veterinary hospital today . The unpleasant person on the phone stated that a prepayment was needed for a visit and expected me to give her my credit card number over the phone. Who does that in 2021?! If I'm not trusted to receive services without prepayment how do you expect me to trust you a person sight unseen with my credit card information? Also, I was not allowed to come make the payment in person. That seems very scammy to want a person's credit card number over the phone but they can't come and give you the payment since you need a prepayment so badly to provide services. This all was a shame because in the past my grandmother received great service from that hospital but I guess that was before they had to go into scammy business practices.

Nice and friendly staff. The doc seemed helpful and was really friendly as well. Knocked a star off since the front desk seems a bit scattered with the administrative stuff

I dont want to write this but I need to. Richmond Vet, the Dr and the staff are above extraordinary, compassionate, caring. No words could ever truly describe how I feel about them. From day one when DOG came to the office they loved him. They always took care of him, he was an old guy. They would talk to him and give him love. He was never hesitant to go with anyone and was always well behaved with them. And on the last day, they were nothing less than to him. They made arrangements for me and him that unfortunate day. I could actually see emotion from the staff that day. Thank you for making that day a loving, caring and compassionate atmosphere, all of you!

I've been going there since moving to the East Bay. All my furr babies, including fosters have been well cared for. A shout out to Stephanie she's always the best! ????

I had problem concerning available room for my cat who was at the point of death. I was very upset because my cat was so so sick. It would be a wonderful thing if the hospital had a separate emergency station for unique medical situationss.

The care was fine, but it was expensive. It was 766 to clean out a wound and take some dead tissue out. I dont that constitutes surgery for a fee of 200. I think it would of been the same price as the emergency vet.

I took my dog there for semi- emergency care. He had a foxtail embedded in his paw. The communication with the doctor is extremely poor. I was in tears when I dropped my dog off in the morning of surgery last week. I pleaded to meet the doctor (I have NEVER met him). I am new to the area. I was told, due to Covid- he would not meet me. The California mask law was lifted prior to my request, and I would wear a mask anyway. The doctor still NEVER took the time or compassion to come outside to meet with me, despite multiple requests. One staff person was personable and also compassionate. After $800 of surgery, when I called to speak with the doctor about how my dog had done. One of the first things the doctor told me was that if he didn’t get the entire foxtail out, he would have to do another surgery. Needless to say, this was not reassuring at all. I never had a wellness follow up call the next day or EVER. I am taking my dog to another vet for a follow up wellness check the first of this week. This vet didn’t even have me schedule for a follow up post op appointment. I would not take my pet there again, and after I meet with the new vet, I may file a claim with the State Attorney Generals Office for some type of malpractice. I feel abused, ripped off and like my dog went through pain and suffering and I still don’t have a clear understanding of his treatment or his recovery. Also, the language barrier is difficult to understand as well. Ask to meet the doctor before you proceed here- your request will speak volumes about your level of care.

Very friendly and helpful staff. We have 3 cats and take them all in at one time together. Right now you can't go in with your pets due to covid restrictions. Their prices are very fair and they consult you before doing any treatment. They do not try to push unnecessary treatment or make you pay extra for un-needed services. I Highly recommend RVH, only drawback is that they do not have after hours emergency services at their site.

Take my 2 cats there for routine and urgent care. Very kind and caring staff. We were given very clear & detailed written explanation of treatment cost (both high and low $ range) before recent surgery to extract broken & infected teeth that required anesthesia. Only one vet there though, and only open Monday through Friday.

I took my puppy here for her immunity shots. The doctor explained everything clearly and thoroughly. They are responsive to QA calls during business hours. I will get my puppy chipped and spayed here after her third shot next month.
