Galena Veterinary Hospital Reno, California

They called 1.5 hours prior to my appointment saying they didn't have a current exam on my dog. Appt made the week prior. Did NOT offer to schedule an exam for my dog and literally hung up on me. "She" did not like that I was questioning her professionalism, or lack there of. BYE BYE GALENA VET HOSPITAL!! Zero Stars!!

Front desk was insanely rude. I called ahead of time to make sure my dogs were up to date on all of their vaccines so that we can board then somewhere in town before we fly out to another state for the weekend. The women at the desk looks them up and says they're up to date and we're all set for boarding them anywhere. Later I find out that most boarding places in the area require dogs to have boardatella every 6 month. I'm from the east coast, that's not something I would know. So now I'm scrambling looking for a place to board. I called Galena back to ask why they told me I was good to board and two different people told me that they KNOW that places in the area require 6 months, but they didn't think it was important to mention that when I called in advanced to double check to see if the dogs had what they needed to board. They were incredibly rude during this interaction instead of even attempting to help us find a facility last minute to accommodate. I believe it was Marci who said, "Well I don't know what to tell you, most placed are booked by now" I don't know how this place has good reviews when the people who answer the phone are incredibly rude and have no customer service skills.

Words can’t even describe how disappointed I am with this vet. I went to this vet based off of all its amazing reviews.. Last week I took my dog in because he was having issues walking on one of his front paws. They got him in that day, checked him out, did some X-rays and told us nothing came up on the X-ray. Dr. Graham told us she thought he had sprained it or hurt it. She said it could be an infection but it was highly unlikely, to bring him back if nothing changed. She prescribed anti inflammatories and a pain medication. After we picked him up from the vet his leg was huge and had two lumps in it. Over the next few days he got worse, he refused to walk, he stopped eating, going to the bathroom etc. We called them back to get him checked out and they told us they couldn’t get him in that we had to take him to the dog emergency. Yesterday we took him to the dog emergency and found out in fact his leg was an infection. He had a fever, was extremely dehydrated and his kidney and white blood cells were concerning. They told us he could go septic. We agreed to keep him overnight, give him fluids and they tried to get rid of the infection. Not even 30 minutes later we got a phone call that my dog had passed away. Thanks to this misdiagnoses I no longer have a dog.

Been using this place for years, just found out that they were unable to diagnose congenital liver failure in my dog in those 3 years despite the NUMEROUS blood tests they took and did, new vet found it on the first trip in.. Dont bring your animals here if you care about them, because I promise you this place doesn't care about them or you.

First impression was quite good. Spoke with "Marci" and per her request, submitted all documentation about our new best friend, "Bix," (a now 12-week old sheltie) I found from out of state. After emailing (and confirming) records had been received, my follow-up requests for an initial appointment have been ignored. How could anyone possibly disregard this little guy's need for the best of care? Now looking elsewhere. Very disappointed.

They treat my dogs right. One even gets excited going there!

We have been taking our pets to Dr. Ford for 20+ years. He, and everyone at GVH have always been amazing, from helping us welcome a new pet into our family to making the difficult final decisions and everything in between. Recently, we needed to get our cat in sooner than Dr. Ford’s schedule allowed and so we scheduled the appointment with Dr. Rock who was also fantastic. She diagnosed a dental problem and thoroughly explained what needed to be done. The staff got us scheduled and put us on the cancelation list in case something opened up sooner. We were very pleased when they called later that week to let us know they had an opening the following week with Dr. Graham. Dr. Graham took great care of our little girl. She called us as soon as she finished to let us know that everything went well. When we picked her up, Dr. Graham came out to the car (COVID restrictions) to go over everything in person and took time to answer our questions. The entire GVH team is wonderful, and we highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality care for their furry family members.

Dr Ford is very caring, but realistic when it comes to your pets care, and I really appreciate that. The staff is very nice and super knowledgeable. I've been taking my dogs there since I moved to Reno 8 years ago and would not take them anywhere else. I highly recommend!

1st time visiting this vet! And even during this time of hardship they made me feel welcomed. I couldn't go inside, due to the restrictions of the quarantine, but they kept in contact with me throughout the visit, one call from the Dr. herself. They were all very nice, my dog loved them, and they weren't too expensive. I scheduled here because the other vet I scheduled at canceled our appt due to the quarantine. So glad they did, because I was able to find this great place instead. We will be sticking around.

The vets and the entire staff at Galena have been super great every single visit or call we've had with them! They are very nice, knowledgeable, and most importantly you can tell they genuinely care about animals. I can't say enough great things about Galena Veterinary Hospital and happy I chose them to care for my fluff boys.

After our last vet had bad staff and long booking times it was refreshing to have such a wonderful experience. The staff was streamlined and helpful, doctor Graham was also very kind and seemed quite knowledgeable. We will definitely be switching. Thank you for getting Dexter in quickly so he can be boarded last minute!

Love Dr Graham she 8s fantastic with our dogs. Even when time to say goodbye she is thoughtfull and compassionate. It's a good place for your pets.

This is the only vet office I have ever felt comfortable leaving my dog at. Dr. Rock is amazing at what she does. I brought my dog in for a case of heartworms and although I was a total mess watching my fur baby go through treatments, Dr. Rock did everything she could to make the experience as smooth and comfortable as possible. 10/10 would recommend ????

This place has been very good to me an my animals. They have very friendly staff and a knowledgeable team. They truly care about your animals as well and have made every visit a good one. We had Dr. Rock, and she's very polite and sweet with the animals in her care. I am a nitpicky person, and I have yet found a reason to dislike this place.
