Unreliable - unprofessional service. We made in advance annual appointment for check up and vaccinations. We checked in the dog at 7:30 am. They said they will call us back for pick up. At 3 pm they called and said that “the dog is not cooperating”. We offered to come and make that way him more comfortable. Clinic representative said they will let us know if they need. Then 5:40 pm still no call. We call them, and been informed that we will have to reschedule. We said that we cannot reschedule as we planned this time to be enough for boarding him to hotel while we will be going on vacation. We asked to try to proceed today since he was already at their facility for 10 hours. The answer was no. We asked to be able to talk to Dr. Baker, the answer was she is proceeding surgery. Unfortunately I don’t believe it, because lights were dark already and they asked us to pick up our dog from back door. (Not sure why). I asked for report of the visit and what was done all day but they did not provided to me anything. They said I will get it in email. I also was told doctor will call me after she finish surgery. Sadly we have to look an emergency place to get our dog vaccinated. I could choose another place on time if I would knew this would happen. Highly not recommending this place.

I will start that the revolving door of changing doctors at Damonte Ranch Veterinary are knowledgeable and competent. But as the saying goes, doctors do not make great business owners and this is no exception. Dropped my dog off prior to 8 a.m. and recieved no updates throughout the day. At 530p.m., I opted to pick her up, with her not being examined all day. I understand my dogs ear infection was not critical, but all day for a quick checkup & script? Seems questionable. I throw caution to those who choose to use this vet. If your a person that relys on some sort of a schedule, this may not be the place for you.

Great staff and good care for my pupppy

I dropped off my dog at 8 AM for a routine check-up, expecting to get him back within an hour or 2 hours tops. 8 hours later he still hadn't been seen by the doctor at all! This is a horrible way for a dog who is already skiddish at the vet to have to spend their day. I will not be returning and I recommend others seek out different alternatives.

Dr. Baker is amazing. She truly cares about your pet. I had an emergency with my 12 year old Pekingese and she helped me every step of the way. She answered all of my questions after hours and provided guidance even when she was on vacation. She provides frequent updates on the status of your pet, using an app that has the pet talk and tell u what is going on. It is so cute and comforting. She is extremely knowledgeable and I can’t begin to thank her enough for helping save my little Sadie’s life. She treats your pet as if it were her own and leaves you feeling very confident in her care. I highly recommend Dr. Baker!!!

We were referred to Dr. Baker through friends, and our dog was a patient from the week we brought her home from the shelter. Dr. Baker and staff went above and beyond letting my husband and I know how our dog was while there. We have since moved away and wish we could find a vet as fabulous.

Dr. Baker has been our vet since 2014 when we moved to the area. I have always been impressed with her care for our dogs, especially Cappuccino, our senior dog. It wasn't unusual to receive a phone call over a holiday weekend to say she'd been thinking about Cappuccino and had a recommendation for her care. We attribute Cappy's almost 18 year long life to Dr. Baker. When the time came to send Cappy over the Rainbow Bridge, Dr. Baker, Casey, and all the staff at Damonte Ranch Animal Hospital were responsive, caring, and kind. I always recommend her practice to anyone that asks me. I really believe she genuinely cares. She's a great vet ❤

We started going to Dr. Shelby when the hospital opened and have since traveled all over the world and she is objectively the best of any vet we’ve had. She is extremely thorough and knowledgeable. Additionally, her personalized service is exceptional. Texts, pictures, videos, and updates made us feel our pet was truly being well cared for.

I have a sick old pug I called about getting in, I knew her time was coming and called to see how they were going about things with COVID and what prices were. I called 3 vets in south Reno. When I called here I was quoted $300-$400 for euthanasia WITHOUT cremation by the receptionist. The other 2 places I called less than that WITH cremation. I received a call back that day but had decided to go somewhere else due to the price I was quoted. Dr. Baker reached out to me the next morning and this is the reason I decided to write this review. I told her the price I was quoted and told her I decided to go elsewhere, she got very rude with me and swore up and down that I was never quoted because she personally didn’t give me a quote. The way she handled everything was completely unprofessional especially for a person going through a difficult time with losing a pet. It completely blew my mind that she would rather argue that I wasn’t quoted at all instead of being professional and saying I’m sorry you were misquoted. It got to the point where I felt I was being called a liar, even after trying to end the conversation and telling her to have a good day, or thank you for your time, she still kept texting me that her office would never quote over the phone. It couldn’t have been her office and I was wrong. I ended up having to block her number to get some peace. Compassion is obviously not a strong point with Dr. Baker, I would never take an future pets here for anything. The staff at the other 2 places I called were very welcoming and helpful and comforting. Completely the opposite of this experience with Dr Baker.

Over the years, I have had 4 dogs treated by Dr. Baker. We moved to Reno in 2014, and both of my dogs were old at that time. When my mastiff developed lymphoma, Dr. Baker was quick to make the diagnosis and recommend treatment. I also obtained referrals from our vet from Hawaii and got the same feedback. I trust her professionalism, her diagnostic skills, and her treatment plans. She is a great vet. Plus, my dogs love her!

They were the only non emergency clinic that could get me in the same day. The prices are very reasonable and the service was fast and complete

The staff is very patient and kind. They treat the stressed pets with love and respect. They are willing to help and answer any questions that you may have. My pets and I love it here!

I have had nothing short of wonderful experiences each time Dr. Baker has seen our dog! Her entire staff were always pleasant and knowledgeable, and Dr. Baker herself always gave us her full attention. She never hesitated to go above and beyond when it came to caring for our dog. We had to lay our dog to rest, and Dr. Baker made one of the hardest day of our lives a little easier by being such a gentle, caring, compassionate presence. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs a vet!!

There are so so so many good things to say about this vet! Dr. Shelby Baker really takes the time to make sure your pet is well taken care of! I really don't think she ever stops working. She made sure that my cat was well taken care of the day of, and then she messaged me several days later to make sure my cat was doing better! Even after hours! She just earned herself a forever patient. Love the staff her too!

Medication costs more than 2x as online. Chewy is a local company that has way better prices. Never buy from them. Always ask for a prescription slip instead. This place has also gone downhill in the past 2 years. I have lived here for 5 and been using them since. I called in the morning to drop my dog off for a possible sprain in his right elbow. The receptionist said she called my wife but there was never a voicemail. I got a second call around lunchtime at my number and said to drop him off so I did. They call me again at closing time as I’m on my way to drop my family member off at an extremely important meeting. I explained to them I was in a hurry and had to leave right then. The receptionist was more interested in her nails and said “It’s only a 20 minute drive.” I said no, I need to leave now. She understood, or so I thought, and said “We need to get you out of here then.” Then she sat down and ignored me. The owner eventually came out and talked and talked about there being something wrong with his right elbow but she wasn’t sure what. All that cost me $246. I also told them I didn’t need the medication because I had some leftover from last time but nobody was listening and I was in a huge hurry. I tried to return it the next day but they refused. Again, it was over 2x the cost as Chewy.

Amazing experience every time. The vets and techs are so compassionate with the animals and fur parents! I've been going here for about a year now for my dog and cats and I have nothing but good things to say.

Great staff! Love this place!

Dr. Carr is one of the kindest animal doctors out there. He showed nothing but compassion and empathy when I had to put down my best buddy Frankie the weenie dog, and when my other weenie Jack Jack had paralysis issues. Their facility is always so clean, and their staff is phenomenal. I wont go anywhere else.

Too busy for new patients. Steer clear. Don't let them tell you otherwise. We called for three days and were unable to get an appointment on schedule. Weren't able to provide us next available date/time either. We were told to just keep calling back and eventually someone might be able to help. Wow!

Super caring people and willing to help. My only complaint is that it can get expensive quick.
