I really appreciated the time and extent of effort they gave me. But something was just off the whole time. This was my first pet ever, and it so happened to be my last too. I wish they could have asked me along the multiple bombarding questions or assumed that it was my first pet before I was hit with attitudes by both a nurse and the Vet doc. I truly didn't know what to do so I had no choice but to drop a load to put down my sweet baby. I wish the experience was a bit less stressful than it was. Save your time and money before coming here. This place should be a last resort for everyone. Theres a lot better ER & clinics that could give you more and better options.

A 6-week old puppy got bitten. I was happy that they saved her eye. We paid $1,500+ and waited for over an hour, outside for her to be seen. It was cold. When they brought her out, it was freezing temps; they didn't wrap her in a blanket; she was shivering. We weren't told when to remove the bandage or cone. Also, the cone was too large and there was no string holding it so it fell off. I called back to get clarity about the bandage and cone. The nurse was curt. She said our puppy needed a CT to determine if surgery was needed, however, there was no swelling of the brain, no internal bleeding, and puppy was acting her normal energetic self. The fractures were not impacting her ability to eat, or function, as the location was the top of the skull. We were told they were puncture wounds and she would heal in 6-8 weeks. We didn't have $2,500 and felt based on everything, it wasn't necessary, but considered the "gold standard". The nurse didn't treat us well because of not having the money for the CT. I'm both thankful, but also encourage them to work on bedside manners. It was a tough night.

A very enthusiastic pit mix jumped up on me and almost knocked me over while slightly nipping my face and my enormous GSD was not having it. So, er…my dog bit another dog. Inflicting two puncture wounds. It was Sunday up in Truckee so nobody was around or open to help. After being turned away at another vet in Reno, Animal Emergency and Specialty Center took really really good care of the bitten dog. Thankfully no stitches. Really good wound care and meds and guidance and fairly quick turnaround. Just a few hours and we were on our way. Also. Friendly comforting staff.

I have now come to this emergency animal service place twice , and this is the second time I have left having to go somewhere else because they don’t have the proper machines. The first time my dog was attacked and had a tongue laceration and had to have teeth removed. They apparently didn’t have an x ray machine to see if there were tooth fragments remaining, so I had to take him in for a SECOND surgery to remove those fragments. Second surgery cost was $2,000. First surgery cost was $1000. The second time I went in because I knew my dog was having back pain, and given his breed as a french bulldog it is not uncommon to have disk or c spine problems. Knowing this I called ahead of time to make sure that they had all the proper machinery before we took him there given out last experience. Whoever answered the phone responded yes we do - fast forward 4 hours later they called me saying they actually don’t have the machine and that he would have to go to Sierra Veterinarian Center. They charged me of course. And now I have to drive to Sierra center and re pay all the fees for a second tome today. Save your MONEY and TIME and go to a real emergency vet clinic.

Doctor was very thorough. I don’t know how they work all night as I too was up all night worrying. Tech was friendly. Very knowledgeable and saved our fur baby. Wish I could use as my regular vet.

Because of covid, I had to wait in the car while they treated my dog. He came out happy and not traumatized. Staff and Vet was friendly and helpful.

Horrible service when I called to get my cat in for specialty services…. Also I found out their “specialty services” are the same my current vet has, but 5x the cost… I was told they “didn’t have “ the machines to run the tests I needed…. Went to SVS and they took care of me in less than 6 hours…. I would avoid this place like the plague.

Save yourself the agony of a strip mall animal hospital and go to Sierra Vet Specialist & Emergency. Also I don’t typically imagine my specialty center for my cat in a strip mall next to a Taco Bell…. SVS facility did not disappoint. Also I found out most of their vets have been fired from other hospitals and apparently anyone can work here…. Not someone I would trust with my fur baby.

Dr Martini was very kind and courteous and spent plenty of time on the phone to discuss about our dog, we felt heard and not rushed. She was easy to talk to and was clear on procedures she recommended as well as their prices.

The drop off experience was good, not great. They were somewhat friendly and receptive to my pets needs. After my cat was examined I was told my cat would need stitches and antibiotics. The verbal quote was $300. After I received the call to pick her up I was left waiting outside for over 45 minutes until I could get someone give me the invoice. When I could get someone to answer the phone I was given a verbal invoice for $603.00 (over double the cost I was told even after they saw my cat and had a game plan for service) I asked to see the invoice to verify pricing. Form there I waited another 20 minutes outside. Once I was able to meet with someone I was greeted with a harsh attitude and told that my only choices were to pay the balance without questions or to not get my cat back. I was offered no friendly or professional communication on the matter of the bill. After realizing I had no other option to not loose our family pet, I gave a credit card to the woman. Form there, I waited another 20 minutes and when I asked if my card went through as I was unsure if I had that kind of money at that time, I was told " I'm busy and will get it to you soon". At this point I was very emotional because of my cat and also being financially unstable. She finally brought me my card, offered no words of kindness, and then took another 20+minutes to bring my cat out to me. The amount of follow up care information was little to none. For the amount they charge it would be nice to have a conversation about what I should be doing at home. That was completely let non existent. I do understand that they are busy and working with a lot of stressful situations, but I don't feel that they should loose there humanity along the way or treat people in a troubling situation with such disregard.

If you LOVE your beloved friend/family/pet, STAY THE HECK AWAY! I blame myself because I had failed to check reviews prior as I was so worried - all of these reviews on here are accurate. They basically took $1700 from me to DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING FOR MY CAT! If anything made him worse. I would rather get surgery done where the chances are much higher for survival. Im talking 5 star vets in the highest priced areas of my hometown are LESS $$ and better QUALITY... You should ALL BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED - DO NOT GO TO THIS VET!

Don’t know how this place even got 3stars more like a 0 stars place. Worst customer service ever people working here are pessimistic and unworthy!!!would never leave my dog in their hands✅ Good luck to you all!

If I could give 0 stars I would. We had called in advance for our dog because it was non stop vomiting all day. This was our last option. We drove 30 minutes here and called to check in and they said someone would be with us in a minute. It took them an hour to even give us paperwork to fill out. Then we had to wait another hour until they even took my dog inside to get checked out. They do not even care about the animals.

Keeping in mind this place is for emergencies, and that is expected to come at a higher cost, these people are insane. Over $700 to put down my sick dog and return the ashes. I frantically called around and another vet (our regular vet was closed) stayed open a few minutes late to accommodate us, and the total was under $400. These people provide a needed service, but absolutely take advantage of people at a stressful and difficult time. Literally almost DOUBLE the price.

Poor customer service and lack the ability to see sick pets... How can they call themselves an emergency pet clinic and tell you it will be over a 4hr wait to see your pet, so please wait here in the parking lot. Ridiculous and to top it off I waited over 30 mins just to be told that. I hope my pet doesn't die while waiting.

We took our dog there for emergency treatment and were the only ones in the parking lot for an hour with no updates or communication whatsoever. We tracked down a tech for an update and were told the time to be seen was still indeterminate. After waiting literally all night to pick up our pet after a short procedure, they sent us home one of the vials of medication was totally empty. They proceeded to blame us for 'not knowing how to use the medication' and for losing the medication somehow out of the bottle. We showed them the empty, dry bottle when we drove all the back to the facility. They still insisted it was our fault the vial was empty. They were rude to us and said they were going to ban us for life (LOL) after charging us 500.00. Nice. They also charged us a 'hospitalization fee' -- for what?! Leaving the dog there all night long when it was because they were too busy to treat him when we brought him earlier in the evening?

Called this place for an estimate of getting my cats mouth an X-ray. $800! Lol. When I asked why the price is so high they said it’s because they have to send it off to a pathologist. I don’t blame the person on the phone they don’t set the prices. This should tell you all you need to know about this place. A 10 year old could look at an X-ray and see if something was in an animals mouth. It says something when most of the ratings of this place are about how bad the care here is. It’s one thing to rip people off, it’s another to rip people off and not have competent staff to diagnose simple things. Save your money.

Very kind and helpful, despite the Covid restrictions. They were very understanding when I had to put my cat down due to cancer.

I can’t say enough about how great they have been here. My puppy had eaten Foreign body again! Dr. Atkinson was very professional explained every detail. The vet at discharge was also amazing! It was a little pricey but they took really good care of my dog and we’re very thorough. I had to bring her back again because she had a lump under her incision. Dr. Dell was awesome and again thorough and explained everything. Hopefully we won’t have any trips back here again but I know I can always rely on them to take good care of my animals! The staff was amazing too!

If 0 stars were an option... took our 11 year old cat in for emergency care. Our normal vet was closed and her condition worsened severely and we could not wait for her scheduled appt. We ace and they said bring her in. Upon arrival we were met with a locked door and had to call in. They are still hiding behind BS covid protocols that were lifted 2 months ago. As we stood outside trying to get someone to answer the phone one of the techs came out stepped around me and my panting drooling in distress cat and said nothing. On the phone we were told to wait in our car and they would get to us. No triage. No initial assessment, nothing. We went to another emergency center where they immediately triaged our cat to sure her safety... hello.. emergency. If you want true care for your pet and not some sorry a... clinic that cares more about sitting inside and hiding, then providing true care, don't come here

My dog was kicked by a horse. I called in to let them know I was coming. When I got there they were at max capacity, which is expected at a small animal emergency vet. Because they saw the severity and I gave them warning they were able to see and treat my dog in good time. All the staff were compassionate and DR. Vega was very thorough, answered all of my questions, and made sure my dog was comfortable. Duffy is now home and as comfortable as he can be. Thank you to every staff member for taking care of my dog! You all are so needed and I can’t express my gratitude enough.

The entire staff was ready and willing to help. My dog had to have fluid drained that was around her heart and they were very upfront of what needed to happen and helped right away. Within a week my dog passed and they were right there to help me put her out of pain. I could not be more grateful for the compassion from the staff. My primary vet would not even make time for me and they took above and beyond great care. Love this place!!

The worst bed side manor I have ever experienced with any of my fur babies! the vet was more concerned with me being able to pay the bill than the actual condition of my puppy. She seemed annoyed and inconvenienced by my questions after his surgery. Our dog is a part of our family. Just like my human children, his health and life matter to us Immensely! Having a deathly ill dog and knowing If you don’t come up with that 5000$ upfront then they will die is not an easy thing for anyone. But, having the professional there treat you and your fur baby like a pay check is inexcusable! I feel that perhaps this clinic, especially Dr Stucki has forgotten why they are in the field they are in. The only good thing about this experience, besides the saving of our pup of course, was The nurse Kit. She listened to my concerns and even noticed that we were not given anything to keep him calm and made sure a Prescription was called in.

I’m not sure why people rated this place with one star. The vet assistant McKenzie and Dr. Bell were great with my Pippa and with us. They both were very caring and Dr. Bell was very good st explaining everything. Yes my Pippa passed but she was very sick. I recommend this place to anyone and I recommend Dr. Bell.

$685 for an X-ray and 8 hr wait with no diagnosis. What a waste of time and money. Update: I apologize and will be honest, my dog has arthritis and unusual bone growth. My regular vet had to do further x rays and tests to confirm. They took good care of my pup and unfortunately her condition wasn’t fixable.

My dog was recently diagnosed with cancer and I have been trying to get an appt for 3 weeks now with no luck. They have taken message after message from me and now on my last call told me they can't help me without more information about the cancer. I dont understand why they kept taking my messages and acting like they would call me back if they never intended to. The girl I spoke with Taylor was incredibly rude and obviously doesn't care about the animals coming in or being emotionally supportive during an incredibly hard time their patients family is going through. In my opinion she should be fired and never work in a hospital setting again

Baby Frenchie ate a HUGE toy and was seriously ill and vomiting after every meal. Surgery seemed imminent. Brought my pup in around 8 pm. All communication with the vet was done via phone which was... odd... but, whatever. The vet tech assessed her outside. You are not allowed to step into the actual vet clinic. You will be waiting in your vehicle the duration of your pet's visit you can leave and come back too, I live out of town so needed to stay close. I was prepared for the wait and brought entertainment. Emergency Vet visits are EXPENSIVE. I was ready to pay for the services and understood that it would be at a premium especially out of pocket. (I've gotten pet insurance since!) *They also accept the care credit. After x-rays and some expert hands, we were able to avoid surgery and the toy was retrieved intact. We finished at 1:30am. Be prepared to wait. Thank you to the staff from the both of us!! Added a reference of the toy she gobbled down. She devoured 10 segments intact! ???? (Kids will pick up all delicious chewy looking toys from now on.)

10/10 would let your pet die in lobby for $$$. Could care less about your companion. They just want to maximize profits. Sad...
