This place saved my dogs life. The staff is so gentle and caring. They even helped me find financial assistance for my dogs surgery.

A no kill animal shelter along with pet hospital. Going on vacation and can't take your pet? Their Club Pet will care for your pet at a reasonable price. Critter camp for kids before covid is excellent. One of a number of places to adopt a pet. Their dog surf contest on September is really special! Here are some photos of nearby Del Mar Beach where the dogs hit the surf! A must see event!

Love this place and have used them since 2003. They have an amazing military program fund for two of your pets. The vets are very thoughtful and really take care of your pets for you. We’ve used their boarding as well.

I give Helen Woodward a perfect score, because of how conversant the vets and techs are, to their clients. They also treat their "patients" very well, and are just as attentive to their needs. Additionally, I rescued my Shiba Inu from there, and was pleased with their adoption services, contributions to providing service animals to patients in need, and how informed and authentic they are.

Brought in our cat for his first general check-up. He was perfectly fine, but we brought him in because we had a free certificate from the Helen Woodward animal shelter where we adopted him from. They also recommended it. We expressed that all was well outside of a possible decrease in his appetite, which was not too concerning as it had only been 1-2 days since we noticed this change. During the visit Dr. Carter said his vitals were stable and he seemed healthy outside of being an anxious/nervous cat. She also tried giving him Gerber’s baby food (chicken and gravy) to stimulate his appetite which she expressed was ok for cats. I had never heard of giving cats baby food, but we trusted Dr. Carter’s recommendation given she is the specialist. Dr. Carter mentioned she would give us the rest of the baby food to see if it would help with our cat’s appetite, which I was initially very impressed and appreciative of thinking she was doing it out of the goodness of her heart, but of course we were charged $4 for it when reviewing the visit invoice. When our cat was returned to our vehicle, it was very noticeable that there was a change in his behavior. He was no longer meowing and seemed sedated. I opened my cat carrier expecting my cat to want to get out, but he would not move. I tried petting him, which he normally responds to by purring and rubbing up against me, but once again no movement. I tried giving him more of the baby food that was given to us and to my pleasant surprise he ate a good amount. Fast forward two days after our visit, our cat has had diarrhea and vomited and is still not behaving like himself. I’m assuming the behavior change is due to him not feeling well, but it’s hard to know if he is still affected by his visit to the vet because it overlapped with his GI upset. I’m not sure what happened during the visit (due to COVID precautions we were not able to be physically present), but I know that since that visit my cat has not been the same. I’m almost certain the baby food gave him the diarrhea and cause him to vomit. Whatever the cause, I am very disappointed in my cat’s care at this hospital and would not recommend it to anyone .

We love Helen Woodward! We bring all of our pets here for their veterinary needs because the vets are friendly and knowledgeable, but they won't perform unnecessary treatments and the prices are the most reasonable we've found in San Diego county.

Awesome staff and genuinely caring vets. Helped us out in a major way when we were evacuated due to the Ridgecrest earthquakes. Would highly recommend to anyone. Thank you Helen Woodward!

I loved the indoor/outdoor optional kennels where the puppies were kept. Seemed as all dogs for adoption here are only puppies and super expensive at that! I'm talking $300-500 . More power to people who can afford that as these puppies need a home too. Staff seemed nice from what I saw.

Our Pomeranian puppy, Sasha, broke four of her metacarpals at 20 weeks when she decided to jump off of our second story balcony. Dr. Carter, along with the rest of the staff, made a traumatic event bearable. She is extremely professional, as well as empathetic and warm. She even hugged me because I was so distraught. We couldn't ask for better care. The staff has been very accommodating. I highly recommend this team!

Everyone was very friendly and helpful. If anyone had an attitude it was always the clientele coming in. They are good on call backs and checking up on your pup/kitten after surgery. They are really good with getting things done in a timely manner though they do warn you the process to getting the surgery done can take up most of the day. Your animal may be there from 830am and operated on only hours after. Their prices are highly affordable for the care your pet is receiving. Despite not being a fan of the cone Butters has made an amazing recovery and still enjoyed his daily activities cone or not. He left the hospital a happy pup overall :)

Brought my puppy in to get spayed, dropped her off at 8am and she didn’t end up having surgery until 2, no food and no water, no call to me about updates or anything, then they fed her after surgery without my consent( she’s on a special diet and can’t just eat anything), then next morning her incision is bleeding and I call to see if she needs to come back and the lack of care was astounding. Then I get told that I should hear back by the end of the day, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? So unprofessional.
