I'm new to the area, but this is, without a doubt, one of the best vets I've ever been to. The staff is so friendly and is so communicative with us about our cats, going far above and beyond the bare minimum. I'm very thankful to have found them!

Do not support this vet. They will not support you or your pet when you need them. I’d give them negative stars if I could. I am horrified by my experience today with Alexis at the front desk. My dog was in desperate need of antibiotics and she assured me when I called this morning that she would have a doctor call me and get his antibiotics prescribed by end of day, no problem. When I didn’t hear back by mid-day I called again to relay the urgency of the situation and to ensure a doctor would be calling me. Alexis said to be patient. Not surprisingly, the doctor never called and the hospital is now closed. I’m now cancelling my weekend plans and frantically searching for emergency facilities to take my dog to because I was relying on their receptionist’s word and promise that she would get him the medicine he needed. They knew that my dog was suffering and that I was desperate for antibiotics today because their office is closed tomorrow (Sunday) and he is in pain. Save yourself and your pet the trouble and go to a vet you can rely on when it matters!!!

Thank you so much to Alejandra and the entire staff at VCA; all the kids, their families, and teachers are grateful for taking the time to meet with us virtually and teach us about your work with animals. Many of the children said they want to be veterinarians when they grow up. Thank you so much.!

The staff here is so helpful and kind! I had to get an international health certificate for my dog to relocate with us to Germany and it looked like it was a complicated process. But Marisa was helpful every step of the way, being available through text for any questions and making sure I had everything I needed. She went above and beyond to make the health certificate process smooth. My dog and I made it successfully to Germany with no hiccups! We’ll miss VCA Palo Alto! Thank you for all your help!

Had to have my sister's dog put to sleep due to old age. The staff was amazing and it was very nice to see people care so much but not only the pet but the customer as well...

We have been going to this animal hospital for many years, and particularly like Dr Smith, who is our favorite veterinarian. Their other vets are also very good. We think they are very thorough, very kind, and really understand both pets and the people who take care of them. I highly recommend this group.

I called today to make an appointment for my sick kitty and had the pleasure of speaking with Mia. Even though they were fully booked for appointments, she made the extra mile into calling other places for availability and actually got me an appointment close by! I am forever grateful and will definitely come to VCA Palo Alto when appointments start opening up. Thank you so much for your help Mia! It’s the little things that make ALL the difference!

This place is amazing. As background, I've been going to Adobe Animal Hospital for +20 years. After they expanded and moved to their bigger location, their service changed. It wasn't the little hospital that once cared for my many canines. Somewhere along the road they lost that community vet vibe I really loved. Ever since, I'd been keeping an eye out for a good local vet. A few years ago, while cat sitting for a good friend, I ended up having to make an emergency visit to this VCA. It turned out my friend's cat, who was a senior with a myriad of health issues, had to be put down. With my friend out of town and having to work with the doctors and nurses at VCA myself, I was blown away by their empathy, kindness and end of life care. They were professional, thoughtful and accommodated me even though I was not the owner. I was able to get see my friend's cat and hold my phone up to his ear so they could say their final good-byes. When it came time for me to find another vet for my 16yo grumpy floof and my newly adopted semi-feral kitten, this was the only place I considered. And, I've actually referred several people here before becoming a client myself because they're that good. Each visit reminds me of what makes this hospital so great. From Marisa to Cynthia to Dr. Dean they're an all around great team and you can't go wrong if you choose to bring your fur babies here.

First, the front desk Taylor has major attitude over the phone! She was very rude! I have never in all my years that I’ve been to Vca have been spoken to like that. After trying to book an appointment for my dog, which they are fully booked for the next 3 weeks! With no exceptions for a long time client. Unbelievable service!

They are doing a great job during covid. Texting updates all the time once you have dropped off your pet for a visit. Dr. Dean was texting me daily for the next few days after my visit making sure that our pet had no issues once being taken home. Great team there all around!

There were some serious communication issues going on when I needed to bring my dog in for a procedure. Before making an appointment for your pet, ask to speak to the vet who'll be helping you so that you can set up a proper appointment with proper expectations Edit: Marisa is very aware of the issue, I spoke to her the day this happened

I love all the staff members here. Dr. Kim is really wonderful, informative and eases my new puppy mom anxieties. I always get text updates which is great. The staff members always check to see how Everest is doing after our appointments. My only complaint is that they way overcharge for meds. I got his flea/tick meds for $30 less on chewy. Unless you need the meds that day, I would always suggest checking Chewy’s prices on meds before buying at vca. Jessica, Marisa, Pam, Mia, Alex and everyone I don’t remember their names... thank you for being so good to Everest and I.

I help out with my elderly mother’s dogs when I visit twice a year and this includes many visits to VCA. They treat her dogs so well, they know me now and accommodate me when I can be there, and are so caring with all of us. Everyone from the receptionists to the techs to the vets are wonderful! I recommend them very highly.

My cat has runny, watery eyes. Called this hospital at 3:30pm on Wednesday afternoon to get her checked out because watery eyes could be a sign of something serious and I'm a worried Catmom. The vet was already leaving for the day. (But open until 6pm?). She stayed to see my cat, but I needed to come immediately. They had my cat for exactly 15 minutes to tell me it was probably allergies and I should call again tomorrow. Paid $85 for this assessment. My cat is still weeping tonight.

I called because I just moved to the area and was concerned about an issue my dog has. My dog already has cancer so every issue bo matter how small is always concerning. When I called to try to make an appointment the person told me there was nothing available till Mid Jan. I asked for a recommendation as this issue might be serious and she said she wasn't able to give medical advise and to call to other hospitals. I sure did call another animal hospital and they consulted with the vet for me and put me on the wait list. A little compassion goes a long way.

VCA was incredible with my aging dog. They advised and recommended us through her final days in a objective and very compassionate way. Dr. J. Smith and Pam Warrior are absolutely fabulous.

We're moving two dogs internationally and Mari and the team at VCA have been just incredible partners. This whole process is so complex, especially now, but they have been responsive and knowledgeable and so friendly. Emailing ahead of time to prepare, texting to make sure everything was good, communicating with the USDA -- they've been truly excellent. Get help here if you're moving a pet overseas!

They saw my unwell cat with a couple of hours notice, they took her in and were so friendly and kept me informed every step of the way! I'm very pleased I found them an will definitely be going back- hopefully not too soon though! It's stressful trying to find someone you can trust especially in these times when it's hard to actually be with your sick animals in vets visits , I wouldn't have any hesitation leaving my fur babies here.

I dont like to leave negative reviews but I will for the sake of the pups ???????? I came in for a complimentary first checkup and they did not handle my nervous chihuahua well. All other vets I've had have been able to easily treat her without muzzling, but they muzzled her almost immediately and took her into another room for the exam which I'm sure made her even more defensive and scared. I probably should have insisted she stayed with me but I deferred to their expertise I guess. Then they offered to clip her nails and I accepted, not having been told at any point that they would charge $23 . That's what a full human manicure costs! Finally, I feel like I left without being told any information about my dog's general state of health. It was a very strange experience and I have since found a much gentler, more thorough and transparent vet.

Started taking my cats here at my cat sitter's suggestion after my sitter had trouble dealing with my vet. They're been great so far treating abcesses, tooth extractions, and minor surgery.

Brought my 2 y.o. cat, Chai, here on short notice-3 other places were all booked. My cat was sneezing badly which can be a sign of resp. infection. Dr. V was great. My cat did not have a fever or any other signs of obvious illness. She was very patient observing her when she started the "sneezing". Dr. V noticed clear discharge from the R eye. Her snorting was coupled with a shake of her head as if wanting to get something out from her head. Dr. V figured that this more an allergic reaction perhaps due to something up in her nose that you and I could get with our fingers. Pediatric Benadryl anti-histamine liquid was recommended. I went to Walgreen's to get the over the counter(OTC) med. I drew up the tsp. in a syringe and started to give a bit-she immediately began choking and producing copious amts. of foamy, thick mucus. She was frightened from the experience as was I! I Googled Benadryl and learned that it's extremely bitter in spite of it being bubbled gum flavored. Zyrtec was recommended instead. Rather than put her through another oral med. ordeal I think I am returning for her to get the Benadryl injection instead.
