I have been taking my dog to Montclair Vet for years now. I always feel that they listen and genuinely care about the health and care of my dog. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for an excellent vet.

Had been going here with my chinchilla for several years to treat his bouts of malocclosion and get teeth trimmed. On our last visit the vet who has been treating him all these years stated that they "are not really equipped to treat him " there because they just do dogs and cats. Not really sure why the sudden change in practice but if you don't treat chinchillas any longer, or maybe not for this issue, it would have been nice to know that before scheduling the appointment since my pet is seen here EXCLUSIVELY for this issue and it was known beforehand why he was being seen since I had to fill out a questionnaire. Thr vet said she would follow up with me with some other place that might take him but she never did. Not a good experience and obviously won't be returning since my chinchilla can't get treated there. I will not recommend this practice.

They used to be a great clinic. In the past few years though, they have really gone downhill. I have never seen the same vet twice; I guess they have a high turnover rate, which makes it hard to feel comfortable and create a relationship with any doctor. They can’t seem to remember that my cat is a boy, not a girl. I’ve had to remind them for years, every time we go there. The vet tech who gave my cat a shot, pierced through his Skin and out the other side, and got all the liquid from the shot onto my leg instead (kitty was on my lap from the shot). Lastly, they are always trying to sell something instead of just focusing on the main reason we come in. I have switched to Broadway Pet Hospital.

They are the guardian of our three dogs - they keep our dogs healthy and always answer my stupid questions. Really kind and thoughtful people.

It was my first time at this Vet clinic. The receptionist who booked the appointment was helpful. I'm glad she said it's next to the Lucky's and under the Back of America building. That helped me to find it! Parking is difficult, so arrive early to give yourself time to find a parking space and not miss your appointment. The staff inside are lovely. They were gentle and caring to my rabbit. I overheard a guy who said his dog hated going to another Vet clinic, but his dog seemed to like it there with them. You can tell they really like animals. My only complaint is they thought it was cute when a Labrador was getting riled up, jumping around and barking loudly in the waiting area, which made my rabbit very scared and nervous. Luckily my rabbit was secure in his carrier. I thought they would have been more considerate about that, which is why I gave them four stars.

Edit: no longer using Montclair Vet since it changed ownership. Vets I liked have moved on, and so have I. —- Our dogs and cats have relied on Montclair Veterinary Hospital for excellent routine and primary care since 2006. We've never had a negative experience. Vets seem comfortable with my titer first, vaccinate only if necessary philosophy. Techs and office staff are really nice. If one of my fur-kids goes in for illness or injury, rather than routine check-up, there's always a follow up call the next day to check on progress.

Our feline has a digestive issue, and both vets have been very helpful. Both have emailed personally to follow up and provide additional information. The assistants are competent. Everyone is gentle with my pet. Highly recommend.

I've tried different vets in the area but love the service I get a MVH. Staff is always super friendly and accommodating. The vets are professional and have given me great advice and direction.

Our Labrador Optimus Prime always gets the best care and honest recommendations on what is best for him. The staff does what’s necessary to make him comfortable and always are excited to see him when he visits, making it easier for him. When he came in on his birthday on year, they made him a “Birthday Treat Cake!”

My Lilly is 15 years old with many issues. Dr. Rajmaira took the time to explain honestly what the situation is. We discussed my options and decided to let nature take its course. The experience was positive. Everyone was kind and friendly.

Our Doctor was wonderful and caring. We got an appointment quickly. Looks like we have found our new veterinarians in Montclair Veterinary Hospital!

Dr. Moulton and the staff were patient and amazing. We brought in a foster kitten due to some concerns and after a thorough examination we were assured she was okay. Kitten had enough with being in the carrier and was protesting to get out.

Dr. Ives is a rare gem in a region that needs more avian vets. Thankful for her help with my chickens!

I have been going here since adoption of my then 6month old rescue German Shepherd/Lab mix. I was able to get all required and recommended shots as well as a prescription for heartworm, flea, and tick medication. They also have been very helpful during urgent visits (like when she broke a nail and was limping) and have been incredibly helpful to be able to call and talk too for simple advice for less acute problems. All of the staff are friendly and knowledgeable and wonderful with my dog. I highly recommend establishing them as your vet of choice.

I dropped off a stool sample for my sick dog on Monday and was told that I’d receive results later that day. They promptly called on Monday to receive my payment. Left voice mails enquiring about results. It’s now Friday and I have not heard back. Took another sample elsewhere and my dog is on the mend. Asked for a refund and still no word. I used to love this place but most of the vets I liked are gone and the service has deteriorated. May be COVID related but what I shared here is unacceptable. Looking for a new great vet in the area.

After having such a bad experience at the last vet visit, Montclair was very helpful friendly and treated my dog like their own pet. I trust them completely

Been with Montclair Vet since the 90's (Dr. Harris then Dr. Richter). They were, hands down, the best. New ownership has unfortunately brought the quality of this once remarkably vet down precipitously. Hope they change. Still some very nice people but the operation has suffered.

Montclair Veterinary Hospital is the best! They quickly made a spay appointment because my mini dachshund was close to going into heat and needed to deciduous (baby) teeth removed. They were kind, knowing that I was worried and got her back to me as soon as it was possible. All the details were taken care of and they even called the next day to see how my pup was feeling. The incision looks clean, and though my pup isn't doing cartwheels just yet, she is remarkably able to get around and is eating well. Montclair Veterinary is awesome - Well Done!

This business used to be great. Now they are owned by a corporation and their service is now terrible. Avoid at all cost. EDIT – We moved back to Oakland and tried this place again (very good location for us so why not) From what I can tell, they have gotten their act together. They still fail to pick up the phone at times, but the service has improved and the staff was more friendly than ever. I think there may have been some positive effects from turnover.

Caring staff who give you a very clear sense that they're invested in a healthy outcome for your pet. COVID protocols have smoothed out over the months and the operation has achieved its pre-pandemic efficiency.

Very thorough vet with staff that's really understanding. Our pup is always well taken care of here. He doesn't have a fear of the vet because the staff is just that wonderful!

I brought my two cats here for years. Im not sure what happened, but the quality has declined recently. I brought my cats in for a routine checkup and mentioned that one of them had been throwing up. They did blood work and brushed it off as maybe he had eaten something and it might pass and they also told me he was really healthy for a cat his age. His condition worsened over the next couple of days and I took him to a different vet where they informed me that he had severe stomach cancer. His condition declined quickly and he was dead a week and a half after his checkup. I know there was nothing I could have done to save my cat from his condition, but the fact that Montclair vet told me that he was fine when he was that sick is concerning. I will not bring any of my animals back here and this place may be cruising on past reputation. Decide for yourself, but I would advise being wary of this place.

This place used to be pet oriented, it’s unfortunate.
