Office staff was great. It’s been a long time since I had any impression that a vet made a decision that wasn’t in my dog’s best interest—but that’s what happened here. My trust in the doctor was badly misplaced. And the damage is irreversible and will negatively affect the quality of his life. He is such a gentle, sweet-natured dog who deserved much better treatment. I’m heartbroken.

I've been super satisfied with each of my visits to East Bay Vet!! I take my two chihuahuas here and they are always treated very kindly and gently (theyre both old guys, both of which have gotten their nails trimmed here–not an easy feat!) by the vets and techs, and I always get a detailed explanation of what is going on with each! Would definitely recommend :)

I took my new rescue for her first vet visit and they were all so kind and informative. They call to remind you of appointments and call to check up after a service. The doctor walked me through all of the things they did and checked and was very open to questions or concerns. Everyone there seems patient and happy to be there. (There are definitely some grumpy folks in the world who should not be working with people and animals) I'm new to having a dog and was very anxious but now feel very comfortable to continue using EBVC. Pic is post vaccine, sleepy but in no pain.

It's taken me a bit of time to write this review. My husband and I had been bringing our 3 pugs here since we moved to California 5ish years ago. When we had our rescue pug spayed in Virginia, the vet told us that pugs bred like she had been were at an increased risk of developing cancer. When her breasts started leaking a couple years ago, we brought her in and they did a culture which was negative. We brought her in multiple times for what we felt were related issues and were told essentially that they were benign. Then about 3 months ago, we go for a second opinion after she started seizing and discover that she has cancer essentially everywhere. Less than 2 weeks later our baby girl was gone and we were devastated. In the lead up to this, we get a call from a rude staff member that the vet will no longer fill prescriptions for our old man, who is on palliative care mind you, because he hasn't been seen in over a year. The only prescription that he takes is vetprofen (essentially doggy ibuprofen) and I'm not bringing him in for $300+ worth of visit and painful tests, only to continue the same palliative care plan we agreed to last time we visited. The vet called back and agreed to fill the pain medication after receiving my rather pointed message, but I just don't understand why they would withhold an 18yo pug's pain medication to get me to come into the office without first just asking me if I wanted to come in and explaining how that might be of benefit to him. I gave them a second star because Drs. Gill and Sandhu are both fairly friendly and reasonable, but that's all I can offer. I have an appointment to get our remaining pug an annual vaccination, but after that I fully intend to find another vet.

Long hold times and rude phone operators. Did not appreciate being left on hold for fifteen minutes to inquire about walk-ins, and also did not appreciate the unhelpfulness of the representative in regards to potentially setting an appointment to have my pup examined.

My Veterinarian spent time explaining what was going on with my dog and was very helpful.

Who said I didn't have a good experience? It was OK. My pet didn't have a good experience, but that's understandable because he had surgery. I would have given you less stars if I had a bad experience.

Unfortunately I brought my dog to this vet after moving to the east bay last year. He had developed a persistent cough and I wanted to make sure he was okay. They did a chest x-ray and told me he had allergies... I didn't believe that he had allergies because he had never had them before and they kind of dismissive about the diagnosis. "just give him benadryl". Fast forward 6 months and he starts having trouble breathing. I take him to another vet and he they diagnosed him with a giant lung tumor... that's why he had developed a cough months prior. By the time we got him into surgery the surgeon found that the cancer had metastasized into his lymph nodes and liver and he had 4 months to live :( I truly wish I had found a different vet when I moved to Oakland who cared more about my dog's health and pursued a proper diagnosis instead of dismissing him and telling me it's allergies. I have trouble believing that the lung tumor wasn't visible on an x-ray if it was big enough to cause him to cough... They just weren't good enough doctors to save his life. I would not recommend having your pet cared for here. My dog would still be alive if I had found better care elsewhere. His cancer probably would have been caught before it metastasized and became a death sentence.

I was able to get my dog seen the same day. I had tried to make the appointment with my regular vet but was unable to get an appointment until the following week. My 14 yr old dog had a draining sore on his leg. He was examined by Dr. Gill and appropriate treatment was given. She called me and explained the treatment plan and asked if I had questions. I also got a follow up call to ensure my dog was doing ok. I felt the clinic was organized and well run. Most of all I wanted my dog to be seen in a timely manner. I was very satisfied with the outcome! So was my dog!

Dr. Gill takes her time with me and my cat. She gives a thorough exam and then will answer all of my questions and explain things to me. She's kind and my cats all love her! Shree says, "thank you, Dr. Gill!"

I set up an appointment a month in advance to establish care for my two dogs. I was hesitant in selecting this place as I don’t have a car and it is 3 miles away from my home to begin with. Today I arrived 5 minutes early for my 11am appointment only to be told, unapologetically, that they had no record of me. I had the attendant listen to the voicemail I received yesterday, from their scheduler, calling to confirm my appointment today. The attendant pretended to be researching the issue on her computer and tells me “you didn’t answer your phone yesterday when we called to confirm so we canceled it” and would have to reschedule. I didn’t answer my phone because they called me from an unknown number at 8am (while i was sleeping). Told the attendant I walked 3 miles for this appointment that I set up a month in advance and she just shrugged her shoulders. I’m currently walking the 3 miles back home. 6 mile roundtrip walk for nothing.

They have one goal, which is to up sell as much as possible. They will continue to ask you multiple times when you deny unnecessary services. Very rude employees. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG OR CAT FOR SPAY OR NEUTER! SPCA will do it for 10% of what it will cost here. SPCA is under $200, and only $50 for pitbulls. Too bad I didn’t find out about that until after I paid almost $1000 for my pitbull to be spay there today. Big costly mistake for a terrible experience. 1) They quoted me $650 to $920 for spay. Included unnecessary blood work which I had to deny 5 times. Once over the phone before surgery. Three times at drop off. Once over the phone afterwards. If your dog is young and healthy then there is absolutely no reason for this $200+ blood work. 2) They called me after I dropped her off to say they did not estimate for her to be larger than last time I came when she was 3 months old. Please read that once more. A veterinarian clinic does not know that an American Pitbull Terrier will continue to grow after 3 months old. Please show me a healthy American Pit Bull terrier which is 28 pounds at 1.5 years old. So they increased the cost $200. 3) When I was called to pick up it took me around 30 mins to get there and park. I paid the ridiculous $900 for spay surgery that could’ve cost me $50. Waited. Waited. Waited. 15 mins go by and the nurse asks me “does April get mouthy when she plays?” I said “yeah she can get over excited” “Well April nipped my arm. She’s such a sweet dog That I would hate for anything to happen to her. Luckily she didn’t break skin or it wouldn’t have been good for you and her because she is not up to date on rabies vaccine” she said. Then continued with “you need to get her some training” I said “it’s Covid. They haven’t been doing classes.” She said “then get personal dog training classes at your home” So not only did this woman threaten me and my puppy. Rabies vaccine is once at 16 weeks which she had. The next rabies vaccine needs to be completed after one year later and 3 years later. Show me PROOF that rabies vaccine by law has to be EXACTLY at 12 months after first. It’s a booster shot. Each rabies vaccine lasts minimum of 3 years. So 15 months after first rabies shot doesn’t make her “out of date”. 3 rabies vaccinations in first 5 years and every 3 years after is the law. So do not threaten my dog like something bad was coming to her over that 3 months. She also told me I should be spending more money on training because she was not aware of her surroundings. People that have gotten puppies during Covid have not had the training or the socializing as they would during normal times. The first thing you do is take my dog from me into the back room alone when she’s hyper and expect her to be a little angle. I would expect this clinic to have employees that would be aware of handling dogs. 4) They didn’t have the proper prescription dosages they charged me for. And it took me by the end 30 mins to leave the pick up for my ready dog. Bottomline good luck if you want to take your animals here. They will look for ways to charge you more. You will always be on hold. And always waiting on them.

I actually think that my dear little feline friend, Fargo, gets better care from the staff (& particularly the vet) at EBVC than I do when I go for my physical at a major Bay Area HMO. The fees charged by EBVC for their services seem reasonable, but I haven't done any real price comparison. Therefore I can't rate whether this is a good value or not. The senior blood test (similar in complexity to what I get for my physical) is pricy, but that is just a fee that is passed on from an independent lab....not an EBVC charge.. Overall, what I do know is that with EBVC, my feline friend is in caring hands and with people I trust. The only bit of a downside is that parking is a little difficult...... but EBVC said they can assist with that.

The receptionist on the line was INCREDIBLY rude and non-helpful when I called about my pup's paw cyst. She was negative, mean, and not at all flexible. I called back later and the receptionist at this time was very nice and helpful and I got me an appointment. If I were them, I'd get rid of whoever that first person on the phone was, as I wouldn't want that person anywhere near my dog. I've been here for appointments for my dog before and they are solidly okay. It's hard to communicate and get the information you need, but I assume that their doctors are reasonably good. I'm sure you can find a better place, although the wait lists these days are pretty long, which is what pushed me here in the first place.

Ive been using east bay veterinary clinic for 5 months now. In that time I've had a couple emergency's - allergic reaction to a bug bite (?) & chocolate consumption. They were always able to get us in right away saving me a trip to the Emergency vet. Each person that worked with us and took care of my pup was supportive, incredibly responsive, and checked in often to let us know how our pup was doing. Very much appreciated when you're a worried dog mom. There online platform is good, I like that theres an app option, & the reminders for check-ups, shots, flea meds and others are helpful. They are also very transparent about cost. Would definitely recommend.

I am new to Oakland and so is my dog Willie. I took him for his first visit to East Bay Veterinary Clinic. The staff are friendly and professional. Willie was there for the annual flu shot and had a physical since it was his first time there. Willie told me on the way home the Dr. did a great job. BTW they make it easy to buy those monthly meds online via the site you use. For us it is Chewy. Thanks East Bay Veterinary Clinic! I think we have found our go to Vet Clinic.

My dog just had his first visit here, and I’m super happy w the care he received. I really liked his previous treater, but it was too expensive. The vet took the time to answer my questions and explain his treatment plan. Seemed very reasonable all the way around.
